Work Text:
Shadow had been laying down on the couch reading a book when Silver had groaned from across the room. He usually only did that when something was wrong. Shadow looked up over the edge of the book. “What’s wrong, darling?”
Silver sighed. “It’s just the group thinks that I have a girlfriend because I mentioned I was dating someone, and now they want to meet her, but I don’t think I’m ready yet to tell them the truth.” Shadow nodded. It was okay with him if Silver didn’t want people to know about them yet. “I’ll just make up some excuse, like uh, she’s sick with the flu.” Silver quickly typed up the message and sent it. He hoped no one in the group chat would ask for further details.
Shadow kept reading his book until a few hours later when he heard Silver bang his head against his hand. “Now they want to know her address so they can come over and give her flowers.” Silver let out a groan. “I’ll tell them she- fuck it. I’m telling them.”
Shadow looked back up. “Tell them what?” He looked back to his book.
Silver started to type a message. “That I’m gay and dating you.” He waited for a response but didn’t get one. Why weren’t they responding? They were all just online. Maybe they had all just gotten busy. Yeah, they were just busy. Silver put his phone down and turned on the tv, just some old cartoon he remembered watching as a kid.
Silver felt hurt that his ‘friends’ didn’t even respond to his message. Did they not like him anymore? No, no, no, they did like him still. They were just busy. He sat there waiting for a response that would never come.
