The man reached up and pinched Steve's chin, wiggled it back and forth. “What’s a handsome boy like you got to pout about, eh?” he said, and then those fingers were pinching quick at his lower lip, tugging it open, letting it go.
These were all recognizable moves, ones Steve himself had pulled on his own boys when they were upset and he wanted to cheer them up.
