Summary
Loathe as he is to admit it aloud, Lance has always been sensitive socially. If he’s not begging and pleading for attention, he doesn’t seem to be able to get anyone to notice him at all. He’s wondered time and time again if the rest of the team feels it now, but he himself has felt the rift between them from almost the beginning. They’d come together, peaked as a team soon after, and had only gone downhill from there. Lance had felt every bit of the chasm as it inched wider all along with every bit of neglect and every altercation, but no one else had ever verbalized it and so, he’d kept it to himself.
Until he couldn't anymore.

Summary
So there’s no real choice when Keith spots one of the containers of quintessence left unguarded in the midst of another scuffle between the paladins and the sentries. Gathering the energy he has left, he throws himself toward the quintessence.
There’s no time to think about it. He cups his hand and brings a handful to his mouth, trying to swallow about as much as he thinks he’s been taking in the lab, conscious of the very real possibility that there must be an amount that could lead to an overdose.
The effect is immediate, even faster than he remembers, and the corresponding crash is something he can worry about later.

Oh my god. so good that it actually got me back into making rec lists ;_; september is technically not on the rec lists, but i recced it on a 200-person discord server that month so like.... surely that counts as MORE of a rec than my tumblr rec lists?
Sep 2024: this one's SO CLOSE to being finished and is close to my ideal balance of whump and relationship building. (but I will warn that I love things that go heavy on the whump so YMMV)
Oct 2024: Klance, but the ship’s not so much the focus imo. LONG. technically, I did NOT find this in October but I haven’t hyped it up nearly enough yet, so here it is anyway. also, I re-read it in October, so maybe that counts. follows keith and lance being rescued from galra captivity. the author describes it as a science fiction mindfuck and that is so accurate. plenty of angsty content, but not like… over the top. like it all has a plot purpose. this may have usurped my previous all-time favorite fic… unfinished but I have no reason to believe OP won’t come through with the rest, and it is close to complete. catch me in the comments as I work on my re-read.
Nov 2024: “skyler, you rec’d this last month–” STFU, i read it again this month and it still fuckin slaps. also new chapter dropped. incomplete, but only one chapter left and while sometimes the wait is long, it is so worth it because op drops beefy 20k+ chapters…. if i do not have the will to work on my own writing, op’s fics always put me back in the mood to write canon compliant fic. anyway, if i haven’t convinced you to read this by now, you’re beyond saving :(
