Work Text:
Marinette was working on the new rustic look line, which should have been something different and fun. To put it mildly, it wasn’t coming together easily. Every article of clothing and accessory was a work of labour and she had to work late into the night more than once.
One night she woke up with a start to find that her neck was hurting because she’d fallen asleep on her work table, her arm bent at an uncomfortable angle and barely working as a pillow.
“What is this?” Adrien asked and she realised it was him who had woken her up as he came to check up on her.
“A bonnet,” she said around a yawn. “A damn bonnet. Who needs a bonnet, seriously?” She was very sleepy but also ready to rage. This was the bane of her existence and she still needed to finish it.
“Come on, Marinette, you need to sleep,” he said gently, prying the bonnet from her fingers before she could shred it to pieces.
“I fell asleep while working,” she groaned. “But I still have so much to do.”
“You need to sleep in a bed, m’lady. Too many late nights can sap your creativity and damage your work flow, so you’re not doing anyone a favour by being stubborn. We’ll set an alarm and you can continue in the morning.”
When he put it like that, it totally made sense. But even before she could agree, he took her in his arms and carried her to the bed.
“Why are you up so late anyway, kitty?” She asked, snuggling into him.
“I missed you,” he said, a smile in his voice.
He laid her down and she was sure that she couldn’t resist the siren call of the pillow now that she was there. It was much better than her arm, definitely, and the hard table couldn’t hold a candle to her soft bed.
She curled in Adrien’s arms and the last thing she remembered were his lips, gentle and soft against hers. And then she was out like a light.
