The boy quirked an eyebrow and scoffed, taking another puff of cigarette. "It's a little late for that now."
"I know I fucked up. I know it'll take time to repair my wrongs and mend what I've broken, but please let me. I-I love you."
Glassy eyes deflected the plea desperately trying to make its way through the thick walls encircling his heart. "This ain't no fucking fairy tale, man."
He looked at the sky, releasing the thick smoke, and turned to the other one, his eyes settling on him for a moment.
He crushed the stub with the heel of his foot and disappeared in the dark of the night.
