    Roy exhales slowly and runs his hand through his hair. Still damp from the shower, his fingers get tangled in the strands and he yanks them free. He looks back to Jason finally and sighs again. “I’m scared, Jason.”

    “I know, baby. I know.” Jason brings his hands up to hold Roy’s face between his palms again. “But I’m here, I’ll always be here. It’ll be okay, I promise. I’ll make sure it’s okay.”
