Fundywastaken Week Fall Editon

Summary:

Seven fwt stories written for the Fundywastaken Week Fall event organized on Tumblr by Clairedreems! The chapters are separate and unrelated, I just missed writing some casual and mostly fluffy one-shots without them being connected to something!

Prompts are all from different songs from Taylor Swift's Red (Taylor's version)!

Notes:

Here's the event announcement and the prompts! Check them out if you have a moment!

Also, I just want to say that while I did listen to all the songs the prompts are from, I'll be referencing the entirety of them for only some of my works here! I just figured some things will be easier to write that way, I hope you don't mind!

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Chapter 1

Notes:

“Spinning like a girl in a brand new dress, we had this big wide city all to ourselves.”
— “ Holy Ground

This is one of the fics that was inspired only by the prompt, not the entire song... Hope you still enjoy it! I was aiming for around 500 words because I had little time to write, but it's somehow 1500?? It happens, I guess???

Also, I'm not titling the chapters because I include the prompt in the notes and I don't like how it looks like when it's there two times

Chapter Text

If Fundy had any common sense left, he’d probably stop, acknowledge how horrible this idea was, and turn back around. Unfortunately, he was pretty sure he lost all of it the moment he came up with his little idea a couple of nights back. It was during one of his many secret meetings with Dream when he suddenly announced he’d try to sneak into his part of the land so they can meet somewhere new for once. He didn’t think the man took that seriously, because who would, after all? It was a dangerous scheme, entering the Greater SMP as if the war meant nothing, but he already made up his mind and he was just about to prove how stubborn he could be. He confidently walked in the cover of the trees, already planning all the fun things he and his boyfriend could do once they met… and just then, he heard other people coming in his direction.

The reality of the situation dawned on him and he quickly ducked behind a short bush near him, doing his best to stay hidden and listen to their voices. He recognized some of them, mostly from the battlefield, which was… less than ideal. He kept absolutely still, and counted over three different people before he gave up on that, there was no way he’d be able to beat them or escape them if they as much as noticed him… There was a single good thing about this, though. He listened, and listened, and… Dream wasn’t with them. He’d recognize his voice within a second, it was the simplest thing on earth to do, but he simply wasn’t there. Which meant he was most likely still at home. And most likely without his friends near. His plan was still going to work.

Fundy patiently waited until the voices of the Greater SMP’s citizens faded into the woods before leaving his hiding spot and continuing on. After just a moment longer of walking, he was already at the edge of the forest, and for the first time in forever got to see his boyfriend’s country. It was… big, that was the first word that came to mind. The buildings were far apart from each other, wide roads stretched between them, multiple bridges allowed crossing of the nearby river, and a lot of space stayed unoccupied. Despite all that, there wasn’t a single person in sight.

He left the forest and started to stroll down the nearest road, keeping an eye out for Dream while he did so. He felt surprisingly safe for being in the enemy's territory, probably because he was convinced no actual enemies were anywhere near him. And hey, if they were, he was sure his brilliant boyfriend would find a way to keep him alive, so was there even a reason to be worried? He didn’t think so, but he still had enough wisdom to stop himself from just calling out to the man… that would be just asking to get caught at that point.

He spent a couple of minutes wandering the empty streets before he finally spotted a familiar man in a green hoodie. Dream’s back was turned to him and he was carrying a couple of iron swords, slowly walking down a path very close to Fundy. With a grin creeping onto the fox hybrid’s face, he sped up and crossed a couple of patches of grass just to get to him as fast as he could. Before he knew it, he was already walking right behind the man, he could probably put a hand on his shoulder now… he had a different idea, though.

“Hi, Dream. Do you need help with those?” he asked, still grinning. To say that his boyfriend was startled would be an understatement, the man practically jumped, and the weapons he was carrying scattered across the ground with a loud noise accompanying them.

“Fundy?” he gasped, looking the fox hybrid up and down as if to check if he was really there. “What are you doing here?”

“I told you I’d visit soon, didn’t I?” Fundy answered with a proud smile. He noticed Dream looking around, and shook his head at that. “Don’t worry, I heard a bunch of people leaving while I was getting here. I don’t think anyone’s left here to catch me.”

“...Right, they went… oh, that’s…” Dream relaxed at the reminder. Right, they were alone now. “...Yeah, I could use some help with the swords,” he answered finally.

“Alright,” Fundy nodded, crouching down to help collect the weapons his boyfriend dropped. “So, where are we taking them?”

“...Well…” the man hummed in wonder while picking up some of the swords as well. “...We could just leave them in the community house, really,” he decided finally.

“Sure. And then what?” Fundy asked, letting Dream take the lead… he knew the roads better anyway.

“Hm… I think we should just stay there then. It’s a nice building,” he answered with a shrug. That sounded more than alright to Fundy. “...Or something else, I didn’t exactly plan for this.” the man added.

“No, no, it’s alright. The community house sounds good,” the fox hybrid assured. He noticed Dream speed up at that, much more eager to lead the way now. Still grinning, Fundy picked up the pace as well, he couldn’t wait!

They soon got to the community house, a cozy-looking building in the middle of a small lake, with wooden bridges reaching it from four different sides. Dream walked inside first, keeping the door open for Fundy as well, and they both set down the swords on top of one of the many chests by the entrance. While the masked man made sure they were all placed neatly by each other’s sides and wouldn’t fall off, his boyfriend took a look around.

“...This is really nice!” he announced finally, getting Dream’s attention with that statement.

“I’m glad you think so,” he answered. For a moment, they stayed in silence, maintaining just eye contact. Then, Dream spoke again. “...Wanna go up to the roof?”

“Can we?” Fundy asked, that sounded good! His boyfriend nodded enthusiastically.

“Yeah! As you said, there’s no one left here to catch you. Us,” he answered… Fair, Fundy did say that.

“Let’s do that, then,” he nodded, walking back to Dream’s side. The man held out a hand for him, and he didn’t hesitate for a moment before taking it and letting him lead him again.

The view from the rooftop might’ve not been the most impressive, sure, the community house wasn’t the tallest building around. Still, it was decent, it let them see the closest things in the Greater SMP better, and it was… it wasn’t hidden. Fundy paused when he realized that. It was the opposite of hidden, even. It was so visible that anyone could spot them if they only looked up… and they weren’t doing anything to stop that from happening. It was a new feeling. It was a great feeling. He looked down for a moment, they were still holding hands. They weren’t hiding and sneaking around, they were holding hands for everyone to see and…!

Apparently, he wasn’t the only one taken aback but charmed by the moment, because before he knew it, Dream pulled him closer and into a hug. He laughed quietly at that before returning the gesture, wrapping his hands around his boyfriend with no intention of letting go anytime soon. It was such a little thing, just not hiding for once, but it felt special. They were out in the open, they could do anything they wanted and there was no one there to stop them, they were together and they were free, they- Fundy’s head felt like it was slowly spinning, it’s been a while since he felt enough joy to make him lightheaded… But luckily, he had Dream’s arms gently holding him, making sure he kept his balance. When they both suddenly swayed to the left, stumbling a bit to make sure they didn’t fall, but only reacted with a low giggle and still refused to let go… That was when he started to suspect that that incredible feeling happened to be mutual. If anything, it made him less eager to end the embrace any time soon.

“...I’m so glad you’re here,” Dream admitted quietly, just as interested in backing away or hiding again.

“Hey, I can visit here more often,” Fundy offered with a grin.

“Wh- Don’t, they don’t all leave every day!” the man exclaimed, but rather than dramatically pushing the fox hybrid away, he turned the embrace into a more protective one. Fundy nodded, he figured that much out.

“Alright,” he agreed, ever since he almost got caught in the forest he realized that visits might not be the smartest idea. “I’ll just stay here for as long as I can, then,” he announced. He felt Dream nod at that proposal.

“Please do,” he answered quietly.

Fundy did stay, he didn’t leave Dream’s side until long after nightfall. There wasn’t a single reason to go, after all! No one else was around, they had this entire… town? City? Country? With the low number of people leaving there and its grand size, the fox hybrid wasn’t sure what to call it, but it didn’t matter. For the day, and for the night, it was just theirs, and there were so many things to see!
