Chapter Text
Taehyung can’t help but groan as the late morning sun hits his face, ultimately making him lose the battle for a couple more minutes of sleep against his body and mind. He lets out another groan as he stretches his body, a pleased little shiver running down his spine when his joints crack just the right way.
Only once all his limbs are all nice and loose does Taehyung finally open his eyes, blinking a couple of times to get rid of the dryness in them before he reaches for his phone on the bedside table. His eyes need a couple of moments to focus before he manages to read the time, but as soon as the numbers register in Taehyung’s brain he bolts right up and lets out a small gasp.
He doesn’t know how it managed to slip his mind completely, usually he would have already been bouncing up and down the house a couple of weeks before, excitedly counting down the days and talking his boyfriends' ears off about how he couldn’t wait for Christmas season to begin. Taehyung supposes he must have been more stressed at work than he thought, seeing as December 1st quietly managed to creep up on him.
It’s then that he finally registers the faint noises echoing through the house, too silent to really make out what is being said but there is no mistaking the deep and low rumble of Yoongi’s and Namjoon’s voices contrasting against Seokjin’s and Hoseok’s slightly higher and airier ones.
Taehyung smiles to himself, the excitement that usually builds up during the weeks before December hitting him in full force now, making him rip the duvet off of his body and almost forget about grabbing his glasses before he is bounding down the stairs and into the kitchen to join his boyfriends.
“Hyungs, hyungs, hyungs, do you know which day it is?”, he pants as he makes it into the kitchen, his arms resting on the countertop as he tries to catch his breath and lets his eyes drift from Namjoon and Yoongi who are setting up their dining table to Seokjin and Hoseok who work side by side in the kitchen as they prepare breakfast.
“December 1st?”, Namjoon says, his eyebrows furrowed in confusion as he looks back at Taehyung.
“Exactly hyung, it’s Christmas season!”, Taehyung exclaims, barely waiting for Namjoon to put down the plate he had been holding before running over to him and wrapping him up in a tight hug as he twirls them both around a couple of times.
Quiet and fond laughter fills the room as Taehyung and Namjoon come to a stop again, Namjoon still a little disoriented as Taehyung grins back at his other boyfriends.
“And here I was thinking you got over your Christmas phase, what happened? You would usually already be walking around the house singing Christmas songs on a loop.”, Yoongi asks with a teasing smile, laughing softly when Taehyung looks at him in shock.
“First of all, how dare you call it a phase hyung, I thought you knew better. Also, I guess the project had me more stressed than I realised because it really did slip my mind until I saw what day it was when I woke up.”, Taehyung lets out with a small sigh, but quickly puts a smile back on his face when he sees hyungs’ worried expressions. “I’m fine, I promise. And hey, better late than never, right?”, he adds with a hint of mischief, pulling his phone out of his pocket and quickly connecting it to the set of speakers they keep in their kitchen.
Seconds later the sound of trumpets faintly fills the kitchen as the speakers’ play Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas. Taehyung watches as his boyfriends’ playfully roll their eyes at him for a moment before they can’t help it any longer and fond smiles spread over their lips instead, Seokjin softly humming along to the song as he and Hoseok get back to finishing breakfast while Yoongi finishes setting up the table as Taehyung promptly steals a reluctant Namjoon for an impromptu dancing session.
“Taehyung-ah, will you go and wake up the two sleepyheads and bring them down for breakfast?”, Seokjin asks as the third song in Taehyung’s playlist slowly fades out in the background, rewarding Taehyung with a quick peck when he nods in answer.
Taehyung continues humming along to the next song as he makes his way upstairs again, his body buzzing with the excitement of the season and a small smile etched onto his lips as he thinks about how lucky he is that he gets to spend it with the six people he loves the most.
He finds Jimin and Jungkook asleep in Jimin’s bed and he can’t help but smile fondly as he watches them for a moment, Jungkook’s body practically wrapped around Jimin’s, like he always does whenever he falls asleep with one of his boyfriends. Which is pretty much on the daily.
Taehyung gives them a couple more moments of blissful sleep before he throws himself on top of them, placing kisses all over their faces and any available surface of their bodies until they’re both fully awake and whining at him to stop. But really it is the only way to wake the both of them, he has years of experience to attest that. (Although he is very aware that he is probably just as hard to wake up, their hyungs’ very much love to remind the three of them that they really are the babies in their relationship in that aspect.)
It takes a couple of more minutes for Taehyung to finally get Jimin and Jungkook out of bed, minutes spent lazily kissing the both of them and promising that breakfast is ready and waiting for them, and down to their dining room where their hyungs’ are already gathered around the table waiting for them.
Breakfast is a chaotic affair as it always is whenever all of them manage to get together for a meal, which can be really difficult when you’re trying to match up seven different schedules but they try to make it happen at least once a week. The table is filled with laughter and banter as they share the food amongst themselves, of course making sure to rain enough praises to towards Seokjin and Hoseok, watching in fond amusement as Seokjin’s ears turn redder and redder with each comment and Hoseok tries to look away every time before they catch sight of his little dimples poking out. It’s moments like these that Taehyung loves the most, all of them together, engrossed in conversations with each other, playful teasing and laughs all around as they try to feed each other food, moments like these that make him the happiest, that fill him with love for his boyfriends, his family.
Jimin, Taehyung and Jungkook are on clean up duty since their hyungs took care of everything before, the three of them turning their chores into a karaoke session as they loudly sing along to Taehyung’s playlist while putting away the leftovers and cleaning the dishes.
It probably takes them a little longer than necessary because they get distracted with dancing a couple of times, giggling softly against each other whenever they realise that they actually are in the kitchen to get some work done and not just sway to the sweet melody of It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas.
They do get done eventually though, still giggling softly as they make their way into the living room where they find the rest of their boyfriends, Hoseok and Namjoon cuddled up on the couch as they watch whatever is playing on the TV with Yoongi typing away on his phone next to them and Seokjin on the floor in front of them working away at his laptop.
“Done with the clean-up?”, Hoseok asks, moving closer to Namjoon so they have enough room to join them on the couch.
“Yeah, took a little longer because these two kept insisting on dancing along to the songs.”, Jungkook rolls his eyes teasingly, immediately bursting into laughter when Jimin and Taehyung start complaining that he was at least just as much at fault as them while hitting his arm and shoulder playfully.
“As much as I would love to watch you decide who really is at fault and hash out a punishment, I’m afraid I have to go into work earlier than expected. One of the juniors is having some issue with the program and they need me there to help figure out what the problem is.”, Seokjin interrupts their fight a couple seconds later, giving them an apologetic smile.
“But we haven’t done the Secret Santa draw yet hyung, you can’t leave before that.”, Jimin says, looking towards Taehyung for reassurance. “Yeah, hyung. It’s tradition that we do the Secret Santa draw on December 1st.”, he adds, crossing his arms in front of his chest to show how serious he is.
It really has been tradition amongst them for a couple of years now, back from when their individual relationships finally merged into one big one between them all and they were all still more or less struggling college students or starting to work and couldn’t really afford to get presents for all six of their boyfriends. Things have definitely changed since then, not only are they surer and more established in their relationship but also in their work lives, but the tradition still stuck with them.
“I... I can spare a couple more minutes but get everything ready while I pack up all of the stuff I need for work?”, Seokjin asks, smiling softly and giving them both a quick kiss when they nod in answer.
It’s quick work, Jungkook running upstairs to dig through his closet for one of the bucket hats he always used to wear a couple of years ago while Jimin and Taehyung grab a piece of paper to write their names onto before they carefully tear it into pieces so they have exactly seven slips of paper with seven names.
Taehyung is always excited about Secret Santa, of course he doesn’t really care about who he pulls, his mind usually already brimming with various ideas for each of his boyfriends. No, what he finds the most exciting is the anticipation of finding out who pulled him, or who his boyfriends pulled, always trying to figure out who got paired with who by the time Christmas Evening arrives.
They gather around their couch table to pull names, playing their obligatory rounds of rock, paper, scissors to determine the order in which they’ll get to pull names, Seokjin yelling in excitement when he is the final winner and is allowed to pick first.
Taehyung watches carefully as his boyfriends start pulling names out of Jungkook’s bucket hat one by one as rock, paper, scissors has once again proven to not be his best skill, leaving him as last. He doesn’t mind it though, likes that it gives him an excuse to watch all of them and try to guess who his boyfriends pulled, although he still doesn’t have much of a clue by the time it’s his turn to pull, all of them having years of practice at hiding whose Secret Santa they are.
He smiles as he pulls the last slip of paper out, leaning back so no one would be able to see the name that’s written on it as he reads it, putting it into his pocket for safekeeping afterwards.
The years have told them that there is no use in grilling each other about who they got, and if they were honest, they like the surprise of it too so they would rather keep it a secret and maybe guess on their own. Taehyung definitely is excited to see who pulled him, who his boyfriends pulled and what gifts they will come up with and of course how his recipient will react to his.
