Work Text:

Blaze felt something off with everyone since Shadow and Silver had come out to the group. No one brought up their names or even wanted to see them.

Well, there was one person who wanted to, Rouge. She had stuck around Shadow and Silver, no matter what the others had said. They were her friends, and she wasn't going to abandon them like that just because of what gender they dated.

Blaze wasn't sure what being gay meant, but part of her wanted to ask. That part was too scared to ask, though. Maybe she could ask Rouge; she seemed to know what it meant.

That was what led her to be standing at Rouge's doorstep in the middle of the night.

Should she knock? Was it impolite to knock this late? She decided to knock anyway.

Much to her surprise, Rouge opened the door. "Oh, hi Blaze."

Blaze sighed. "I needed to ask you something."

Rouge let her in. It wasn't very often that a princess came over asking for advice. "So, what's up?"

Blaze was led to the couch. "Well, you hang out with Shadow and Silver still, so I assume you can answer it. What is this "gay" concept?"

Rouge smiled. "It's basically where you can only develop romantic and or sexual feelings for someone of the same gender."

Wait, that was what everyone was mad at Shadow and Silver about? Well, she didn't see anything wrong with that. "Oh. that doesn't seem bad at all."

Rouge sighed. "Yeah, but... some people think it's wrong."

That didn't make sense to Blaze. They weren't hurting anyone and were happy. "Are you gay?"

Rouge tilted her head. "Well, I'm a lesbian, but same thing, and genderfluid."

Blaze hummed. Maybe she was a lesbian. She thought girls were more pretty than most girls seemed to think they were. "I think I'm a lesbian."

Rouge's smile returned to her face. "That's cool. 'Cause I uh..."

Blaze smiled, knowing what she was trying to say. "Me too."
