Work Text:
Tommy woke up slowly. Not in a pleasant way of feeling well rested, no. Instead his head was pounding, joints stuff from lack of use, and nose so clogged, he could hardly breathe out of it.
He groaned and stretched and headed off to the bathroom in hopes that maybe a shower would make him feel better.
He was wrong.
Throughout all of his classes he could hardly pay any attention, got in trouble for dozing off, and kept on coughing and sniffing, annoying everyone around him. At least it was nearing lunch where he can annoy Tubbo and Ranboo into pitying him. No forget that, he doesn’t need any pity, he’s a Big Man who can fend for himself! But… free food and attention…..
Sometimes pity is okay Tommy decided and headed out to the trios regular table.
Tubbo and Ranboo were already there by the time Tommy arrived and flopped settled himself down.
“You good man?” Ranboos eyes filled with concern for the usually upbeat and boisterous teen in front of him seeming so tired.
“All good Big Man! Just a tad stuffed up,” Tommy attempted to put up a facade of his usual self, but failing miserably when a cough tore through his chest.
“‘All good’ my ass Tommy” Tubbo scoffed “you look like shit, I’m calling Wilbur to pick you up.”
“No….” Tommy whined complained said in a very manly voice “Wilburs busy, don’t bother him. And how am I going to get my many women when I’m not in school!”
“You’re not gonna get any women if you’re sick Toms,” the amusement of Tommy’s antics was obvious in Ranboos words.
“Done, Wilbur’s on his way,” Tommy made a soft sound of protest as he buried his head further into his arms.
Sure enough, 10 minutes later Tommy got a text from his brother saying that he was there. When he got to the car he could tell that Wil was already in ‘mother hen mode’ as Tommy and Tech called it, and sighed internally.
“Hey Toms, Tubbo said you weren’t feeling good,” here comes the coddling. Wilbur pressed the back of his hand to Tommy’s forehead and frowned, “you’re a bit warm, lets get you home.”
The lull of the car nearly put Tommy to sleep but soon enough the car pulled into the driveway and Wilbur led Tommy inside. He took out Tommy’s softest pjs and left Tommy to get changed. When Tommy finally left his room, Wilbur lead him downstairs to the living room and left to grab as many blankets and pillows as he could manage, dumping them all on Tommy as he screeched. Wilbur arranged the blankets and pillows into what could almost be comparable to a nest, with Tommy swaddled up in the centre curled up against Wilbur’s side.
“What movie do you want, Toms?” Wilbur looked down at his little brother and curled around him.
“You know what movie I want dickhead,” Tommy all but mumbled into his side and he could almost melt as he grabbed the remote and picked ‘Up’.
Within the first few minutes, like clockwork, Wilbur heard Tommy sniffle. Without so much of a word, he wrapped his other arm around Tommy and pulled him impossibly closer.
“Where’s Phil and Tech?” Tommy’s words slurred as he interrupted the silence between the brothers.
“They’re on the way,” Tommy hummed and they fell back into comfortable silence only interrupted by the movie. Tommy soon fell asleep.
Phil and Techno arrived half an hour later with some random takeout that Wilbur didn’t care about. He hustled hushed them as they came in as Tommy was still dozing. When they caught sight of the youngest, they coo’d at the normally brash teen who always refused any sort of help. Seeing him all curled up against his brother was so unalike him and reminded Phil of when Tommy was little and was clingy to anyone and everyone he met. A small smile graced Phil’s face, he looked over at Techno and saw his own expression mirrored on his oldest’s face, so unlike his normal stoic expressions.
That’s the Tommy effect, Phil joked to himself. He watched Techno settle himself on the other side of Tommy and gently, oh so gently, scooped Tommy from Wilbur’s grasp and tucked him against his chest. Phil then lowered himself next to Wilbur, the younger moved himself to press against his father as Phil wrapped his arms around Wil.
The family settled and set to watch the movie playing but, as Carl got the blimp from Muntz, the last pair of eyes closed and the takeout left abandoned in the fridge, waiting for someone to awake, hungry.
