    “Do you want to look like your dad, Yuki?” Mizuki was standing shoulder to shoulder with Mafuyu in the mirror. They’re taller than Mafuyu is, but the heels they were wearing made the height difference bigger. "Do you think you're a boy?"

    Mafuyu never has much of an opinion, most of her life has been dictated by her mother.

    Until an accident in school resulted in Mafuyu's hair needed to be cropped short. Now, every time she looks into the mirror, she feels a strange lilt of satisfaction in her chest. She doesn't understand why.
