Gyro hated this feeling. That feeling deep inside of him that twisted his guts and made his stomach queasy. Fenton, off to the side during the company party chatting away with other employees. All smiles and fancy hair and seemingly enchanting the audience around him as he regaled a story about something that Gyro couldn’t hear. And Gyro hated it.
Here he was, off to the side watching his boyfriend do the social part of the party. Sure, Gyro could be that person too when he needed to be. But Fenton did it so seamlessly that it made Gyro falter and watch from afar.
And their eyes met and Fenton smiled at him, returning his gaze for a moment to address the girl from accounting who had been inching her way closer and closer to him. He didn’t miss the way she threw her head back and laughed at Fenton’s terrible jokes. And Then Fenton was walking away, no doubt a polite excuse as he made his way to Gyro.
“Hey.” Fenton said, leaning against the table and looking at Gyro with a grin, “Come here often?” he asked, wiggling his eyebrows in a way that always made Gyro laugh.
“I’m not usually one to get out.” Gyro replied, handing him an extra class of punch he saved just for him. His smile fell quickly and Fenton took a seat next to him.
“Hey,” He tried again, “Everything alright, babe?” He asked, his hand reaching out to cover Gyro’s. A gentle squeeze that made everything feel better again, just for a moment.
Gyro nodded his head again, and Fenton raised an eyebrow in speculation. The gears turning in his head before his eyes widened and he sighed. Gyro had told him so many times that Fenton had deserved better than him. And Fenton had told Gyro so many times that Gyro was the one who he wanted.
"I'm with you, you know that." Fenton replied, leaning forward and placing a small kiss to his cheek, “You know I love you.” He continued, moving away to smile at the blush that had spread across Gyro’s face like wildfire. “I love you .” he reiterated. “Not anyone else. Not even a clone of you. I love you.”
And Gyro couldn’t help but smile again as Fenton leaned forward and kissed him again. And Fenton loved him, and he knew that. Fenton loved him, and Gyro couldn’t have been happier.
