Work Text:

When people think of Suna Rintaro, they often think of a very, very talented middle blocker who often looks as if he would rather be anywhere else than on the court.

When Suna thinks of himself, he thinks he’s talented at volleyball sure but his biggest talent comes from Osamu; the man he would go to the ends of the Earth for.

So why, why was he ignoring the amount of times his phone was blowing up with Osamu texting him asking if he was okay.

He wasn’t.

Maybe that’s why he wasn’t replying.

He didn’t really know what had happened. Things had been okay, he’d been on top of it, his medication had finally started working after trying three different ones but here he was three days into one of the worst slumps he’s had for years. Not going to practice, not picking up his phone.

Part of him felt like his whole life was ending and the other part of him didn’t care if it was. He lacked the motivation or care to get himself up, he wanted to text Osamu and tell him he was okay, he wanted to text his teammates to say he’d be back soon, Hell he even wanted to text Atsumu to tell him he was okay.

Suna had known Atsumu for a long time, so in turn, knew how much he panicked about the people he cared about most. People thought Atsumu was an asshole who only cared about himself but he knew better than most.

And, he also knew though he wouldn’t express it outwardly as much that Kiyoomi was going to be worried. Suna wasn’t sure when the two of them had become best friends but he knew they were and was grateful for that fact.

“Suna! It’s Komori!” Suna jumped slightly at the loud banging on his door, he immediately wanted it to stop, his head pounded against his skull.

“It’s open.” He didn’t even expect Komori to hear him but he guessed his friend was used to it now as he came barrelling into the apartment all the same.

“Oh Suna,” Komori mumbled quietly coming to kneel in front of the sofa. “You’re not okay, huh?”

“Not really.”

“Do you know what’s wrong?”

“No,” he whispered, trying his hardest to fight with the tears that wanted to fall.

“It’s okay Suna, I told Captain it would probably be a week or so before you came back and just wanted to let you know we’ve all got your back, I’m just gonna go call real quick. Okay?” Suna nodded because he didn’t know what else to do, part of him wanted to tell him not to leave that he didn’t want to be alone but he stayed silent instead.

Komori stayed with him for another couple of hours but who he really wanted was his boyfriend, Atsumu and Kiyoomi there with him.

It was 9pm according to his clock hanging over the TV when someone else knocked at the door, he kept his eyes closed, hoping they would go away and leave him alone but they didn’t.

“It’s open!” He managed to shout.

As soon as they walked into the room, Suna immediately knew who it was. Atsumu was trying his hardest to be quiet but it wasn’t something he was the best at. Suna’s heart fluttered in his chest, Komori hadn’t stepped out to call the team, he’d called Osamu.

“‘Tsumu go stick this on the table would ya?” Suna could hear the rustle of a take out bag before Osamu was suddenly appearing in front of him and kneeling in front of the sofa.

“Oh Rin,” he sighed, opening his arms for Suna to fall right into.

“Samu,” he cried, letting the tears fall freely this time as he clutched onto Osamu like his life somehow depended on it.

“Shh Rin, it’s okay,” Osamu soothed, rubbing his hand up and down Suna’s back.

For the first time in days, Suna felt himself slightly relax to the feeling of Osamu rubbing his back, he could feel Atsumu playing with his hair and Kiyoomi resting a reassuring hand on his shoulder.

“It’s going to be okay Sunarin!” Atsumu cheered, moving so he could sit next to him on the sofa.

“I’m going to prepare the food,” Osamu stated, letting Kiyoomi past so he could sit next to Suna. “I’ll be back in ten love.” Suna nodded, moving to rest his head against Kiyoomi’s arm instead whilst Atsumu continued to rub his shoulder.

“Thanks for coming.”

“Of course Rin,” Kiyoomi said gently.

The four of them ate dinner together quietly.

As soon as he was finished, Rin returned his head into Osamu's lap, just wanting to be close to his boyfriend. He was still shocked that he was there with him along with Atsumu and Kiyoomi. Of course, the four of them were family and he would travel to the other end of the country for them but he was shocked that Komori had called Osamu, was shocked that all three of them had managed to drop everything and turn up at his apartment unannounced. He smiled softly, nuzzling his face into Osamu's leg.

"Ya gonna be okay Rin," Osamu whispered, threading his fingers through Suna's hair. "I love you so, so much."

"I love you too Samu."

The apartment was quiet again apart from the sounds of Osamu humming quietly and Atsumu talking quietly to Kiyoomi and he was thankful because this time, he wasn’t alone in the silence. But it was a better silence, not a lonely silence because Suna wasn't alone anymore, his family were there with him, supporting him and loving him. And, for the first time in days, it felt like everything might be okay after all.
