Wei Ying once again studied the powder. “Something that allows the foxes to steal wisps of our energy.” At the junior’s look of alarm, he gives a bright laugh. “Don’t look so frightened. If it was something to be concerned about, we would already be feeling the effects. Besides, fox spirits don’t kill, they just like to rile humans in some manner. Lots of excess energy for them to consume when we are overcome with some emotion.”
The four juniors seemed to take Wei Wuxian’s words to heart, their shoulders slumping in relief. But not even a couple of seconds later, Jingyi lets out a questioning sound. “The only thing I feel is… warm.” He looks between his friends and his senior. “Don’t you feel it?”
Wei Wuxian concentrates. He realizes Jingyi is right, the only side effect of this powder is so subtle that he didn’t initially catch it with his golden core being so weak. His skin is emanating much more heat than it should be, especially since it is so bitingly cold outside. Almost like he just stepped out of a hot bath.
Jin Ling answers for all of them, “Yeah, almost too warm.”
