    The first time he coughed them up, it was alone. 
    There was no one there to see the blood-covered yellow petals, falling to the ground. He immediately cleaned it up, wiping the blood from his floor before anyone could come in and see it. 

    Then, he cried. Curled up, and cried, because the yellow petals in his hands and the blood covering them meant that he was going to die.
