Chapter Text
It has been four months
Four months since he left his original universe.
And Louie couldn't be happier.
After so many months of emotional abuse. Being hated by his original family and feeling out of place for so long. Louie finally has a place that he fits in, in his family, in the world
He was kinda surprised at how he quickly settled in despite the massive change; perhaps it was finally having a family who loved him that made the transition feel so much easier.
He always felt so much love attention given to him then he ever had in his entire life back in his original world. He would feel it and see it in moments whenever Huey helped him in his classes, whenever he was given a guest spot at Dewey's Dew-Night or when he spent time with Webby listening to her lectures and ideas and whenever Scrooge gave him business tips on the now revived Louie incorporated (His mother happily volunteering to be his Vice-President for the company)
Of course the love he treasured was from his true mother
After so many months of trying and dreaming of receiving any love from Della he finally had that dream come true in this universe.
But still…. he was unsure if he deserved this.
Ever since he came back to permanently stay he was cautious of being hated by this loving family (though he hated that he was a constant reminder to what they lost).
Even though he was assured multiple times that they won't hate him. It could be a lie since his original Donald has been saying that every time he had nightmares of abandonment and look how right those nightmares were.
But now...today he was living his true dream.
And he intended for it to last every second.
Right now. Today? Louie was in his office that he took for Louie incorporated and he was going over some papers happily relishing in his thoughts.
The door opened making Louie look up and smile at the person who entered as well as carrying a stack of papers.
His mother.
"Here's all the papers that you asked from Scrooge sweetheart." Della said as she dropped the stack of papers onto one side of the desk.
Louie grimaced at the amount of reading and re-reading he would have to do. Not only did his sharp mind and schemes came back but also his laziness though nobody seemed to mind some of them joining in (Dewey held that the most)
"What do you want to do Lou?" She asked cheerfully.
Louie shrugged and leaned back on his chair with his usual apathetic expression.
"Do you want to take a hike into town?" Della asked, hoping to get through his nonchalance.
Louie smiled and nodded, thankful that his mother was willing to spend some time together. Unlike his original mother, the last time he asked if they could spend some time together Della hadn't even looked at him and told him to stop bothering her whilst she was watching TV, he left feeling more miserable than ever.
Louie simply nodded looking forward to some one on one time (one that was not forced anyways)

Louie walked down the hallways. Usually he would be miserable after having been ignored by his brothers or having been dismissed by Webby, but now? He was happy after having a good trip around town ending with a trip to Funzos and them having some pizza (with Louie now being able to eat modified foods without barfing)
Suddenly he felt he ran into something when he looked up he saw that it was a vase. Before Louie could try to catch it it fell to the floor, he cringed when the vase fell to the floor and broke into several pieces.
Just as he was about to react he heard a familiar voice from behind him. "Lad?"
Louie felt his heart stop when he heard his great uncle's voice. The last he had broken something accidentally Scrooge hadn't even given him a chance to clean up instead giving him a chastise and when Della heard about it she confined him to his room for a whole week. Gosh it's going to happen, it's-."
"Lad? What happened?" Scrooge asked, Louie could hear the footsteps approaching him closer.
Taking a deep breath Louie began to spologie. "I'm sorry, I didn’t mean to break it, I wasn’t thinking about the consequences. I was in the wrong and I won’t do it again, and-”
"Lad… What on earth are you apologising for? It was an accident. Children do this all the time, you don't have to worry about anything."
Louie turned to face his uncle with surprise but he regained his composure when he looked up at him.
"Oh….well o-okay, do you want me to… to clean it up." Louie stammered, still fearful of any bad outcome.
"Ah, don't worry about it lad, Duckworth can clean it up later." Scrooge smiled as he reassuringly patted him on his head before taking his leave down the hall.
Louie paused, staring at his uncle's retreating form in surprise.
That's right they never got mad at Louie, even though Louie was living like this for a couple of months he was still adjusting to this but who could blame him?
After all… did he really deserve this?
Did he deserve to be loved, cared for, treated as a true member of the family at long last, to be smothered in attention 24/7 (Not that he hated it)
Does a bad person ever deserve this? He needed to find out.
"Uncle Scrooge." Louie called making the century old duck turn around to face him.
"Can I ask you something?" Receiving a nod as a yes.
"I-i well… I-i." Louie stammered struggling to find the words thankfully Scrooge was patient as he simply stood there gazing at Louie not speaking until he spoke.
"These past few months… I've been struggling to adjust to this change." Scrooge slowly nodded understanding why.
"What if the reason for it is because I can't move on… I just feel so depressed and sad all the time feeling like I don't deserve this, what if the reason why I went through all that is because I deserved it… that I'm bad- ."
Louie cut himself off when Scrooge abandoned his cane and stepped forward to place his hands on the younger ducks shoulders and spoke in a kind but firm tone.
"I want you to listen to me lad... You're not a bad person, you're a very good person who bad things have happened to, do you understand?"
Louie nodded as his great uncle continued. "Besides, the world isn't split into good people and bad people. We all got light and dark inside us. What matters is the part we act on, that's who we really are."
"Take as long as you need to settle in and once you have we'll be a proper family once again." Scrooge smiled before pulling him into a hug.
Louie returned it though still but didn't return it fully as he might barf.
Even though he was assured plenty of times that this is his home he was still questioning it.
Is this his home?
