Minho and Jisung have been playing it cool for a while now, hanging out and about in each other’s hoodies, keeping themselves warm around each other’s scent. What happens when their little secret gets out and people find out the truth they have been keeping to themselves?

Notes:

Written for: SEASONS FOR SOULMATES.

Season: Spring.

Heavily inspired by Kitty's twt and a little bit of Minsung talking about certain scents they use/like.

Writing this one fic was a very fun experience, so I hope you enjoy!! :)

Work Text:

Minho and Jisung had been bestfriends since they were children. They got introduced starting elementary school, sharing classes with all the personalized education, focusing rather on the students needs in regards to a specific grade and the two of them had met in music class where they quickly became close to each other hanging out almost every day around school and outside it after they first talked to each other.

When they had met, neither had presented as both were still too young to have a knowledge of their true second gender. Although, people talked. Minho had soft features yet a little bit of an attitude, didn’t like to be bossed around and would always make sure to get his point across, making people assume he would more likely than not be an alpha.

Jisung was a whole different story, since birth the boy had been expected to be an omega. Sweet round chubby cheeks, tiny and softly embraced body figure, big round doe eyes and a really beautiful heart-shaped smile. Even when a baby his personality was one of a sweet delicate omega, tender and always respectful, kind, soft.

When he grew up he became loud, overly excited about the minimum and a bit explosive when around people he knew but outsiders only saw the shy form of the introverted omega. Given that, it wasn’t a surprise either to people making rumors of the pair becoming a thing in the future. The perfect match made by the Moon goddess and the universe, fated mates they called them.

As time passed by no one really got any surprises. As expected the older of the pair became an alpha and the younger became an omega when their times came. Now both 19 and 21 respectively had moved in together since it seemed easier that way, they always were together and really, moving in would only give them the freedom to move around the other’s personal space without feeling prying eyes watching their every move.

Thing is, people were right in almost everything...except for one thing. They never really became a couple. Yes they were always together, yes they were always hugging, cuddling, scenting and even holding hands everywhere but they never kissed, never spent their heat and rut together. When the days came they texted a lot and in extreme situations the most they would do was help the other getting them suppressants or just having calls to distract or numb the feelings.

On top of that was the fact that Minho had already had a boyfriend all in between these periods, Chan. He was a kid his age that the pair met around the time they had already presented. The boy was an omega and became quite best friends with Jisung, both talking about music and their passion for it. Minho got introduced to the shy omega a few days later and the three of them became a deal package.

And some would say they pitied Jisung for putting up with the two of them but he always said he didn’t mind and whoever saw could clearly see he didn’t always bring his friends together and hang out with them, the pair never letting him be left out even after they started dating. Though Minho and Chan broke up when Chan found his fated mate and in the end no one had really been hurt by it.

In the end they stayed friends and to be honest, Chan would be now the one who appreciated the pair from outside, silently joining the mass who questioned why they didn’t date yet.

Jisung was now walking home from school, his small figure sinking inside the green hoodie that hugged him. People might look at him weirdly because he couldn’t help loving wearing hoodies through the whole year, especially during spring where he could feel the warmth of the embrace the big cloth gave him. He pouted while watching some of the flowers near his dorm blooming, they looked so peaceful… unlike him.

Despite his mood, the sweet vanilla scent that the precious hoodie still had was all the comfort he thought he could ever need when having a stressful day, fighting with Hyunjin for some dumb reasons and then having to hear an earful of his boyfriend, Felix, about the issue because he “wanted his twin and boyfriend to get along”.

He sighed content as he slipped the key and opened the door to his shared dorm. A small figure greeted him.

“Oh, hi Doongie. Is Min not home yet? Come. Let’s get you food.”

And with that he was off to feed his roommate's kitten. He shook his head sideways. For someone as reserved as Min, no one would expect him to have the biggest soft spot for kittens. If only they knew that there even was another kitty coming soon, as Min promised.

After that was done he was about to go out to the room to change into his usual homely clothing but hands on his waist held him before he could even try to.

“Hey baby, how was school today?”

The softness of vanilla smell intensified around Jisung as the older buried his head into the crook of his neck, too close to the scent gland that if they weren’t the best friends they were, Jisung would’ve considered this courting. But, then again if it was, they both would have noticed the other was doing it, right? Because Jisung too, scented the older and they scented each other’s clothes, the action coming natural to them because it gave them comfort.

“Mmm, as tiring as ever, Hyunjin keeps testing my patience! And Lixie does nothing but defend him because he’s his mate. Dumb shit!”

“Jisung, words.”

One thing the older always found cute about him and always made him know was how he threw curses when he was annoyed, as well as the pout he unconsciously got on his lips.

“Sorry Hyung… He just gets to me. It’s the same way Changbinnie gets to you sometimes!”

That was another topic. Apart from their friends, there was Jisung’s own friends: the youngest and cutest pair in the whole universe. A beta named Kim Seungmin and the sweetheart alpha Yang Jeongin who had been the one to tame the untamed beta and take his heart. Added to them, Seungmin’s best friend and another alpha, Seo Changbin.

It had all been fun and games until one day Changbin had picked up a fight with Minho over Jisung. Where the younger alpha had claimed the older of them both was playing games with Jisung not confessing and making the younger all rotate around him while he was dating Chan. Minho had then said that he was not misleading Jisung because if he was Jisung would’ve been crying and their best friends relationship would have been done for.

Jokes on all of them, now Chan and Changbin were dating, just like all of their little friend group while the two of them kept on no dating and their weird antics, as people called it, acting like a couple without the title. And to date, Changbin would always annoy Minho on purpose about them, making the older lose control sometimes.

“Your scent is getting sweeter or is it just me?” Minho’s voice took him out of his dazed state. Was it really? He couldn’t tell as all that clouded his senses was the sweet vanilla lulling him.

“It’s because I smell like you, dummy. I’ve been wearing your hoodie today.”

“Explains why my green hoodie was missing and I had to go with a grey one to my only class of the day.”

Jisung blushed as he mumbled an apology, smiling while he felt himself getting soft around the older’s embrace. He could swear he was forgetting something. Without a care he let himself fall asleep while Minho carried him to their room, the last thing he remembered was the older once again saying how sweet his smell was even without his hoodie.

He just hoped he wasn’t forgetting something important. And in fact, the sweet omega was forgetting the most important thing, the fact his heat was about to start.

When he woke up, he felt hot, too hot, and wet. He whined loudly at the burning sensation and his whining intensified as he noticed he was in his own room, alone and his ears and tail were out on display. He reached out to his phone only to see some messages from Hyunjin telling him that the teacher had called in sick due to seasonal change so they had a free day.

Smiling, rather forcing a smile, he replied thanking the other for letting him know and also telling him his heat had arrived so he would be out for the next 3 days. With that he opened the contacts and dialed Chan.

“Sung? Did something happen? We’re on break now, Min is picking food but he was worried he didn’t see you on the first period with Hyunjin.”

“Hyung…” His voice was almost breaking now as he squirmed in bed. “My heat came earlier this month… i don’t… know what has triggered it but I-”

“Sung, with whom did you hang out yesterday and today?”

“I- Only… You, Jeongin...Seungmin...Hyunnie and Minho hyung, why?” He was now confused about all this.

“Did your senses get overwhelmed at some point? Like, you got dizzy or sleepy from a certain feeling around either Jeongin, Hyunjin or Minho?”

He pouted, going back through his memories as he tried to push down the burning feeling that washed through his body. The slick was running down his legs and his whole body felt a big need to get relief to the hot desires it was keeping. Nevertheless, the omega was still on the starter symptoms so he was able to control his mind before it got too cloudy to process what the older omega was telling him through the phone.

“Not with Jinnie or Innie… It was as usual… I just… when I got home… Min hyung said… I smelled sweeter but I assumed that was his own scent… because I was…” He bit his lip, not ready to admit he had been wearing the older’s hoodie, their friends didn’t have to know, even if they knew but wouldn’t tell the omega.

“You were… Sung you know this game of scenting and no marking is hurting you, right?” He whined, Chan was right, of course he was. He had always warned them to not scent each other too much if they weren’t mates, and for good reason.
“I know… Hyung just… You know well how...how calming Min’s scent is… it just… feels safe.”

He received a soft hum in reply which made him anxious, so he waited until the other omega would say something.

“You know, Sung. I know deep down you know what you two are doing. You just… won’t act on it. Min is coming, should I tell him to sleepover at mine during your heat?” Jisung was about to reply but a harsh sound came out of his mouth at the idea of Minho spending time with Chan, while he was in pain during his heat.

“Sung?”

“Hyung I swear I don’t know what just came over me I just-”

“Min is going home, to you. After his last class, and I hope you two talk everything out this time around because I am really tired of your idiocy”

With that the older omega hung up and Jisung was left with a turmoil of thoughts.

His omega had been the one who had almost growled at Chan just because the older had mentioned Minho staying with him during his heat.

He got out of bed, went to get his suppressants and then layed back on bed waiting for the effects to come, the next day he would be all needy again but he was sure the older one wouldn't be around for that so he would be able to get a hold of himself.

Once he felt more at ease he decided to let his mind wander again to what Chan said. He knew what was wrong. Sure… he knew his relationship with the alpha was one that people said to be not one friends would act like about. They held hands, because Jisung had asked Minho to do so, to keep him close and make him feel safe like that.

They began scenting each other when Minho had started getting cuddlier after half a year of living together, that was a few years ago when Jisung had just turned 16 and Minho was already 18 years old. For some reason the omega didn’t find it in him to get mad at the older for it as he liked feeling all safe and warm when they scented each other.

Then his mind wandered even further to the thoughts he never let be. The thoughts his omega had about the older. About their alpha.

When in heat it was countless times Jisung had thought about Minho while he touched himself, the way he had whined for him to come, to touch him, fill him and mark him.

He shook his head as he let it sink in. He had feelings for the older, the same way his omega had a connection with the alpha. He could only pray the alpha got the feels for him too, because if not his omega was now all vulnerable for pain.

He decided to distract himself from thinking about the older and got up from bed, taking all the necessaries for his nest. He felt it was not enough looking at it, the lavender scent getting heavy in the room, he whined and went out of his room, letting himself in uninvited to the older’s room and taking some of his shirts and hoodies like he usually did during his heat. He then took the green hoodie again wearing it as he drowned himself on the vanilla smell that still came out of it.

He was so in deep with his own thoughts and emotions that he didn’t see Minho staring at him as he lazily went back to his room all cuddling the clothes he was taking. Just like he didn’t see the older one following him and watching the nest he had so carefully made, as he placed the alphas' clothing in the center of it. He hummed happily and closed his eyes innocently waiting for Minho to come home and talk, though he expected the older one not to see all this, his safe zone.

“Why are you so cute? Have you always looked like this during heat, Sungie?” The older’s voice made him open his eyes as he let go of the clothing he was now deeply sniffing, getting intoxicated in the older’s vanilla scent.

“Hyung~ you came too early, go away.” He whined but he felt the alpha come close and pick him up, making him squeak. His tiny squirrel ears were now alert and his fluffy and petit tail was now up in anticipation of whatever the older was planning.

The kitten ears didn’t take long to appear as well as the soft tail that wrapped itself around the older’s thigh.

“Is my little Sungie shy now that his alpha is here, hm?” And Jisung would’ve teased him about the way he had proclaimed himself his alpha but the blush on his own cheeks and the genuine smile on the older’s face made him stop his tracks and drily swallow as he felt his nervousness rise up.

“Hyung… please stop playing around with me.”

“Sungie…” Minho took in a deep breath before his own cheeks got painted in a soft pink as he spoke his next words. “I have been in love with you since we were kids, I just never told you because I thought it was just out of habit, not genuine and well… yesterday… when your scent got so… strong I… my inner alpha talked to me and made me realize...that’s why I left early today because I actually didn’t sleep last night, I spent all night staring at you while you looked pretty and peaceful sleeping.”

Jisung was beyond shocked. He wanted to say something else but the alpha beat him to it, continuing his monologue.

“And well… it made sense you know? How I felt a need to always be around you, the need to scent you whenever I could just because it made my own self feel at ease knowing you had my scent all over you… the weird happiness seeing you in my clothes gave me and… the big desire I felt yesterday to actually just… kiss you.”

“Can you do it now?” The kitten hybrid for sure now felt the shock and confusion, as he tilted his head like Jisung had said the weirdest thing.

“What?”

“Can you kiss me now, Lee Minho hyung? No, you know what, I will do it myself.”

And without giving the older a chance to even speak as he kissed him right after saying that. It was just an innocent peck, soft and shy as it could ever be, but for Jisung it was just perfect. He broke it and looked at the dazed expression the older had now all over his features.

“Oh, and I like you too, if you didn’t get the memo.”

-----------------------

After the short span of three days alone with Minho, he went back to school. Actually his heat had ended as soon as it started because just as the suppressants stopped their numbing effect, they had gotten busy and now he had a pretty mating bite decorating his neck. Minho himself had one right above the scent gland and honestly both of them just kept to themselves those three days, getting more intimate as the new couple they were.

During those days, Jisung actually got to enjoy watching the beauty of season change through his window, how the flowers bloomed prettily close to their house, aided by the sweet neighbors who came and watered them during the day. He got to meet the newest addition to their family. A newborn kitten named Dori who was a fluffy little one, him alongside Doongie would be fun to live with. Soonie was yet to come to their house since he seemed to love living at Minho’s parents house still.

During those days too, they established their relationship as mates and decided to make their relationship work by their own pace, not going to fast and actually having time to discuss of further projects in their lives as a family, to which Jisung complained ―jokingly― that they already had a lot with their kittens and that he could only wonder what their family would be like.

Most importantly they discussed too during their days to themselves, how to separate their love relationship from their friendship bond and their mates bond because even if it all complemented perfectly, the fact they could ever get into couple fights or stuff would never be something they would want their friendship to suffer from. Soon enough they decided that if they ever fought they should try to fix it as soon as possible and talk it out, and that they were lovers who acted like friends either way so it would be okay.

And of course, no one needed to know, they wouldn’t tell.

That’s why now Jisung was having an earful of an exasperated Chan who kept being whiny on how Jisung and Minho were actually being too dumb and annoying for not getting together when it was obvious they were fated mates. Jisung was just shaking it off saying they were best friends so it was hard for both of them to grow into something deeper without compromising their friendship.

Jisung yet again could only giggle, if only his friend knew… but he wouldn’t spoil the fun.

On Minho’s side, as he could feel from the bond, he was annoyed from probably having earful of Hyunjin on why they weren’t a thing. It was funny though, how the hoodie had been keeping the mark hidden, without even having make-up and the fact he was usually full of the older’s scent made no one suspect a thing. To add on top of that, their parents had gotten to know the news and had the mission to lie to their friends that Minho was at home while Jisung was alone in the dorms.

It for sure was a fun week, while having everyone in the dark of the news and wearing hoodies as it was hoodie season. What was funnier was how when any of their friends would suspect a thing and try to call them out, someone else would try to shut it down saying it was their tired minds playing games to get a rest.

Funny, way too much for the new couple.

It wasn’t until they had spring break that the team would find out about their secret. Jisung and Minho had decided to actually stop the prank and let the others know. It was getting tiring to actually hold back from kissing in front of everyone like they did at home. Jisung was now wearing his own hoodie, which hugged his silhouette in the perfect way to make the soft features stand out more and making it impossible to hide at least a bit of the bite mark that was now beautifully decorating his neck.

He giggled as he looked at himself in the mirror, the white hoodie making him look softer and exposing the skin. His alpha entered the bathroom and hugged him from behind while smiling. He looked at him through the reflection, the older was wearing a zip-up hoodie that let all his mark to it’s glory and some nice jeans that matched the ones he was wearing himself.
His smile grew bigger at the realization.

“You look pretty, honey~”

“Thank you, alpha. I am happy with the look. Hope everyone takes the hint.”

He was a bit nervous of reactions but almost a month into their relationship was enough of them pranking their friends. With the reassuring smile of his mate and lover, he walked out of the room, their friends were probably waiting at the cafe and they actually couldn’t care less about it because that would only give them more spotlight and would make whatever they were planning to go by with ease.

“There you are, why did you take so goddamn long and HOLY SHIT IS THAT A MATING MARK ON YOUR NECK.”

“Hello to you too Hyunnie, for someone so nice you seem to have forgotten what manners are.” Minho was as peaceful as ever as he spoke. The person in question now turned towards him and without a care of making a scene he looked at him as if looking for answers which he got just staring at him.

Bingo.

“You two. When did you mark each other?! You better speak now or I will make you!”

Well, Hyunjin was making a scene and the rest was just shocked because of what Hyunjin was saying. Jisung made his way to the table sitting beside Seungmin who looked at him with a smirk on his face. Minho sat by his side hugging him and cuddling as everyone just looked at them waiting for answers.

“We got together during my first day of heat, the next day we were already mated, a couple and happy. I gotta thank Channie Hyung tho. He gave me a ted talk on me taking into account my own emotions after lashing at him for proposing Min hyung spending my heat at his house.”

Minho giggled, remembering how flustered the omega was when he explained to him how he came to realize his feelings and how embarrassed he was for being so aggressive to Chan when he had only been meaning good and trying to help.

“Say what now, you have been together for a month already yet you both let us tell you how dumb you were for not being together, all while being together.” The youngest of the group took word and Jisung nodded his way. Of course Jeongin would be the one to figure it out but, honestly, he would’ve been disappointed if he hadn’t.

“I knew it! That’s why you kept using the thick hoodies even when we told you how hot it was and how you kept the hoodie over your head all day. Yet everyone called me crazy because we were all done with you two just not getting together!” Jisung looked at Seungmin apologetically. Poor puppy had been stressed over their relationship and had tried to actually make everyone acknowledge they were a thing, only to get ignored.

“Yeah, sorry Minnie, we shall repay you for your efforts.” Minho just shrugged and with that everyone proceeded to ask for their meals with a still whiny Hyunjin who couldn’t stop crying because his friends had made them look dumb.

---------------------------

“You know what, hyung?” Jisung tossed and turned in bed until he was facing his lover, who was already staring at him.

“Yeah baby?”

“I think we should thank the hoodie, it all started with me borrowing one when mine were all dirty, after we became roommates.” Minho chuckled and shook his head as he brought him closer. Jisung just let his head rest on the older’s chest listening to his heartbeat.

“You’re right… It all started with a hoodie.”

“Are we talking about the same hoodie though?”

Giggles slipped past the omegas mouth as he recalled.

“Right, when we met, seasons were changing and you were wearing a pretty soft orange hoodie, and I told you that you looked really pretty with it.”

“Mhm, after that we decided to hang out after class… and here we are now… it all really started like that…”

A comfortable silence filled the room, silence that was softly broken by a sleepy omega.

“Hyung… can I borrow your new hoodie tomorrow?”

Laugh soon filled the room while Minho tickled the younger for being a hoodie stealer. In the end he said yes and they positioned themselves again in bed; with that, they both drifted off to dreamland, a happy couple just as the universe had expected them to be.
