Summary
It loomed larger than any human she had ever seen, its black and blue fur billowing in the breeze, more one with the darkness than apart from it. Long clawed hands rested at its side, more than capable of tearing her apart. However, most frightening of all, was the ram’s skull that stared at her balefully from beneath two curling horns. Its single eye bore into hers, piercing blue; the other was nothing, but bottomless black. Byleth wanted to scream, but the sound would not loosen from her tight throat. The monster continued its approach and she could do nothing, but tremble in her place.
“I have answered your call,” said the monster. It was almost a man’s voice, only wrong somehow, filled with the sound of crackling leaves, the creak of ancient trees, and the turn of dark earth.
