Work Text:

It was a Friday night when Peter was getting ready for bed, he always loathed when he was alone. All because Tony, his fiancé, was on a business trip to Sweden. “Why Sweden? What does Sweden have to offer that I don’t?” Peter looked around their new house which they had recently moved into a week ago. Of course there were still boxes everywhere, because how can one person unpack them all alone? The answer is because Tony had to leave on a business trip only a couple of days after they had moved in. Leaving Peter to deal with all the mess.

Instead of being moody he picked his phone up and decided to call Tony, a few seconds later he picked up. “Hey babe, how are you? How’s everything going with the unpacking?” The older man asked. “I hate being alone, but I've packed up two or three boxes, I think.” The young man answered. “I know babey, but I’ll be done with this soon, I promise. I love you soon-to-be my husband.” Tony said, apologetic. “I love you too.” Peter hung up after that.

“I’m hungry, I should probably eat.” He said to himself. So he went into the kitchen to get food but of course he hadn’t stocked the kitchen yet, so he went and looked for some boxes that belonged to the kitchen and got a little feeling. So the young man went upstairs in search of the speaker, but stumbled on a box and fell on the ground. He groaned in pain for a second until he realised that it didn’t hurt that much, “Why do I have to be so dramatic. Peter the drama queen coming through!!” “Excuse you, stupid box.” He sighed and moved on. After he found what he was looking for Peter went back downstairs and connected his phone and chose his favourite playlist on Spotify.

A couple of hours later he had taken every box labeled ‘kitchen’ and filled the shelves with anything and everything. He was almost done, but while he was playing so loud music Peter didn’t even hear the door opening… or that his phone had missed calls from Tony.

What caught Peter’s attention was the creek of the floor, he stilled his movements, afraid that it might be an intruder so he grabbed the knife that was conveniently on the countertop and spun around. But to his surprise there was no one there, just Peter and his knife. He breathed a sigh of relief and thanked God that he was alone, so he put the knife back where he took it and breathed in and out. But out of a random instinct he looked back at the counter and saw that the knife was gone.

Peter flicked his eyes up and felt a breath on his neck, then the hand on his shoulder.. and then a kiss on his neck and another. He heard the person say, “I missed you.” “AAAAH Tony seriously!! Fuck you, why’d you have to scare me like that!” Peter turned around and looked at his fiancé and kissed him. “I missed you too,” “But you could’ve texted or called that you were coming home earlier instead of scaring me.” Peter whined. “I did, I called you like five times.” The older man said in his defense. “Oh, sorry, I must’ve forgotten to turn off ‘do not disturb’.”

“But where did the knife go then?” he asked. “Yeah well I took it, since I would much rather stay alive and not die..” Tony looked at Peter and then at the knife and said, “Sorry if I scared you, I just wanted to surprise you.” “But I love what you have done here, how long have you been going?” The older man asked. “A few hours, I think.” Peter responded.

“I love it. I’m sorry that I left you all alone to deal with all this crap, I shouldn’t have done that.” Tony said. “It’s fine, you are here now, which is all that matters. Besides, I got to decorate the kitchen. You know I love to organise.” Tony opened his arms in a hug whom Peter embraced and rested his face on Tony's chest. “By the way, what was the dealership's reaction to you leaving in the middle of the deal?” Peter looked up at the older man. “Let’s just say I won’t be making deals in Sweden for some time. But it’s worth it, you are worth it. Always.”
