Work Text:
The Baltimore Hospital for the Criminally Insane had received a lot of press when they admitted three new patients: Dr Hannibal Lecter, William Graham and (Y/N) (L/N). The Chesapeake Ripper, or Rippers now, were finally brought to justice. Some people didn't think that life-long imprisonment wasn't enough for the three of them but they had been deemed clinically insane and therefore couldn't receive the death penalty as some had wished for.
That didn't mean that Dr Fredrick Chilton couldn't make their lives as miserable as possible. He had made it known to the three of them that they would forever live in the same building but they would never see each other again. Chilton was aware of their... unconventional relationship and how the three of them viewed the others: with nothing but love and devotion.
Chilton had reminded the three of this throughout their stay under his care. Hannibal had reacted calmly but the rage that was sparked from Chilton's taunting could be seen in his eyes. Will had spoken to Chilton in almost riddles, something that the Doctor had put down to his abilities but the more he thought about it, the stranger Graham's words had seemed. And (Y/N) had the strangest reaction of them all, they had remained silent. (Y/N) hadn't spoken a word since she was institutionalised.
It pained Dr Chilton to go back on his word but when Clarice Starling came under Jack Crawford's orders, wanting to speak to Dr Lecter about Buffalo Bill. Chilton hated how much Crawford relied on his patient for this case. It's not that it would set back his recovery and treatment as he had claimed, but rather he liked to see the esteemed Hannibal Lecter fall from his pedestal and Crawford was hindering that. He hated Hannibal having any form of power and he was now in the position to ask for anything and they had to comply.
And, quite unsurprisingly to all parties involved, he had asked for time with his Will and (Y/N), unsupervised.
It took three days for it to be arranged; Will and (Y/N) would be transferred into Hannibal's cell at precisely 10 am and would be removed at 10 pm the same day. They would be alone for exactly 12 hours before Crawford would come.
The transfer went seamlessly, Will was moved first and shortly followed by (Y/N). Hannibal watched silently as he was finally reunited with his lovers.
"(Y/N), Will." He said as he moved to wrap his arms around the ones that he loved. "What has he done to you too."
Will responded, talking of the electrotherapy that Chilton had subjected him to. How it was more torture than therapy, how much it had pained him. But (Y/N) remained mute.
She remained quiet no matter what question Will or Hannibal had asked. She had never been quiet when they were living back at their home, or rather Hannibal's house, (Y/N) had always been making some sort of noise, whether that be humming a song or ranting about the lies spread in the newspaper that day, she had never been quiet for so long.
"(Y/N), my love, please," Hannibal begged after a while, his concern growing even more with every second that passed. "What has he done to you?"
Will moved to sit next to her as she opened, she quickly closed her mouth again, almost as if the words were escaping her as she went to speak them.
"I can't" she whispered once the words had returned to her, "I can't do this anymore. It hurts."
Will shushed her and he brought her into his arms. "It's alright. It'll all be okay, right Hannibal?"
"Yes. Will is quite right." Hannibal moved to sit on the other. "Just hold on a little longer. I will make it all alright again."
"How?" (Y/N) asked but she never got an answer as Chilton entered the cell followed by Jack Crawford, announcing that their time together was over.
Hannibal watched as his loves were taken from him once again before turning to Crawford to start his plan to get his life, his loves back to him once and for all.
