Work Text:

“My love,” Persephone ran towards her husband through the gate of the Underworld. Her feet were barely touching the ground as she burst into his arms. Hades’ long black hair flew back from the impact as they reunited. Persephone’s arms wrapped around his long and elegant neck. He lifted her up and the strong arms closed her in a tight hug. He breathed in her scent of fresh flowers, sunshine and warmth. Things he never thought he would need in his life but now they meant home.

“My darling, I have missed you so much,” he whispered into her ruby hair. Her hands grabbed him desperately and her plump pink lips finally found the thin grey lips. They kissed as they could never get enough of each other.

Finally, Hades placed her down on the ground and caressed her face with love.

“Every time you leave my heart shatters into million pieces, and every time you come back you breathe life into me once again,” he kissed her again.

“And wouldn’t you want another wife, who doesn’t have to leave?” she cradled his face and looked up into the dark eyes.

“Never,” his voice was stern and his fingers ran through her hair. She leaned into his touch. “I get to fall in love with you every time I see you again,” he breathed a kiss on her parted lips. She was shaking with desire.

“What are you waiting for?” she whispered. “Take me, my lord.”

In a swish of his cape, they were in the bedroom she knew so well. Hades was kneeling in front of her, his hands on her hip, looking up at her with adoration.

“I am all yours, my queen,” he purred and they melted into one in a passionate kiss.

Persephone drew her legs up under the heavy fur blanket. It lightly scratched her sensitive skin, giving her goosebumps. She was staring at the dark onyx walls, following the natural patterns.

“Darling,” Hades sat down next to her on the bed. “I have a surprise for you.”

“I don’t need any gifts,” she smiled at him. “You are more than enough.”

“I know,” he said fondly and caressed her face. “But I also know there are things from the world above you miss,” she wanted to say something but he gently placed his finger on her lips. “And that is okay. You belong there as much as you belong here, with me,” he twirled her hair around his finger. “I can’t bring much of that world here for you, since no living thing can stay here,” he paused for a second. “So, this was the best I could do,” from behind his back he took out a bouquet of flowers. They were dried. It was carefully assembled from the most colourful and bright flowers, so even now, in death, they kept their colour and gleamed with dark blue, red and all kinds of pastels.

“This is beautiful,” she took it with shaky hands and tears came to her eyes.

“I didn’t mean to make you sad my love,” he said alarmed.

“You make me so happy,” she smiled through the tears. The Spring of Goddess looked down at the delicate flowers and found them one of the most beautiful bouquets she has ever seen.

Day 19 is done.

I have no clue where this came from, but I just saw too many edits and drawings of these two recently. I hope you enjoyed it.
