Ranboo Saves The Day

Summary:

'“Fuck, I knew I did something!” Tubbo said in anger, curling in on himself.

“Okay,” Ranboo tried to keep his voice calm but inside he screaming and crying. The road was so busy and he felt like everyone’s eyes were on him. He needed to put on a brave face though, he needed to make sure that Tubbo was okay first. “ We need to find somewhere safe to pull over and you need to put on your hazards.”

Tubbo pulled over to the side of the road, the car still making the weird noise. Ranboo got out of the car first insisting that Tubbo stay seated a bit longer. He opened the door and immediately saw that the passenger side tyre had gone flat. Damn. Did they have a spare tyre? He thought they did but first must tell Tubbo the bad news.'

Work Text:

Ranboo was letting Tubbo drive for once, he didn’t normally be a passenger as Tubbo preferred not to drive. He was sitting in the passenger seat watching the world go by, not really paying attention to Tubbo’s driving. He didn’t need to Tubbo was a good driver even though getting his license took a while. Ranboo did prefer to be the one driving, he liked the control he got from it and it was also a good distraction from spiralling as it would force him to think about something else. Though he also loved these breaks from driving being able to look at the scenery rather than the road. However it would be him not paying attention that would be their downfall.

“FUCK!” Tubbo screamed as they hit a curb, “Fuck. Shit.”

“It’s fine Tubbo just a light hit don’t stress,” Ranboo had long since learnt that most noises when hitting a pothole or curb normally meant nothing. So they carried on but not before long the car started to make a weird noise.

“Fuck, I knew I did something!” Tubbo said in anger, curling in on himself.

He thought they did but first must tell Tubbo the bad news.

“Okay, so…” Ranboo hesitated trying to find the right words.

“Get on with it!” Tubbo snapped at him.

“The tyre is flat at the front but I am sure we have a spare tyre and maybe some tools that your parents put in the car for us.” Ranboo explains to Tubbo, not liking seeing Tubbo’s closed off expression. “With some help from YouTube, I’m sure we will be moving again soon.”

Ranboo moved round to the back of the car to open up the trunk, while telling Tubbo to get out the car and stand on the sidewalk for safety. After a but of rummaging Ranboo finds the tyre and tools that he needed. Before starting he briefly pulled Tubbo into a side hug and pressed a kiss onto his head hoping to calm his boyfriend a little. It seemed to work some but Tubbo still looked fairly shaken up.

After finding a tutorial for their car, Ranboo changed the tyre relatively easy. Well, maybe he struggled more than he wanted to admit.

“All done!” Ranboo turned towards Tubbo awkwardly carrying the flat tyre to the trunk of the car. “We can be on our way!”

After ridding his hands of the tyre, he moved towards Tubbo. He pulled the shorter boy into his chest and that was when the tears finally came. Tubbo’s body was shaking with harsh breaths he was taking. Ranboo brought his arms around him, pressing Tubbo tight to his chest. He was whispering reassurances and affection, Tubbo needed to know that he was fine and that nothing bad had happened. He wasn’t stupid or a bad driver, mistakes just happen.

“Do you want me to drive, my dear?” Ranboo said quietly to his boyfriend pressed against his chest. He felt Tubbo’s head move up and down, signalling that yes he wanted Ranboo to drive. “Come on then, my love, let’s get home.”

Notes:

fun fact this was inspired by the time i got two flat tyres and had to get my car towed :)
