At this very moment, Akito and Toya were both sitting together in the Rainbow Cream Cafe. Toya had ordered coffee and a few pancakes, but Akito, on the other hand, had ordered a huge stack of pancakes. They had whipped cream and fruit on them and tons of syrup. Those were way too sweet for Toya's taste, but Akito was scarfing them down happily. That was the best part of being here at this moment. Akito's smile wasn't a rare sight or anything, but Toya could see the pure joy and happiness on Akito's face. Akito's smile was bright. Akito himself was so bright. Toya used to think that Akito was too bright for him to even stand by his side, but now all he wants is to stand by Akito's side and shine along with him.
Toya loved Akito.
He loved Akito so much. The day when Akito had taken an interest in him and asked him to sing for him was when his life started to change for the better. Toya had changed so much in the past few years, and a lot of it was because he met Akito. Toya was no longer the quiet boy who only did what he was told and didn't have a dream. Now he isn't afraid of anything, and he has a dream that he wants to chase, and he knows he'll get there because he has Akito with him.
"Are you okay?" Akito asked and pulled Toya out of his thoughts.
He hadn't noticed that he was just staring off and had barely touched his food.
"Yeah, I'm okay. Just lost in thought for a while there, that's all." Toya smiled gently to let Akito know there really wasn't anything wrong.
Whenever he thought about Akito, he always became spaced out and engulfed in a warm feeling. The feeling of being in love. Before he met Akito, he hadn't even felt such warmth. People like Tsukasa and Saki filled him with a pleasant feeling, but when he met Akito, his world was filled with much warmth, passion, and brightness. Because of Akito, he was happy. Why did Toya love Akito so much? If someone had ever asked that question, then they'd be stuck there listening to Toya for quite a while. The real question was, what isn't there to love about Akito? To start off, Akito was the most passionate person he had ever met. No one worked as hard as Akito did to follow their dreams. He wondered how someone so amazing couldn't see just how great he was in every single way. Akito was also very kind. He'd never admit to how big of a softie he is, but Toya sees it. He sees how Akito takes care of the people close to him and is always willing to help his friend out. He may complain or act like he doesn't want to do it, but Toya knows that Akito has a habit of taking care of others. Akito is always looking after Toya too. Toya would even go as far as to say that Akito was the most reliable person in his life and was always there when anyone needed him. Toya wanted to be someone that Akito could rely on as well. He was so grateful to Akito for everything he had done for him, and at the very least, he'd like to be the one Akito could rely on when he needed a break. For a second, he wondered to himself if Akito felt the same way. Did Akito think highly of him too? Did Akito want Toya to rely on him too?
Did Akito love him too?
Toya felt his face heat up quickly at the thought. He knew that he and Akito were special to each other but love… for the first time in a long time, he couldn't tell how Akito felt. The thought did give him a feeling of worry in his gut but he pushed it away. He knew that no matter what the other felt, they would always be together chasing their dream. This made Toya smile gently again. Akito had noticed and wondered what he was thinking about, but he didn't ask. Akito was just happy. Toya seemed to be enjoying himself.
They didn't exchange many words as they ate. They didn't need to. They just loved being in each other's presence. They paid and left. Akito suggested that they head to the Sekai to practice and visit the others, and Toya agreed. They had ended up walking to the street where they first met that day.
Akito pulled out his phone to take them to the Sekai, but before he could do anything, almost without thinking, four words left Toya's mouth.
"Akito, I love you."
