Angel's blood was very versatile. It could be used to make and enhance any number of potions. It could increase one's vitality and restore health to one who is incredibly ill. Depending on the person wielding said blood, they could cause untold horrors or create miracles.
As with all things that potent it came with some drawbacks. It could not be used by angels themselves. It was realized too late that if the angel died before the blood was gathered it lost its effect immediately and lost its effect after time if the angel died after the blood was gathered.
So it was no wonder why it was so sought after. Why angels became a rare thing until they were all but forgotten about and their blood no more than a myth.
Phil had given him a small vial of his blood, the so coveted angel's blood. Phil asked if Techno knew what it was. But Techno, despite his appearance, was well-read and was fascinated by the subject of angels and other creatures long before he met Phil.
Techno didn't want it; it was dangerous to have it. It was perpetuating the horrible use of people for materials. But Phil had insisted claiming a little blood would do no such harm.
For years he keeps the small vial of the precious blood in a vial around his neck. He protected it with his life because it was a part of Phil. And as time passed, that was what it became. A piece of Phil that was with Techno at all times.
He never thought he would use it for its magical properties.
Not once in a million years.
He hoped he would never have to use it.
He had never been so happy to have it. Never been so quick to go searching through books he had gathered over the years to know the exact ways it could be used.
Phil had been taken for the exact thing Techno had in his possession. Phil had been found out and he needed to save Phil. He needed to. Heavens he needed to.
He read down the page to the part that had been written in later with Pencil.
He knew the uses of angel blood like the back of his hand what he needed was the abstract uses of enderpearls. Everyone knew how enderpearls functioned. You threw them and when they cracked they would transport you to the location. A good number knew how enderpearl stasis chambers worked. most of those people knew how to construct one. But most people didn't realize there were other uses.
When an enderpearl cracked on a person they transported you to that person the same way you did when it hit objects in the environment. The same could be applied to any part of that person. Such as blood.
Techno read through the page. He would only get one try. He understood the concept but the procedure was tricky. It was odd how pearls decided who would be transported where. It didn't matter to Techno whether Phil was transported here or if he transported to Phil. Techno could take on any fight he was sure. If these people knew anything about angels which clearly they did they wouldn't want Phil dead.
He was counting on it actually.
Techno held the pearl. The shiny green gem reflected his face and the fear and concern he wore on it. He popped the vial open and pour a little of the blood on the pearl and threw it.
He gripped the vial and prepared to draw his weapon when he was met with the sight of surprised criminals.
"Who are you?" Someone asks.
"I'm the wrong person to incur the wrath of." He drew his sword and slammed it through the chest of the person who asked.
Techno can't quite recall the rest it was a blur of blood and anger, of vicious words and even more vicious strikes. That is until a blade is placed at Phil's throat. "Techno," The whisper brings Techno to a stop, glaring at the man who would dare threaten his friend.
"How did you get here?" They ask.
Techno holds up the vial of blood because what else can he do. "Pearls are quite amazing things. Now give him back" He says tucking the blood back into the folds of his cloak.
He scoffs, "I'm not going to judge how you treat your things but keep better track of him from now on." He shoves Phil towards Techno. Techno bristles with Anger. Techno guides Phil behind him. A quiet muttering catches his ears.
Others. He could've guessed. But that is an issue for after these absolute idiots suffer their due. "Phil isn't a Thing." He spits the very notion at them. "He is a Person and my Friend and you will join the chorus of those I have slain in hell for your mistake." He slams the sword efficiently into the next person in line for his rage. That is until he hears a strangled screech behind him. He really couldn't catch a break as the last standing three stabbed Phil in the abdomen. He was on a timer now. But now he has very little to lose. As the final three are killed. Techno kneels next to Phil.
"Save the others." He says.
"I will after I save you." He pulls the cork off of the vial and dumps it into a healing potion, hoping, praying that the gods don't hate him enough to let Phil die, or that the blood will work because damn it this wasn't supposed to happen.
White sparks dance across the wound stitching it together and Techno relaxes when he hears Phil gasp in relief. It isn't a perfect heal, it still is tender, sore, and aching with phantom pain, but he'll survive.
"Bet you were glad you kept it now aren't you, mate?" Phil says as Techno helps him to his feet and slings his arm around him holding him up.
Techno rolls his eyes, "Yeah, yeah old man, maybe you had a point."
"Hey, I'll have you know that I am young for an angel," Phil says with no real bite.
"Yeah, sure whatever you say, You're only three centuries older than most mortals rather than four."
Phil makes a strangled indignant squawk that means he doesn't want to take the "insult" but doesn't have an actual counter to the statement. Techno smiles, "Now come on let's go get the others out of here."
"Let's do that, and thank you Techno," Phil says as they walk down the hall to save the other angels here.
Neither says a word about how the other's hands shake and quiver from the encounter. Neither says a word more about how Phil's insistent gift saved Phil's life.
Neither notice that the empty vial lies forgotten on the floor. Not until they walk back and another angel picks it up asking what it was. They tell them as the vial is returned to Phil. And they all walk out of there, shaken but alive.
Techno doesn't fight or argue the next time Phil gives him the little vial, he simply slips it back around his neck where it rests next to his heart. He hopes he never has to use it again. But at least he has it if he does.
