As soon as Myri locked eyes with Fives down the hall she knew he’d been on his way to find her as well.
Fives pulled her into a supply closet as soon as she reached him.
“Do you have the tattoo that I think you do?” Fives asked Myri after shutting the door behind them.
Myri blushed and regretfully nodded.
Rex and a majority of the other men in his squad were busy the night before so Myri and Fives decided to hang out together since they both had the night off. The two of them always managed to have a great time and they got along really well from the moment they met. One downside to their friendship, however, was that it seemed they lost use of all their common sense when they were together which often led to them making questionable decisions. In last night’s case, the pair decided to share a bottle of Correlian whiskey and then drunkenly get tattoos.
Myri pulled down the neck of her shirt to show Fives the pair of jaig eyes tattooed in 501st blue on the skin above her heart.
“Kriff,” Fives muttered. “We’ve really done it this time, haven’t we?”
Myri nodded again.
“Do you have the -“
“Tattoo of a bantha on my ass?” Fives interrupted her. “Unfortunately, yes.”
Myri couldn’t help but laugh as what Fives did to himself.
“Hey, don’t laugh at me!” Fives exclaimed. “At least I don’t have our captain’s personal symbol tattooed on my chest.”
Myri’s mouth opened in shock at the jab.
“It’s not that weird,” Myri tried to defend. “I am dating him.”
“Yeah, you’ve been dating him for two weeks, not exactly grounds to get a tattoo for him.”
“I know,” Myri groaned, hiding her face in her hands. “I don’t know what to do. I can’t let him see it.”
“I have no idea, but unless you keep your shirt on every time you have sex with him there’s no way you’ll be able to hide it,” Fives pointed out with a laugh.
“Ugh you’re no help at all, Fives,” Myri complained with a roll of her eyes. It was clear Fives would be of no use to her anymore so she slipped out of the supply closet to go about her day.
To say Myri was embarrassed about her tattoo was an understatement. She couldn’t even look at Rex without blushing and thinking about what he would possibly say if he saw what she’d done. So, she did the very mature thing and decided to avoid him at all costs.
She knew Rex noticed her avoidance of him but she never gave him a chance to speak with her. That is until he cornered her on the way to her room that evening.
“You’ve been avoiding me all day,” Rex said when slipped into her room before she could close the door on him.
Myri turned around to face him, trying to feign ignorance.
“What do you mean?” She asked.
“You know exactly what I mean, Mesh’la,” Rex replied pointedly, taking a step closer to her.
They stood in silence with their eyes locked on each other for a few moments before Myri finally relented.
“I know, I’m sorry,” Myri sighed.
“Did I do something wrong?” Rex asked hesitantly.
“What? No!” Myri immediately said. Not wanting for a second for Rex to think he’d done something wrong because that was the farthest thing from the truth. “I swear you didn’t do anything wrong. You’re perfect.”
Rex shook his head.
“I’m not perfect,” he chuckled.
Myri was about to argue the fact but the pointed look Rex sent her way caused her to shut up. The only words he would accept would be those that explained why she was avoiding him.
“I’ve been avoiding you because…” Myri paused, feeling uncomfortable at what she was going to share. “Because I’m embarrassed.”
Rex looked confused.
“Why are you embarrassed?”
Myri took a deep breath, trying to prepare herself.
“So, you know how Fives and I were hanging out while you were off with Anakin?”
Rex nodded to show he knew what she was talking about.
“Well we ended up getting drunk, and honestly no one should let the two of us get drunk together because it’s a recipe for disaster and we always end up doing stupi-“
“Myri,” Rex interrupted her tangent so she would get to the point.
“Fine. We were drunk and dumb and decided to get tattoos,” Myri said quickly before she chickened out.
Rex was quiet for a moment.
“Why would getting a tattoo make you too embarrassed to be around me today?”
“It’s because of the tattoo I got,” Myri replied. That still didn’t help Rex understand the situation so she pulled down the neck of her shirt just as she’d done for Fives in the supply closet earlier that day.
The sight of Rex’s iconic jaig eyes staring back at him from his girlfriend’s chest caused him to freeze.
“We’ve only been dating for two weeks so I know this is really weird. Then again, we have practically been dating for months now without even realizing it just without the sex and kissing, but that still doesn’t mean getting a tattoo like this is normal. Maker, Fives and I were so drunk and we thought it was a good idea at the time and now I’m mortified because this is your symbol so I have no right to use it like this and I’m so sorry, Rex,” Myri said quickly, filling Rex’s silence with her rambling.
Rex shook his head with an amused smile forming on his lips before pulling Myri into a kiss.
At first, Myri was shocked by the kiss but she quickly melted into it just as she’d done with every single kiss she’d shared with him since they started dating.
When they finally pulled apart, Myri looked up at Rex, a look of confusion gracing her face this time.
“You’re not mad?” She asked quietly.
“No! Why would I be mad?” Rex laughed. “I’m flattered that you think of me so highly when you’re drunk.”
He raised his hand to trace the tattoo with his finger, keeping his touch impossibly light so as to not irritate the freshly tattooed skin further.
“I really do, Rex,” Myri said with so much love. “You mean everything to me and I guess my drunk mind wanted to make sure I have a piece of you with me at all times.”
Rex smiled at that and pressed another passionate kiss to her lips. Whispering a quick ‘I love you’ when they broke apart for air before attaching their lips again.
Suddenly a thought came to Rex’s mind causing him to cut their kiss short, leaving a dazed Myri to trail her lips after his.
“You said you and Fives got tattoos,” he started.
“Yes….”
“What did he get?” Rex asked curiously. “I hope he didn’t copy you because you’re the only one I’m willing to share my symbol with.”
Myri would have melted at that comment if she weren’t trying to keep herself from laughing at Fives’ tattoo.
“Don’t worry, Fives didn’t get your jaig eyes tattooed on him.”
Rex started smiling when he saw how hard Myri was trying not to laugh.
“In his drunken state he thought getting a line drawing of a bantha tattooed on his ass was the best idea in the galaxy so if you notice he avoids sitting for the next few days, that’s why,” Myri said before finally allowing herself to laugh.
As soon as the words registered in Rex’s mind he joined her laughter.
“I can’t believe it,” Rex gasped, holding his stomach as he continued laughing.
“It doesn’t matter if you believe it, it’s true,” Myri wheezed, nearly doubled over in laughter.
This went on for a good few minutes before the two managed to calm down.
“This isn’t how I expected my day would go but I can’t say I’m upset about it,” Rex said as he leaned back against the wall.
Rex’s com crackled to life before Myri could say anything.
“Rex, I need you in the war room,” Anakin’s voice said through the com.
“I’ll be right there, Sir,” Rex replied before switching off his com.
“Looks like I have to go,” Rex said to Myri. “I really do love the tattoo, Cyare.”
He pulled Myri into one final kiss before making his way toward the door.
“It looks like now it’s time for me to return the favor,” he said with a smirk as he left the room, leaving Myri speechless. Rex was going to get a tattoo for her and she couldn’t wait to find out what it would be.
