yanfei was a busy lawyer, as anyone would expect. she spends so much of her time working alongside her clients that her girlfriend, hu tao, has worried about her on multiple occasions.
hu tao always tries to bring food up for their tired lover after a long day with her clients, water when she gets off a call, and lots of acts of affection whenever they can. today, they noticed that yanfei hadn't gotten much sleep, and was basically dozing off at her desk. this worried hu tao, why doesn't yanfei ever take a break?! she knows she deserves one, yet she never takes one.
yanfei was up late that night going over a client's court case when she felt a soft creature squeeze their way into her lap. she looked down and was met with the sight of their cat, innie. she stroked innie's ears softly with a smile before getting that smile knocked right off when she focused back onto her work. yanfei put her head in her hands for a minute or so until the door to her study opened, scaring innie and making her jump off yanfei's lap.
"yanyan, how is the case going?" hu tao walked in and closed the door to the study with a platter of food in their hands. they set the platter down on yanfei's desk and gave her a kiss on her cheek.
"it's... a lot, to be honest" yanfei sighed. hu tao stood there for a few seconds, before taking a seat on their girlfriend's lap, putting their arms around her.
"does this help?" they asked, muffled by yanfei's shoulder. she brought them closer to her body.
"much better, please stay here, thank you love" she said.
hu tao laughed and pressed a kiss to her jaw. "of course, i'll stay here until you're done"
yanfei kissed their forehead "what did i do to deserve you, really?"
"by being pretty"
