On the 26th of December, 201X, while the sun was still rising, a young reindeer and her sister went up to the Dreemurrs' house, dragging two sleds. There, Dess met her friend, who had his own two sleds and a groggy sibling. December and Asriel had a fun activity planned for the kids. There was a hill to the north of Asriel's house, perfect for sledding down.
After they arrived, Asriel proposed that they build snow forts. Even though that wasn't on the itinerary, Dess liked the idea.

Forget the fact that he and James were sworn enemies less than two years ago. Ignore how Keith is the odd one out, the broke ex-foster kid forging his own way as an adult agreeing to spend a week with the wealthiest people he knows. Don't think about the years of history between James and his friends, and definitely don't compare it to the maybe one good year James and Keith have had together... not to mention all that came before they made amends.
