Work Text:
The sound of rain against glass mixes pleasantly with the soft piano music playing in the background as Katsuki adds another offering to his alter. The snap of a match against igniter joins the melody for a second, before the crackle-sizzle of candles being lit replaces it. Katsuki takes a deep breath as the scent of lavender fills his room, feeling at peace. Finding his center, Katsuki picks up a tarot deck, silently blessing it before shuffling.
His mind floods with the color purple, purple hair, purple eyes and dark purple bags underneath them. The purple sweater Dunce Face gave him for a birthday or Christmas or something. The purple aura that surrounds him when Katsuki looks closely. Katsuki opens his eyes, gives one last prayer to Venus, and pulls three cards.
“Is Shinsou Hitoshi my soul mate?” He asks as he does, and looks to see the answer.
The Star, upright. Hope, faith, and rejuvenation. The Wheel of Fortune, upright. Change, Cycles, Inevitable Fate. King of Cups, upright. Following the Heart, Idealistic, Romantic.
Tears fall as Katsuki begins to feel like he can finally breath again. He takes a moment to collect himself before thanking his deck, Venus, and his magic. He blows out the candles and stands up, moving to his door with only moonlight showing him the way. He opens it to see his coven and Hitoshi all standing in the hall in front of his dorm. Dunce Face is standing with his arm wrapped around Hitoshi’s shoulders. Hitoshi is leaning against the wall, arms crossed and biting his nails. Shitty Hair is pacing back and forth. Ears is tapping a nervous beat on their knees from where they sat on the floor. Soy sauce Face and Raccoon Eyes are playing rock paper scissors while impatiently shifting from one foot to the other. They all stop and look up with searching eyes.
Katsuki ignores all of them, except his boyfriend. Today’s ritual was the most important one a witch could preform, the one to find your Chosen. Hand fasting with a person the Gods had not specifically made for you was a sure way to lose your gifts and become cursed. Of course, when Katsuki and Hitoshi had started dating, they hadn’t really thought of the potential consequences, until they realized how in love with each other they’d fallen. Luckily, Katsuki’s deities are Mars and Venus, otherwise they would have had to find someone who practice love or soul magic and that would have taken much longer then either wanted.
Now, though, Katsuki knows the answer, and Hitoshi stands waiting desperately to find out the verdict. Unfortunately for him, Katsuki is a little shit, so he walks up with tear tracks drying on his cheeks and a heavy frown. The blond takes Hitoshi’s hands, not looking him un the eye, and Hitoshi feels like he’s going to vomit until his asshole boyfriend finally looks up with a grin and nods.
“You’re stuck with me, Bitch.” Katsuki says smugly, and Hitoshi wants to punch him in the mouth. With his own mouth. So that’s what he does, while Katsuki’s coven (Their coven now) cheers. Hitoshi picks up his boyfriend by the waist, spinning them around as he continues to kiss the blonde senseless. Katsuki laughs freely against Hitoshi’s lips, holding onto his shoulders tightly. Once he finally gets put down, Katsuki takes in the cheering of his friends before rolling his eyes and scoffing.
“Yea, yea, enough if all that, idiots. Go to your own rooms and get some sleep! We graduate tomorrow and then we’re gonna have to get to work moving while planning and preparing the hand fasting! Go!” he barks, and his friends all stop to laugh and say ‘yes, mom’ before hugging Katsuki and Hitoshi and making their way to their own dorms – sort of.
Denki and Kyouka go to his, Eijirou goes to Deku’s, Hanta heads for Todoroki’s, and Mina is the only one that goes to her own room by herself. She mockingly bemoans all the alloromantics she’s ‘forced’ to be around, while blowing a kiss and wink to the newly confirmed soul mates. The two just laugh until they’re alone again. Hitoshi lets out a loud breath as the arms he has still wrapped around Katsuki’s waist tighten.
“What a relief. I really love you, Kats.” Hitoshi says so genuinely that Katsuki doesn’t even bother to right back his loving smile. Instead, the blond kisses his boyfriend deeply before resting their foreheads together. They stand there for a moment, just enjoying one another’s presence.
“C’mon, lets go to bed. I’m wiped.” Hitoshi says, grinning at Katsuki’s derisive snort. Nothing else is said, they pull apart except for a hand each, and go into Katsuki’s room to fall into bed and get some much-needed rest.
