Work Text:
Through the cracks in the window Anne could see that the day was going to be bright and beautiful. It brought a smile to her face, it was just so nice to start the day like that. Her first week of school was over and apparently she had been rewarded with a sunny weekend.
She started to get up with the intention of opening the curtains and spreading all that light around the room when her bedfellow held her arm.
“Stay,” Diana said, sliding her fingers down Anne's arm, still with her eyes closed.
"Good morning Diana, I didn't notice you were awake too."
"I'm not, it's too early."
Anne laughed softly and looked at Diana who still appeared to be sleeping.
Diana who was here in Queens with her instead of across the ocean learning how to be a lady. Diana who was now in her bed, in the room they shared. Diana who every night after the lights went out would come to her bed, and fall asleep running her fingers gently through Anne's red hair, the hair she swore to find beautiful, as well as the freckles that dotted Anne’s face, the freckles that Diana spent hours in the previous night kissing one by one while Anne laughed.
“It's the weekend, we don't need to get up early. No classes today.”
“That's precisely why we should get up, it's a beautiful day outside, do you really want to waste it spending all your time in bed?”
Diana opened her eyes and said:
“If you stay with me, yes. I do. Please. We studied so hard all week, we deserve a morning in bed doing nothing.” Diana said, the tip of her fingers now going to Anne's face, soft and sweet.
“Fine, you won. I can stay a little longer, but not all day."
"Good." Diana said snuggling to her. Tucking her neck on Anne's shoulder, cuddling her, making her feel safe and loved.
"Marilla would say you are a very spoiled girl if she saw you now."
"And what would she say about you?"
"That I am weak when it comes to requests of those I love. That sometimes spoiled girls need some tough loving."
“And you’re going to give me some tough love?”
“No, from me you can only expect the softest things.”
"I'm glad you're like that, if that's worth anything"
"And I'm glad to have someone I can't resist saying yes here with me if that’s worth anything"
“Anne, that’s everything to me” Diana said and placed a kiss on Anne's neck.
The kiss made her shiver, but not in an unpleasant way. None of it really was, it was a beautiful sunny day and Anne was starting to think that maybe spending it in bed wouldn't be so bad. At least not if she wasn't alone.
