Work Text:
There were a few bodies lying on the couches at the Height Alliance common room. Said bodies were the Dekusquad.
“I’m so bored!” Ochako whined. “Can we do something?” She asked the squad.
“We could spar at the Gym? But Aizawa-sensei would probably not let us use it though...” Izuku mumbled, half to his squad, half to himself.
“I would like to spar and train but like Midoriya said, Aizawa-sensei would just ask us to rest.” A monotone voice could be heard agreeing, with Midoriya.
“Pfft- as if you guys would obey his instructions.” Hitoshi mumbled to himself, amused. Tenya shot a look to his boyfriend.
Tenya did a robotic movement with his arm, “I agree with Aizawa-sensei! Our bodies would also need rest! It helps prevent injuries and allow our bodies to recover as this will allow us to perform at our best.” Tenya casted a side-glance at a certain broccoli head and then continued reading a book that were in his hands.
“So, we need to do a relaxing activity.” Hitoshi stated.
There were hums of agreement from the squad.
“What about we watch movies? It’s relaxing and entertaining,” Tsuyu said, tilting her head to the side.
“That’s a great idea, Tsu-chan!” Ochako replied enthusiastically. Tsuyu smiled at the girl as a reply.
“Ah, okay I’ll check what movies we have,” Izuku said, getting up from the body pile and went to the TV to check if the USB was there and then look for the remote that is somehow always missing? Once, the remote was on the stairs. Oh, also. It was behind the fridge once and Izuku had to lift the fridge like it was nothing, unsurprisingly, Eijirou’s nose bled. The remote was also in the oven once? Thank goodness it wasn’t on. Talk about weird. But then again if their class isn’t weird, that’s not class 1A. Anyways, to Izuku’s luck, this time the remote was on the TV stand.
While Izuku was looking through the movies, Tsuyu went to the mini kitchen that the dorm provided to get some snacks and beverages.
“Have you guys ever watched ‘Frozen’?” Izuku asked.
While Tenya and Ochako answered ‘yes’ and Toshi mumbled an unamused ‘of course’, Shouto asked them a question.
With his face scrunched up, deep in thought, he asked, “What’s ‘Frozen’?” and oh boy of course this boy doesn’t know.
Shouto could hear a gasp and he looked for the source, who was Ochako.
“You- Uh. Have you heard about ‘Disney’, Todoroki-kun?” Izuku asked, he stopped looking through the movies to give his attention to Shouto.
Shouto just stared at Izuku, “Am I supposed to know?” he asked.
Tenya putted down the book he was reading and started his explanation with his signature robotic hand movement, “The Walt Disney Company or commonly known as ‘Disney’, is an American multinational entertainment and media. In short, Disney makes animation movies for decades and kids tend to enjoy watching them.”
“You recited that like you memorized those words straight out of a website… It’s cute, babe.” Hitoshi said with a lazy smirk. At that, Tenya blushed, embarrassed.
Tsuyu who came back with snacks and heard the conversation, voiced in her input, “Well it’s entertaining for any age, it’s enjoyable for me.”
“Yes, I find it interesting to watch. It also has good morals.” Tenya said with a firm nod.
Some understanding was in Shouto’s eyes.
“You know what, let’s watch 'Frozen' together! Oh- what if we have a movie night?” Ochako suggested with a smile, determination evident on her face. There is no way a friend of hers doesn’t know about Frozen or the other masterpieces.
“I don’t mind watching movies but have you guys finished your homework yet? I believe as students of a prestigious high school; we should finish them first.” Ever the responsible one because who would keep the squad under control if it wasn’t Tenya Iida.
“Awh, Iida-kun! It’s a Saturday night! We can do it when we have our study session tomorrow or something.” Ochako said.
Tenya was about to open his mouth but Hitoshi stopped him before he said anything. Hitoshi then said to Tenya; “Tenya, listen, Todoroki-kun doesn’t know what ‘Disney’ is. Let him have some fun, we’re trying to relax right now aren’t we?”
With a sigh, Tenya nodded and made them promise to do their homework tomorrow to which the squad agreed. At the confirmation of them could do a movie night, Izuku who had been holding the remote, and had been muttering something about how the directors somehow ‘predicted’ the future by giving the main character, Elsa, a mysterious ice power or in their era, a quirk, and he also had been watching Ochako, Hitoshi and Tenya’s little argument, he pressed the ‘ok’ button on the remote now the movie, specifically Frozen, started.
The intro of the movie could be heard throughout the quiet common room. The volume wasn’t that high but somehow Mina and Tooru came running down the stairs and asked loudly; “Are you guys watching Frozen?! Can we join?" "OH- can we invite all the class members to watch?!”
The movie now paused, the Dekusquad looked at both of the girls.
“I don’t see why not.” Tsuyu answered.
“It’ll be fun to have a bonding time with all of us!” Izuku said.
At this, Mina and Tooru went back upstairs and called the rest of the Height Alliance residents.
“I guess I have to get more snacks,” Tsuyu said to the squad.
“I’ll help you, Tsu-chan!” Ochako said.
“Can I help too? There’s a lot of us, I think you guys need another hand.” Shouto asked the girls.
“Sure, we could use some more hands to help.” Tsuyu said, getting up from her spot on the couch and headed towards to the kitchen.
While Tsuyu, Ochako, and Shouto went to get some food and beverages for their classmates, Izuku and Tenya made the common room cozier with pillows and blankets.
After a few minutes, all of their classmates were in the common room, Denki was snuggled up besides Katsuki whose face was a bright red, Mina’s head was on Tooru’s lap, Ejirou and Izuku were both on the floor, well majority of the class couples were together and the rest were just vibing in their own places with some snacks with them. Besides, who needs a partner when you can have food?
“I’m going to start the movie now!” Izuku said, holding the remote and pressed ‘play’.
The intro music blasted through the speakers, their movie night has begun.
“The animation is beautiful…” Shouto muttered under his breath. His eyes were watching the auroras that were animated on the screen.
“Yes, it is, just like you.” Hanta replied, holding Shouto’s hand. You can hear the smirk in his voice.
“Oi stop muttering you lovebirds, go be all lovey dovey somewhere else.” A Pomeranian whisper-yelled. Jealous that you’re too scared to do that in front of your classmates?
At this, Hitoshi, our sarcastic little shit replied. “You’re one to say, Pomeranian. You’ve been giving Kaminari those heart eyes and had been thinking no one saw that.”
Multiple ‘shh’s' could be heard, some even snickered with Hitoshi’s retort.
The screen now displayed little Anna, being dramatic and waking up her sister, Elsa. The girls all gave out quite little ‘awe’s at the scene.
When the screen showed little Elsa, who was covering their ballroom with ice, Shouto looked amazed, just like little Anna did in the movie. Hanta thought Shouto looked adorable.
Meanwhile, Shouto thought that little Elsa somehow got a good grip on her ‘power’ and wondered if she went through training just like he did when his quirk manifested but immediately scratched the thought out because the children were looking so happy and at peace. Which now made him thought about his siblings when they were younger and just how much precious time had he missed spending time with said siblings.
Hanta saw some sadness in Shouto’s eyes, he holds his boyfriend’s hand tighter and looked at the boy with a silent question of ‘are you ok?’. Shouto just gripped Hanta’s hand in return to show that he’s fine.
Now, focusing on the screen, it was the part where little Elsa accidentally shot her little sister with her ice. Shouto let out a quiet ‘oh no’. He just started watching this movie not even for 10 minutes but he’s already attached to the siblings. I mean, who could blame him?
Shouto saw Elsa calling her parents and he just can’t help to think about his parents. His mom would probably help even though she couldn’t stand half of his face when he was little but he knew she would help if he needed it. Well except once… Anyways. His father? Well that’s a different story.
He saw the concern etched on the King and Queen’s faces. Oh, how they’re lucky to have such caring parents.
At this point the class’ eyes were glued at the screen, paying attention to what the ancient troll to which Shouto had deciphered was named, Grand Pabbie was saying.
After those warnings and advices, all Shouto could think of was how could they lock up a sweet little girl in a room? That is not how you help a child control their powers. It’ll just make the power stronger and at some point, it’ll burst.
Well he wasn’t the only one who thought about that, he could hear Izuku’s muttering about how they were supposed to handle the situation, Izuku’s thoughts were almost identical to Shouto’s and he’s proud of himself for having the almost same thoughts from the class’ analyst.
‘Oh of course the good parents died.’ Shouto thought bitterly. Some of his emotional classmates cried when Anna attended her parents’ memorial alone.
The song before all of this happened was cheerful but then… It took a sad ending. Now the sisters are not as close as they were when they were children. Though, Shouto admired the way Anna didn’t give up on trying to befriend her sister for years. It takes a lot of patience to do that. She really loves her big sister.
Why have a ballroom with no balls?
“Exactly! She’s asking a real question people, please answer that. Why does a ballroom have no balls?” Denki asked, his face with genuine curiosity.
“Idiot, the word ‘ball’ in ball room originates from a Latin word which is ‘ballare’ that means ‘to dance’. So, the ballroom doesn’t mean a ball room but it fucking means it’s a place where people dance.” Katsuki replied, his face looked smug for knowing the answer for the question.
“Please refrain from swearing, Bakugou.” Tenya sighed.
“I say whatever I want, four eyes.”
“Damn it. It’s the villain.” Mina gruffed out.
“What villain?” Shouto asked, clueless that there’s only Anna and a brunette on the screen.
“Mina! Don’t spoil the story, it’s Todoroki-kun’s first time watching…!” Ochako whisper-yelled at her pink friend.
“Oops, sorry...”
“That is not safe at all! Please refrain from doing that!” Tenya said at the screen that showed Anna sliding down on the railing of the stairs.
“Y’know she can’t hear you, right?” Hitoshi mumbled, half-asleep.
“I- yes, I know but please refrain from doing that act.” Tenya replied.
“Iida-kun, we’re literally training to be heroes, it looks fun and worth the risk!” Ochako said.
Hitoshi swore he heard his boyfriend said something with the lines of ‘you guys are going to make me grey at an early age.’ Doesn’t know what to reply with, Hitoshi just patted Tenya’s back.
“Ah, mademoiselle Elsa looks magnifique!” Yuuga said.
“Agreed but poor her! She looks stressed.” Mina stated.
Multiple sounds of agreement rung through the air.
“They’re finally going to talk to each other!” Kyoka exclaimed.
“Oh god they’re so awkward…” Momo mumbled, having second hand embarrassment looking at the two sisters talk.
“When two people who haven’t talk with each other for a very long time, their conversation can be an awkward one.” Fumikage suddenly replied.
The screen now displayed the sisters saying the word ‘chocolate’ in sync.
“At least they still have some similarities!” Tooru said.
“And the Duke just had to interrupt their conversation, not manly at all.” Said Ejirou.
“You don’t just meet each other for not even a day and say it’s ‘true love’, mademoiselle Anna.” Yuuga said with a shake of his head.
‘Elsa is going to freak out if Anna is that insistent- and… of course she took off Elsa’s glove.’ Shouto thought.
Shouto saw the way Elsa’s face was scrunched up, her eyes showed fear. “She’s scared…” he mumbled.
At his right, he could hear Izuku mumbling about Elsa’s outburst and how this could’ve be avoided in the beginning if they just helped her by letting her practice with her powers and not control to conceal it and also if Anna didn’t force her to give her answers. Shouto agreed.
“In all honesty, that scary ice fountain is pretty though” Hanta said.
“Anna you don’t just ask someone you barely know to-“ Someone said, not finishing their sentence, Shouto heard them let out an exasperated sigh. Mood.
“Oh- It’s my favourite scene!” Tooru said enthusiastically.
“I think all of us like this scene, the song is very cool.” Tenya said.
“C’mon guys! Let’s sing-along!!” Ochako said, already singing the first line.
Shouto, not knowing the lyrics, just listened to his classmates attempt at singing -which, in his opinion was good- and watched what Elsa was doing on the screen.
‘I should try build a snowman… It seems easy.’ He thought.
That was what was on his mind for the whole scene. He now wanted to try to build a snowman, an ice staircase, a whole ice castle and an ice dress. The question was, where could he try and do these?
After the movie night finished (where they watched both of the Frozen movie, Lion King and Finding Nemo in which Kouji cried to the both of the movies), they went to bed because according to Tenya, it was late. Which was true, it was almost 1 am and they had to do their homework in the morning.
It was a beautiful Saturday morning. Shouto woke up early, did his morning routine, ate his breakfast and then went outside to the dorm’s backyard. Time to finally try them out.
‘Let’s try the easiest one first,’ he decided.
Shouto concentrated and imagined Olaf’s shape and estimated the size… and, voila! Oh… It didn’t turn out how he wanted it to be. This Olaf’s face was too round.
‘It’s fine, practice makes perfect.’ He said to himself.
Some Olafs later, he finally made the perfect Olaf and proceeded to make more.
“Hi, I’m Olaf. I like warm hugs…!” Shouto imitated Olaf’s voice and re-did that one scene from Frozen where Anna and Elsa were children and played with snow in the ballroom.
Hanta, who was looking for Shouto, saw what his boyfriend was doing and joined him.
“Hey Love, what are you doing?”
Shouto stopped making more Olafs and turned to the voice.
“Oh… I’m trying to recreate what Elsa did with her ice...?” He replied, unsure if Hanta wouldn't laugh at him.
'Hanta's nice, he would never do that.' Shouto thought.
“Woah so you’re making Olafs? That’s so cool!” Hanta said.
“Oh oh- are you going to try and make the staircase and the ice castle too? Can you maybe do the ‘water has memory’ thing? Do you want me to stay here and keep you company?” Hanta asked.
“Some company would be nice, thanks.” Shouto replied with a small smile. “Also, that’s the plan. I’m also going to try and make the ice dress, it looks cool.”
“You’ll look hot with a dress on, babe.” Hanta said and winked at Shouto who flushed red.
Turns out, he could make the staircase and now, the backyard has a mini sized ice castle. Shouto and Hanta wanted to make a bigger one but after thinking about the pros and cons, they decided to make it a mini sized.
Unfortunately, ice fabric wasn’t possible so Shouto in an ice dress couldn’t be seen that day. Hanta was a little sad but it’s fine, Shouto is hot either way and Hanta loves Shouto for who he is.
Damn it! He couldn’t do the ice horse, he was really looking forward to it and not going to lie, he cried a little. He swore he heard ‘Hello darkness my old friend’ playing in the background when he cried, Fumikage was probably basking in his sadness.
Also, the ‘water has memory’ wasn’t achievable too. Shouto was a tad disappointed, but hey, he now has a mini ice castle and multiple Olafs as his friends now.
“Oi, Coway what in the winter wonderland is this?” Shouto and Hanta heard someone's voice. That someone was obviously the class’ Pomeranian, Katsuki Bakugou.
“Hi Blasty! We’re recreating whatever Elsa did in the movies!” Hanta replied.
“Woah that sounds fun!” Ejirou said.
After that, all of the Height Alliance’s residents went outside, played and had fun with Shouto’s creations. They're still teenagers after all.
A few hours later, Shouta Aizawa got a knock on his door.
“What is it now?” he mumbled. It was 1 in the afternoon on a Saturday for fucks sake. It’s nap time.
He opened the door and wasn’t even surprised to see his number 1 Problem Child, standing there awkwardly and fidgeting.
Shouta sighed, “What did you do this time?”
“I- I didn’t do it! Well… this time it wasn’t me-” Izuku stuttered out.
“If it’s not crucial like someone dying, I don’t want to get involved. I don’t get paid enough for this...” Shouta said, mumbling the last part.
“Well- um… I guess it’s not crucial? Just, if you see multiple Olafs and a mini ice castle in the backyard, don’t be too surprised. Also, saidcreationsaremeltingawayandismakingthebackyardsemi-flooded...” Izuku said the last part nervously.
Hold up- “Olafs? Ice castle? Is this Todoroki’s doing?”
Problem Child nodded.
With a sigh he asked, “Did you let Todoroki watch Frozen?”
“Well- uh yeah? We had a movie night a few weeks ago,” Problem Child replied.
“Alright, that’s not my problem.” Shouta said and slamming the door shut.
“Problem children. All of them.” He mumbled and continued his nap.
