Lose Yourself in the Rain

Summary:

The wonderful start of Cometstorm's singing career.

Chapter Text

“Thank you for having me. Hope my songs are as good as my sisters have told me they are,” Cometstorm said after finishing the last song of the show.

The crowd cheered whether it was because they actually liked her songs or were just so drunk on energex that they would have cheered for anyone. Cometstorm still couldn't believe that she got to play at Maccadam’s for her first show. Usually only the most popular singers and musicians got to play here. Buzzsteel had said he was friends with Maccadam though so that might explain how she got booked.

“You did great,” Solarstirke yelled, obviously drunk.

“Thanks, but I don’t think it was that amazing,” Cometorm said sitting down in the booth next to Solartrike.

“It was good, didn't you notice how packed this place got,” Starblaze said softly from across the table.

That’s when Cometstorm noticed just how packed the bar actually was. Bots had started clearing out since the show ended but every place there available to sit at was filled and there was still several bots standing around.

“You’re right. I can’t believe I didn’t notice until now,” Cometstorm said quietly.

“How could you not. I’ve never seen this place packed like this,” Solarstrike loudly said, almost spilling energex all over the table.

“I think it’s time you stop drinking. I don’t want to have to carry you home again,” Cometstorm said chuckling.

“You got it,” Solarstrike said, quickly sliding her glass of energex toward Starblaze.

“Hey are you Cometstorm,” asked a red and white bot in the booth next to Cometstorm, Solarstrike, and Starblaze.

“Yes, who are you,” Cometstorm asked grumpily.

“I’m Ratchet. I work with Blowtorch occasionally,” Ratchet said.

“Your Ratchet. Honestly out of all his friends I didn’t think you would be the one to come to my first concert. He always said that you were a bot that just focuses on work,” Cometstorm said smiling.

“Of course he said that. That fragging nuisance thinks just because I care about medical protocols slightly more than he does I focus too much on work. Though to be honest I only really came here because he would not shut up about your first gig and I wanted to see if your singing was worth all his bragging. Unfortunately it seems it is,” Ratchet said gruffly.

“Thank you. Yay, Blowtorch really likes to brag about us. I’m sorry you have to deal with that but I guess if you say I’m a good singer then I am,” Cometstorm said, straightening up fluttering her wings slightly.

“Now don’t let my praise go to your head. I still think he was exaggerating about your ability. He was comparing you singing to that of Firewind’s for Primus’s sake,” Racket said shaking his head.

“Of course he did. He’s been doing that since I was a young sparkling. I don’t think my singing is anywhere near as amazing as Firewind’s though. She was the first trine leader after all and I’m just an ordinary bot,” Cometstorm said chuckling.

“Well I best get going, my shift starts in a cycle and I don’t want to be late,” Ratchet said walking towards the door.

“We better get going, it seems like Solarstrikes going to try to order another drink,” Starblaze said quietly pointing to Solarstrike stumbling towards the bar.

“Okay did you already pay,” Cometstorm asked, ready to leave.

Starblaze nodded as Cometstorm slipped a silent let's go at Solarstrike through their trine bond.
