Work Text:
Why would the human ask about the basement?
Why does the human even know about the basement?
These two questions have been plaguing Swatch’s mind since the trio’s recent visit. They never thought they’d have to think about it again. The matter was making it hard for them to concentrate on their work, even if there weren’t that many customers coming by the café.
There’s no way the lightner actually knows about the basement. They were probably just asking an innocent question. Maybe they assumed all buildings had basements and were surprised they couldn’t find it because it definitely doesn’t exist, not at all. And even if they did know, they didn’t have the means to get in anyways.
...Right?
A suspicion creeps its way up Swatch’s back. It couldn’t be... no, last they checked it was still there. It was still there. It was still there.
“Excuse me,” Swatch calls over to one of the Swatchlings. “Could you watch over the counter for a minute? I need to check on something.” The Swatchling nods, and Swatch makes their way out of the café and heads towards the suites. These were rooms specially made for the Swatchlings and themself. It was in their own room where they had hidden the Keygen, a one time use basement key. It was a silly name, but it’s what Queen had called it when she handed it to them. They didn’t find it smart to hide it in the café, so they felt their own room was a much safer place. Going in, they head to where they know they put it. Opening the desk drawer, they find that the Keygen wasn’t there like they had thought-
WAIT WHAT?
Swatch closes the drawer and opens it again. It still wasn’t there. They did it once more, then twice more. No matter what, the Keygen didn’t magically appear in the drawer. Swatch checks the other drawers, still nothing. They look over, they look under, they look left and right, they look into the trashcan next to the desk, they suplex the desk and shake it around, hoping the Keygen would slip through like loose change stuck in a couch.
Nothing.
No, no, no! The Keygen had to be somewhere, it had to be! Think, Swatch thought as they started turning their entire room upside down, did the human sneak past you? No, they were talking with the lightner the whole time. Swatch made sure they had their full attention on them so that they wouldn’t steal anything.
Bad news, the Keygen wasn’t in the bed. More bad news, Swatch would need a new bed as they had karate chopped it in a panic.
Then what about the monster and the prince? They didn’t sneak around at all, instead deciding to wait outside patiently. Plus even if they did try to sneak in, the Swatchlings would’ve caught them immediately. So that also meant the key’s disappearance wasn’t recent. It had been gone for a while.
The once neat room had turned into the after effects of a stampede. They would have to clean up their mess later, but right now the location of the Keygen was the most prevalent issue at the moment. If they didn’t lose it, and the human’s group didn’t take it, then where did it go? Swatch glances over to the last place they haven’t looked yet, the full body mirror hanging on the door. Not like it’d be there if it wasn’t anywhere else. But looking at his reflection, a face comes to mind.
There was only one person Swatch could think of that could have stolen it. Someone who has attempted to sneak into the castle multiple times, and could’ve taken the Keygen during one of their break ins. Someone who has pretended to be Swatch by dressing up like them. Someone who already knows about the secret of the basement.
“I know where it is,” they spoke aloud. They left their room and headed towards the basement.
As soon as Swatch arrived, their suspicions had been proven true. For starters, the secret path leading towards the locked off basement was open. Swatch began their fast pace towards the basement, where they found their second worst guess had come true. The Keygen had been used and now the lock guarding the entrance was gone. And because it was a one-time use, the Keygen was essentially gone forever.
Swatch didn’t have to worry about the Keygen anymore, but that only led to a more pressing issue.
They spot the human’s party, minus the human, waiting by the basement entrance.
“Where is the human?” Swatch asks the two as they approach. They’re both shocked to see Swatch.
“You talking about Kris?” the purple monster clarifies. “They just went back into the basement some time ago.”
“We’re sorry for trespassing,” the prince apologizes. “It’s just that Kris was being very insistent they head alone and-”
“What do you mean by ‘went back’?” Swatch interrupts as they direct their question towards the monster.
“For some reason Kris went down there earlier,” she explains. “Then we went back to the dump and now we’re back here. Honestly, I have no idea what Kris is doing but it better be important.”
“Have they been interacting with anyone suspicious?” Swatch hopes they hadn’t been interacting with him.
“Aside from the creepy puppet Kris has been talking with, no.”
“Susie, that would count as someone suspicious,” the prince points out.
They ignore whatever else the two have to say as they walk past and make their descent. Even if Swatch hadn’t been here in a while, they knew this place like the back of their hand, as they had memorized the entire layout of their grace’s mansion.
They enter the room where they knew it was, and even if they expected it, they couldn’t believe it. The robot, the dream abandoned by the lightner, was up and active. It was also turned away from Swatch, but facing the human. Said human had been backed to the wall, crouching in pain from where Swatch assumes they’d been hit. The robot then turns their hand into an arm cannon.
“I JUST NEED”
The voice speaks slowly and menacingly.
“THAT LITTLE [[SOUL]]”
Swatch knew that voice all too well.
“Y O U HAVE.”
The robot let out a menacing laugh as it got closer to the human. Swatch summons two of his Feather Knives and throws them at the robot. They launch into its back, causing it to collapse on the floor.
“Get out of there!” Swatch shouts. The lightner got up and ran around the robot to Swatch’s side. “Go back upstairs and meet with your friends. You shouldn’t have been here.” The human didn’t respond and didn’t move. They just continued to look at the butler.
“I helped to create the forgotten dream, and now it’s being used improperly. It’s only natural that I clean up my own messes.” That seemed to get the message clear, Swatch assumes, as the human nods and leaves right away. Just in time too, as the old robot suddenly gets back up and turns towards the butler.
The robot was just how Swatch remembered it when they assisted in the colors, only the details the lightner had spent hours designing and redesigning were now just crudely built shapes painted with a clashing color palette. Also the once detail-less face was replaced with a face that could only belong to one Spamton G. Spamton, albeit slightly different.
“HEY, WHAT GIVES?” Spamton practically yells. “NOBODY LIKES A [Third Party] CRASHER!” He gets a better look at the butler before his smile grows. “WAIT... I KNOW THAT [Uniform] ANYWHERE. SWATCH [Long Time No See]!!!”
“Hello, Spamton,” Swatch greets. “It has been a while since your last attempt, and from what I’m seeing... you got what you wanted.”
“YES YES, [[It was me all along]] SWATCH! BUT TELL ME HOW DID YOU KNOW I WAS [Alone In The Basement]???”
“I had noticed the Keygen was gone, and I wouldn’t have if my guest didn’t ask me about the basement.”
Spamton turns away from the butler and starts screaming at the wall.
“DAMMIT KRIS!!! YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO [Keep Your Mouth Shut]!!!” They turn back around.
“[Forget About All That]. I DIDN’T TRICK THEM. I JUST ASKED IF THEY COULD [[Help]] AND THEY [[Performed Perfectly]]. NO [[Tricks]], NO [[Money]], NO [[Nothing]]!” Spamton swings around a bit, showing off his new form. “AND NOW WOULD YOU LOOK AT ME! I’VE BECOME [[Bigger and Better than before]]”
Swatch was in disbelief. “Better? You call this better?”
“NO, YOU’RE RIGHT. THIS BODY IS MISSING ONE [[Key]] ELEMENT. AND I WAS ABOUT TO GET IT BEFORE YOU [[Politely]] INTERVEND.” Spamton swung himself forward towards the butler.
“SWATCH.” He gets closer. “SWATCH.”
“Yes, Spamton?” They could practically see the details of the cruddy craftsmanship with how close he was.
“SWATCH, MY OLD [[Pal]]... MOVE SO I CAN GET THAT [[HeartShapedObject]]!!! I’M THE [[Big]] ONE NOW, SWATCH. I GET TO CALL THE [[Shots]]”
Swatch stands their ground, summoning more of their attacks. “Your height has no meaning to me. I’m still the Queen’s most loyal servant, and her word outranks both of ours. And she ordered me to not let you back in the mansion.” They fling their Feather Knives at Spamton’s head. He backs a fair amount away, but some of the knives still manage to hit and cut one or two of the strings.
“FINE, [[Have It Your Way]]” Spamton elevates himself up into the ceiling. The basement suddenly goes dark.
“[Attention Customers! Clean Up on Aisle 1]!” Spamton shouts from above. “WE’VE GOT A PARTICULARLY NASTY [Patron] MAKING QUITE THE [Hassle]!!”
Swatch then hears something charging at them not just from the front, but behind them too. Swatch had to act fast. Concentrating their magic, their usual monochrome look changes and now they are various shades of blue. All the Swatchlings could do this, but Swatch was the only one who couldn’t have anyone else change it through ACTs. It was all them.
They immediately jump up into the air as a coaster kart came hurling towards them. When Swatch is blue, they can jump higher than they normally could and evade attacks easier. More karts came rolling in, but Swatch is able to dodge all those by jumping from track to track. Two karts rolling down the same track at opposite ends just simply crash into each other with a stock explosion. Soon the karts stop coming.
“FINE, YOU DON’T WANT TO RIDE THE [[Fun Mobile]]? THEN WE’LL JUST FIGHT THE [[Old Fashioned Way]].”
Blue attacks shaped like Spamton’s face suddenly charge at the butler, but they are a step ahead. They change their hue from blue to yellow, summon a few little bird attacks, and have them charge at the heads. Before they can collide, the birds fire a pellet that destroys Spamton’s attacks. For the bigger ones, they aren’t able to defeat on their own with one small pellet and end up getting taken out. Spamton descends back in front of Swatch.
“SWATCH, I AM [Not Mad, Just Disappointed]. YOUR [Big Shot] GAME IS... [[Lacking]]. YEAH THAT’S A GOOD WORD. LACKING! YOU MAKE ME WANT TO [[Chortle]]!!” And [chortle] he did.
The battle truly began. Despite the darkness, Swatch could still see their opponent and the floor below. The best course of action, for right now, was to get Spamton down from the ceiling. Swatch snaps their fingers, summoning more knives and cutting more of the wires.
"YOU CAN’T TAKE DOWN THIS [Heavenly] BODY! It’s got 3X THE [Fire]POWER. 2X THE [Water]POWER. AND BEST OF ALL, FLYING [Heads]! [Flying Heads]
More heads come flying at Swatch. They’re easily able to take them down with their birds.
“I can give credit where credit is due. You seem to know how to give a good performance, but now I ask that you draw your show to a close.”
Swatch changes their hue to red this time. In this form, his birds act similar to the Swatchlings birds in red mode. The difference was that Swatch’s birds did an aerial strike at their opponent rather than simply fly up to them. The birds all launched themselves at Spamton at full speed, managing to either cut more of the strings or peck at his face.
“AH! STUPID [Chickens]! GET AWAY FROM ME!”
Spamton pulls out his laser and fires a heckton of bullets at them. Some of them fly towards Swatch, but they’re able to avoid most of them. One of the bullets grazes their shoulder, slightly tearing it and making them take quite a bit of damage. Swatch wasn’t bothered as the tear could be fixed, but more upset that they got hit at all.
“AH SWATCH, YOU MUST REALLY [Hate] ME SO. IT BREAKS MY [Heart].”
A blue heart with Spamton’s face on it (Swatch was noticing a pattern with the puppet’s attacks) pops out of his chest. It bounces around on a chain as it fires diamond shaped projectiles. As Swatch keeps on dodging, they notice how this attack was going on on a bit longer than normal. It was clear that if they wanted his turn to end, they’d have to stop that heart.
“I don’t hate you, Spamton. You’re just like a cockroach, annoying to deal with and hard to get rid of.” Swatch focuses their energy back to yellow and makes a different kind of bird. It was slightly bigger than the previous ones, making it more difficult for it to dodge attacks, but the pellets it fired were much more powerful. They sent out the bird to deal with the heart. It kept on dodging and firing at the blue thing until both of them were defeated simultaneously.
“YOUR [[Big Shot]] IS GETTING BETTER, BUT IT’S STILL [[Weak]]!!!!”
A phone suddenly falls in front of Spamton’s face. He answers it accordingly.
“HELLO?... WHAT! ARE YOU SERIOUS?” Spamton holds out the receiver for Swatch. “IT’S FOR YOU.” What was waiting for the butler wasn’t a call but rather another attack. It was Pipis... whatever that was. But it was enough to catch Swatch off guard as one of the mysterious blue attacks blows up in their face after it got close enough. Luckily for Swatch, they are able to destroy the remaining Pipis’ easily with a powerful chop of their arm. Turns out cutting up barrels and fruit came in handy.
“I THOUGHT QUEEN WOULD WANT TO [Take Care] OF KRIS AND THEIR [[Merry Band of Misfits]]. AND BY THAT I MEAN MURDER. SO I’M JUST DOING HER A FAVOR!”
“Even if they are enemies of Queen, they’re still guests, and I have to treat them as such.”
“OH SO WHILE THEY’RE [Valued Customer] I’M NOTHING MORE THAN A [Homewrecker]?”
Spamton fires off more floating heads, this time with bombs to make taking them down more difficult. Swatch was able to cut them down, but they made one misstep and had a bomb blow up in his face. Maybe they could try to reason with him, Swatch figured. The fight didn’t have to end in a mess.
“I didn’t always see you like this. You were once an honorary guest at our mansion. Now you’re trying to... I don’t even know what you’re doing? Why do you need to be big? Money? Power? Friends?” Swatch had never even considered why Spamton wanted the robot so badly. They just figured it was an excuse to be back in the mansion, but that didn’t make sense considering how hard he worked to get here. Now that he got what he wanted, what now? And even then, it’s not enough?
“I WAS NEVER IN IT FOR THE MONEY,” Spamton answers. “AND BESIDES, WHO NEEDS [Friends]??? I CAN TURN MY HANDS INTO PHONES.” The puppet wasn’t lying, but still it was another tedious attack to avoid.
Once his turn had ended, Swatch got out a cup filled with their patented Butler Juice and took a sip, filling up their HP a good amount.
“NO... WHAT I NEED NOW IS THE LITE NER’S [Light]! THE [HeartShapedObject]! BUT YOU RUDELY INTERRUPTED ME BEFORE THEY COULD [Show It Off]!”
That still didn’t help Swatch figure out what he wanted from all this. “Their soul does not belong to you, Spamton. Neither did the Keygen or your new body.”
“SWATCH. SWATCH. LOOK AT MY FACE. LOOK AT MY [Eyes], MY [Nose], MY [Mouth] AND TELL ME IF I GIVE A MAUS’ ASS.”
Swatch got a very good look at Spamton’s facial features as they all proceeded to launch some form of attack. It was too close for comfort, honestly. Swatch switches to red and fires more birds at the puppet. They’re able to destroy the nose at least before the turn is over.
“The soul isn’t meant for us darkners. It’s a concept all of its own that we don’t fully understand. Souls are unique to lightners, with human souls being especially powerful. To try and wield it...”
“WOULD MEAN MY [F r e e d o m]”
That wasn’t what they were expecting. “Freedom?”
“YES!!! [Freedom] [Freedom]! I WILL USE THE POWER OF [Spamton Neo], AS WELL AS THESE NEW WINGS, TO SOAR UP TO [Heaven]! ONLY THEN, WILL I TRULY BE [Free]!!!”
Swatch was just confused now, but they couldn’t focus on that as Spamton was back to firing Pipis at them. Somehow, the stench each broken egg shell left behind smelled like rotten glass.
“And how do you know all this will work?” Swatch asks. “For all we know, the soul could reject you.”
“BUT IT HAS TO DO SOMETHING. IT HAS TO.”
Spamton’s next attack was more powerful than his previous ones, a combination of floating heads that spat out pellets mixed with laser blasts. Swatch wasn’t careful enough and took quite a bit of damage.
“THIS MUST WORK! OR ELSE... or else... or else...”
The battle suddenly pauses. A literal record scratch can be heard as Spamton looks to the floor, his arms and legs going limp. His expression goes dark as his lenses display nothing but static.
“What would be the point of all I’ve done?” Spamton asks. “I didn’t want to do this, but I’ve been given no choice. My life’s gone down the drain, my old friends want nothing to do with me, and the only house I can afford on my budget is a back alley dumpster.”
He wasn’t speaking in his usual businessman voice anymore, and it even seemed like his verbal tick was gone. The light momentarily returns to his glasses as he looks up.
“I used to be someone. I used to be something! I was... big! I wanted to be big not for fame or money! I just wanted to be free. Free from my life, free from this world... free from the dark. So that’s why I needed to get big, but I couldn’t do it on my own. Then I found the phone and then... and then...” Spamton trails off as his eyes go dark again. The phone lowers once more. It doesn’t ring, but Spamton answers it regardless.
“Please [Old Friend], please answer the phone. Don’t leave me alone in the dark, I need to know if someone’s there. So please call back. Please...” What follows is a sad, forced chuckle from the puppet. “But nobody answers.”
“Spamton,” Swatch interrupts. “I think I’m starting to understand. Your life must not be an easy one to live. But taking someone else’s dream and taking another being’s soul is not the same as a phone call. Your goals and their goals aren’t the same, so when you take their body that they’ve put extra special care into, you only end up making it ugly.”
Swatch then holds out a hand towards the puppet. “Take my hand and get down from there, please. Let’s just end this silly fight.” Spamton lifts his head and looks at the feathery hand. He seems to consider, but then the phone in his hand rings.
“Hm... huh? I left it on speaker? ...of course.” Spamton lets go of the phone and it lifts back into the ceiling. He then looks back at Swatch, the dual colors back in his lenses once more. “Swatch...” He holds out a hand...
And sticks out his middle finger.
“SUCK MY [[Discount Savings]]!!!”
“...and just when I was starting to pity you.”
The fight continues. Spamton repeats his usual attacks as does Swatch. It all culminates in Spamton getting out what can be considered his Ultimate Attack as he disappears into the dark and reappears bigger than he’s ever been. His mouth and eyes glow a bright blue and he begins sucking in the air. Dollar signs fly past Swatch as they try to keep their footing.
“My apologies for the delay, here’s the big shot you asked for!” Swatch concentrates everything they’ve got and makes the biggest attack bird they’ve ever made. It fires giant pellet after giant pellet to keep Spamton at bay. Eventually he stops approaching and fires back his own big shots (and of course they’re shaped like his face). The last shot doesn’t strike, but instead explodes, turning everything completely white. When the light disappears, Spamton has returned back to his previous size. From this point on, it was pretty much a back and forth of attacks. And then after Swatch has cut a few more of the puppet’s strings, the fight stops.
“WAIT!! [$!?!] THE PRESSES!” Spamton yells. Swatch thinks they know why, as they notice he’s only dangling by one wire. “MY... MY [Wires]... THEY'RE ALMOST [Gone]!?” It was about time he caught on to their plan. Just one more cut and-
“SWATCH... THIS WHOLE TIME, YOU WERE [Gifting] ME MY [Freedom]?”
Okay, maybe he didn’t exactly get it. “What? No, that’s-”
“I KNEW THERE WAS SOME [Goodness] IN YOU! EVEN AFTER ALL I’VE DONE, ALL I PLAN TO DO, YOU’VE DECIDED TO [Turn Over A New Leaf]”
The light returned, though instead of the purple basement walls, Swatch was greeted with a bright blue brick wall with clouds painted on them as an obnoxiously peppy song played on loop. Spamton was swinging his body around in jubilation. Swatch was just... speechless.
“FINALLY, MY DAYS AS A [Long Nosed Doll] ARE OVER. NOW I CAN FULFILL MY OWN [Hopes and Dreams]”
“Spamton, I-”
“SWATCH, MY [Enemies to Friends]. COULD YOU DO THE [Honor] OF CUTTING THE LAST [Wire]?”
If he didn’t want to listen to them earlier, Swatch doubted he would now. Oh well, it’s not like that wasn’t what they were doing already. “Of course, Spamton.”
“[Whoop-de-doo]!!!” Spamton was shaking with excitement. His limbs wouldn’t stop flailing about. “ARE YOU WATCHING, [Heaven]!? IT'S TIME FOR SPAMTON'S [Comeback Special]! AND THIS TIME... I LIVE FOR MYSELF!!!”
Swatch summons one last attack, getting ready to end this once and for all. They fling it at the remaining wire.
“HERE I GO!!!! WATCH ME FLY, [MAMA]!!!!”
The wire was cut.
As Swatch suspected, Spamton stopped moving. The unique features of Spamton’s face were replaced with a blank slate. He then came tumbling down.
The world went dark. When they came to, Swatch and Spamton were no longer on the tracks but instead in a small sector of the basement. The robot body was gone, possibly forever, and the puppet was back in his regular, smaller form. He was also wrapped around his arms and torso in many wires that kept him suspended to the ceiling. Spamton’s glasses had gone fully dark as he refused to make eye contact with the butler, instead finding the floor a more pleasurable sight.
“In the end, I was nothing more than a simple puppet,” Spamton spoke sollumly, once again dropping his usual speaking mannerisms. “You really can’t make it big when you’re on your own.”
Spamton looked so small in his spot, smaller than he actually was. Any previous hope he had before was shattered. Now all that was left was a sad shell of a darkner.
“The lightner who made the robot,” Swatch started explaining. “It was a rough draft for what they had wished to look like one day. I can only assume they gave up because they couldn’t find a foundation for the dream to stand on. The only thing that could keep up what was already made was the wires.”
Spamton looks up at the butler. They thought they could see a glint of hope in his eyes before he sadly chuckles. “Guess it’s fitting my last hurrah was nothing more than a [Hunk of Junk].”
A heavy silence hung in the room. Both of them were unsure what else to say in the situation. At this moment, Swatch couldn’t help but go back to pitying the once menace of the mansion. They soon got to moving. Spamton was suspended high enough that the butler didn’t need to crouch down. They then began to help free the puppet’s right arm from the wires.
“What are you doing?” Spamton asks, genuinely surprised.
“My Queen had ordered me to keep you out of the mansion, not to trap you in her basement,” Swatch explained.
“...I see.”
“Of course, I have my own reasoning outside my orders” When the right arm was freed, they moved on to the left. “Maybe I would’ve left you here, dangling so that you could think about what you’ve done. But what good would that do? It wouldn’t for me and it especially wouldn’t for you.”
The left arm was now free. This loosened the wires around Spamton, allowing Swatch to lift him out easily and gently place him on the ground. He’s still looking down at the ground. Swatch decides then and there it’s not best for him to be on his own, not out of fear he’ll plan something again, but for other reasons.
“I was thinking actually, by now the human and their friends are probably off to fight Queen. If they win, the fountain will most likely be sealed.” Swatch turns back to the puppet and holds out a hand. “In the meantime, would you like to wait in the Color Café for when that happens.” Spamton looks at their hand, the wheels in their head turning. Eventually, they look back up at the butler and take their hand. The way back to the Color Café is a surprisingly silent one.
When they get there, the Swatchlings greet their boss and then follow it up with confusion of them bringing Spamton. Swatch doesn’t explain, instead ordering some of them to watch over him. They do and Swatch goes into the back to make Spamton some fresh butler juice. When they return, Spamton is alone, patiently sitting at one of the tables. He explains that some bird came running in, yelling at the Swatchlings to help as some woman named Susan was in danger as well as her friends. He didn’t understand, but Swatch knew who they were talking about. They place the fresh cup on the table and sit across from the puppet.
Spamton looks down at the cup, then at Swatch, then back at the cup.
“YOU DIDN’T [Poison] THIS, DID YOU?” Spamton asks.
Swatch frowns. “I would not trick one of my guests like that.”
“WHEN DID I BECOME [Valued Customer]?”
“Since after our fight.”
“WHY? WHY ARE YOU BEING SO [Damn] NICE NOW?”
“Because I don’t want you to be alone right now.”
“...[Fair]. I WOULDN’T LEAVE ME ALONE EITHER.” Spamton picks up the cup and takes a small sip. As soon as the juice reaches his mouth, he’s chugging it all in one go. He then slams the empty cup down. “THAT’S SOME GOOD [$!?!]!!!!”
Swatch is surprised the force of the slam didn’t break the cup. “Thank you, Spamton. Is there anything else you would like? A refill? Perhaps some Spaghetticode?”
Spamton thinks for a bit. When he has his answer, his glasses go dark one last time.
“Could you... could you give me my [Freedom]?”
Freedom. Such a vague request. How would Swatch even do that? They barely even understood how the puppet wanted freedom through the robot. “I would Spamton, but I just don’t know how.”
“...I didn’t think you would.”
That’s the last thing Spamton says to Swatch before the world goes dark. Actually... that wouldn’t be the best way to put it. No, the world goes light. It was an experience one might call “heavenly”.
But soon Swatch found themself back in the Dark World, this time at a small little castle town. It was much different than the city, but they quickly found themself getting accustomed to the new place. It started with them and the Swatchlings working at the local café, with them as the boss of course. They even got to see the lightners one last time before they left for the day.
Many old faces stopped by the café, as well as plenty of new ones. The prince of the town, Ralsei, had even shown them their new living spaces. They had a house all to themself, which was a much needed upgrade from their old room. Swatch had left that place a wreck, but he supposed by now it didn’t matter anymore.
They had only trashed their room because they were looking for the Keygen Spamton stole. Yet the puppet had never actually showed up to the café. Actually, Swatch hasn’t seen Spamton since they got here at all. Every other face from the city was here. They figured either they were either hiding from everybody else due to his reputation, which wouldn’t be a surprise as he’s done this since he fell from fame, or he was left behind on the journey to Castletown. Wherever he was, Swatch hoped he had learned his lesson and was doing better.
As Swatch gets ready to close up shop for the night, one last suspicion makes its way in their mind. If Spamton truly wasn’t here, were they able to get their freedom when the light engulfed them?
A part of them hoped that was true if that was the case.
