Eren couldn’t believe he let his siblings talk him into going to the Survey Corps ball. He looked around nervously. Most of the soldiers were already drunk flirting with anything that moved.
He held on tight to Armin. “Don’t let go, stay close.”
Armin chuckled. “Let loose! This is supposed to be fun! Have a drink! Look at Mikasa!”
The band was playing at full volume and Mikasa was in the middle already dancing with a couple of soldiers.
“Humph. She’s just excited because she gets to see Jean.”
Armin nudged him. “Maybe you’ll find a hot soldier to cuddle up with.”
He scoffed. “Yeah right like anyone would catch….” He looked back at the entrance and noticed the commander walking in with the captain. Eren felt his breath catch in his throat and his heart skip a beat. He heard rumors of the captain but nothing compared. He was shorter than Eren expected but what he lacked in height he made up for in beauty. Beautiful dark black hair with bangs brushed to the side and an undercut. His face was stern but his eyes had a little twinkle in them as he looked around the room.
Eren tried to meet his eyes but he moved away with the commander to a table with the other higher-ups. Crap. He looked around for his sister and saw she was grinding with Jean on the dance floor. He moved his way towards her and grabbed her arm. “Mikasa! Help me!”
Mikasa immediately stopped dancing. “What’s up?”
He pointed over to the table where the captain and his friends were drinking. “See the Captain? I want to talk to him but don’t know how.”
Mikasa smirked and walked towards the table. “Wait! What are you doing?”
He watched helpless as Mikasa grabbed the captain’s arm and whispered something to him. They both turned and looked right at him. He felt his face heat up and his heart stop. His eyes… he could stare into them all day long. Mikasa tugged the Captain towards him. Eren looked down at his clothes thanking the gods Armin convinced him to wear his nice pants and shirt.
Suddenly the Captain and his sister were standing in front of them. “Captain Levi this is Eren, my brother.”
Eren blushed and bowed. “It’s a pleasure to meet you, Captain Levi.”
Captain Levi took his hand and kissed it. “Please call me Levi and the pleasure is all mine. I must say I was not happy to be stationed in Shiganshina but just seeing you… I would be happy to be stationed here for the rest of my life.”
Eren was speechless. Mikasa patted his shoulder. “You two have fun.”
They talked and danced all night. Eren wasn’t sure of the last time he smiled so much.
The sun was just starting to rise when Armin came up to him. “Sorry to interrupt but we better get home before father wakes.”
It was morning already? Eren wanted more time.
Levi chuckled. “Better get home then.” He then pulled a slip of paper out of his jacket pocket. “My address. I will be expecting you to write.”
Eren clutched the paper to his chest. He wrote and sent off a letter the moment he arrived home. He couldn’t wait for the reply. Levi wrote back immediately. Eren felt like he was on cloud nine. They wrote back and forth for weeks learning everything about each other. With each piece of information, he learned about Levi the more in love he fell.

Before he knew it a month had passed and Levi was invited over to dinner. Levi had told him that he was planning on asking his father for his hand in marriage. He was nervous. Levi wasn’t the best at impressing people. But he could see how hard he was trying. Praising his mother’s cooking laughing at every stupid joke his father told. Telling both his parents about his military career and accomplishments. Eren felt his heart flutter. Levi hated bragging but the fact that he was willing to brag to impress his family… he must have loved him. After what felt like forever his father stood up. This was it. Eren’s heart was pounding in his chest. Please say yes. please say yes.
His father shook Levi’s hand and said “Welcome to the family.”
Two weeks later

Levi looked back at him with a rare smile. Eren swore he could fly. Instead, he ran and jumped into Levi’s arms laughing. Levi twirled them around.
Levi then led them to the backyard sighing. “I can’t believe it. Are you sure you want to marry me? I didn’t go to college, I don’t make a lot of money, I don’t have own any land. All I have is my wits, my squad, and skills in the military.”
Eren laughed. “That’s enough. More than enough. All I need is you.”
Levi let out a breath. “Thank goodness. I swear I’m a different person around you. I never had a family before. I never knew my father My mother died when I was young. But your family is amazing. I sealed off my heart a long time ago but you opened it. I’m not afraid anymore now that I have you. I’ll buy a little house somewhere nice and love you for the rest of my days.”

They married a month later and when they sealed their vows with a kiss Eren knew his life was going to work out.
