Work Text:
Every time Nathaniel bragged that eventually he was going to be taller than Marc one day, the writer just rolled his eyes fondly and patted him on the head. Height was something he had over his boyfriend and he was going to hold that over his head (heh) forever.
With that thought in his head as he entered the school, Marc squinted at his boyfriend as the artist chatted with Alix. Something seemed… different about him.
Nathaniel yelped as he was suddenly pinned to the wall by Marc, who had rushed over without warning or even a greeting, “H-Hey, babe?!”
The writer put a hand on the top of his head before sliding it over to Nathaniel’s forehead. The artist was still confused and scared. Did he come to school with bedhead? Was there something on his face? Nathaniel’s mind was running rampant with each second that Marc was silent.
Finally, the other narrowed his eyes, “When the fuck did you get taller than me?”
Nathaniel blinked, “What?”
Alix looked back and forth between the two before bursting into laughter, “He is!”
Nathaniel’s eyes sparkled as he stood up straight, “I CAN SEE THE TOP OF YOUR HEAD!” He smiled brightly. Marc would’ve found it cute if it wasn’t at his expense.
“This is bullshit,” The writer muttered. “I will be taller again. Bet on it.”
Nathaniel laughed, “Good luck with that babe.”
Marc crossed his arms with a little pout. He wasn’t going to need luck.

After the weekend had passed, Marc strolled up to Nathaniel with a sly smirk, “Hey babe.”
Nathaniel turned to greet his boyfriend, “Hey!” His smile fell off his face. “Are you kidding me? Are you seriously kidding me?” Nathaniel measured their heights against each other, “You’re taller than me again?!”
Marc giggled, “Maybe."
“Nooo,” Nathaniel whined, “I finally get taller than you and you suddenly get a growth spurt!” He pouted, leaning on his boyfriend’s arm with a little huff of indignation, “This is unfair.”
Marc smiled at his boyfriend, “Sorry! Just how the world works, you know?”
Nathaniel didn’t have to know he bought boots with heels over the weekend. All he could do now was pray the artist didn’t look down.
