Work Text:
Vi and Caitlyn complimented each other so well. Caitlyn's long range to her close range combat. The rifle and the fists. The brains to her brawns. Where Vi jumped in head first Caitlyn took her time to plan things out. Caitlyn helped ground her more, and Caitlyn's methods helped Vi out many times, they were effective, no matter how much Vi liked to tease her partner about not taking risks. But in this case... it was driving her insane.
Vi liked Caitlyn. She liked her a lot. She never thought she would be crushing on a Topsider, and an Enforcer at that, and yet here she was. Her crush was obvious to anyone who knew her. Except for Caitlyn. Or maybe she did know, because to Vi it was obvious that Caitlyn had a crush on her too. But no matter how much Vi flirted with Caitlyn, the girl would just stutter, blush and make up an excuse to leave. So Vi decided to let Caitlyn make the first move. That was months ago.
Sure Vi adapted to situations faster, she kind of had to learn that growing up in Zaun, and Caitlyn took her time, studying and planning her every move. But Vi wasn't some big obstacle, she was her partner, someone Caitlyn could trust, talk to and confide in. So why did it take so long? Should Vi say something? Just flat out ask her? Would that come out too aggressive to the Topsider? Great now she was the one overthinking it.
"Rough night?" She recognized the voice and immediately relaxed.
"Not anymore Cupcake." Vi leaned backwards in her chair, looking up at the worried face of her partner, "Late night desk work?"
Caitlyn sighed, "Afraid so. What are you still doing here? I thought you would go home after patrol. Or wherever it is you go." She walked past Vi and into her office. Vi followed after her, a mischievous grin on her face.
"There's nowhere I'd rather be Cupcake." Vi's voice came out low and smooth. Caitlyn paused to look at her over her shoulder a small blush on her face. The sniper chuckled, leaning her sniper rifle on the wall behind her desk. Vi sat in the chair in front of her, one hand behind the chair, the other in her lap, still with that same charming grin.
Caitlyn tried to focus on her work, but she kept glancing up at Vi. The woman's mere presence was distracting. Which is why she came here so late, she hoped that she could finally get some paper work done. No such luck though. And Vi wasn't even doing anything, just watching her work. No flirting or teasing or snarky remarks. And yet Caitlyn couldn't seem to concentrate on anything other that Vi, that smirk of hers, those eyes, the little scars, her lips...
It wasn't until Vi laughed that Caitlyn realized she was staring. She could feel her blush traveling to her ears and her neck. Was she so obvious? If so why didn't Vi make a move? She flirted with her often and Caitlyn thought she liked her. Caitlyn certainly liked Vi. But she couldn't think of a way to say it. Vi was from Zaun, she wouldn't be impressed by flowers, or fancy parties, or expensive gifts or clothes. But those were all Caitlyn knew. It's what was expected in Piltover.
If Caitlyn was to court her then she had to do it properly. Only she didn't know what was considered such to Vi. She'd spend many night trying to think of a perfect date, but always seemed to lack... something. And Caitlyn couldn't figure out what. It was driving her crazy as much as Vi herself did.
"Something on your mind? Or are you just enjoying the view?" There it was again, the flirting. But it was harmless, Vi was just a charming, flirty person.
Caitlyn bit her lip, "Um..." She glanced from Vi's lips to her eyes, "I was just..." Unconsciously she licked her lips.
Vi's eyes widened when she caught the movement. Her heartbeat speed up by a lot. She gulped as she made a decision. She leaned in, just a bit. Maybe Caitlyn just needed a little motivation, a little courage, a sign.
"You were just..." Vi glanced down at Caitlyn's lips as well. She could hear her breath hitch. And she was certain that she had a matching blush by this point, if the heat in her face was anything to go by.
"I was..." Damn it! This was so difficult. Actually no, no it wasn't. They were just words for fucks sake. If she can't say them, then how does she think she'll ever get the nerve to do anything else with Vi. And she wanted to do so many things with her. She had to swallow her pride, just go for it for once in her life, "I was admiring you. A lot."
Vi couldn't hold back her grin, "Yeah? And why's that? Not that I mind."
"Because there's something..." She glanced at Vi's lips again, "Something that I've been thinking about for long time now." Vi sat up from her chair, leaning over the desk, close to Vi, their faces almost touching.
"That's your problem Cupcake. Sometimes you think too much." Vi's husked tone was too much. She couldn't handle it anymore. Caitlyn captured her partners lips with her own, Vi didn't waste a second before kissing back.
It was better than either of them imagined. It felt like a wonderful dream. Sweet and passionate, slow and hot. They wanted to savor this moment for as long as possible. Caitlyn's hands cupped Vi's face, tracing her VI tattoo under her eye. Vi hummed at the touch, there weren't many in her life that touched her so gently, lovingly. It made her heart melt.
She tilted her head to the side, her tongue asking for entrance. Caitlyn was all to happy to oblige and deepen their kiss. The room started to grow hot, along with every touch, every brush of lips and tongues. Their lungs were burning, asking for air but they wanted to push trough so badly. The need for air soon became too much and they separated, gasping for air, eyes locked on each other.
Caitlyn didn't even notice that she crawled closer as they kiss, she was almost on the table.
"See what happens when you just dive in? Not to bad is it?" Vi's hand came to rest on Caitlyn's hips and if she allowed it Vi would have pulled her onto her lap.
"I have work." It sounded like a bad excuse, especially with the way Caitlyn kept glancing back at Vi's lips, "But you could stay! I mean... I'd like you to stay."
Vi chuckled, Caitlyn was so cute when she was all flustered like this, "Whatever you want Cait." With one more kiss on the top of Caitlyn's cute nose Vi plopped back down in her chair, enjoying the way Caitlyn had to blink a few times to compose herself.
The Sheriff cleared her throat and sat back down, "After this maybe we can go out? For some food and drinks. Like a date."
"Thought you'd never ask Kiramman. There's a little restaurant close to my place. It's not too fancy but damn is the food good." Vi felt like drooling just thinking about the food.
"Alright. I'll try to get these done quickly." There was quite a few things she had to go over but she was confidant she could get them done at a reasonable hour.
"Take your time. You're so sexy when you concentrate on something. Watching you work is a real pleasure." Vi winked earning herself a shy smile and numerous stolen glances over the next hour.
