Chapter Text
It was all just in the moment, really.
They hadn’t realized they could’ve fought back.
They hadn’t realized they had a choice in the matter.
They put their life in Dream’s hands, which was a poor choice on their part.
They should’ve seen this coming.
They never thought it would be Sam .
Sam. They thought he could trust him. After all they went through, the promise he made for them, just for him to turn his back on them at the first second of something going wrong.
They didn’t know why they were put in the prison, but as they were being dragged away he could hear Techno’s faint voice. It hurt them so much, he was probably going to cause issues for Techno. Having a syndicate member missing is an important thing, right? What they weren’t expecting was for Techno to break in and bust them out of prison, along with Dream and Connor.
Their death was panicked induced, for sure.
Or at least that's what they tell themselves.
In the moment they just hadn't realized they could fight for his son, he didn’t want to lose his son. After death they realized that he would probably die anyway, because people on this server don’t care. They didn’t think Techno would understand, but they hope Michael stays alive. Maybe he can learn how to defend himself, but he’s far too small for that now.
The axe that swung down and split into their shoulder, they didn’t think it would kill them. Apparently it went deeper than they expected.
They weren’t wearing armor...They could've prevented this. All the pain they caused their
family
good friends.
They died on impact.
And they only had one life, too.
.
.
.
At least, that’s what everybody thought, including Ranboo themselves.
Until they remembered.
And they woke up.

It was sunny, but there was a chill in the air. Typical November weather, yet for some reason it felt completely foreign. Instead of the blistering heat of the Nether region, and the red ceiling of the Nether, there was a calming blue sky. There was also no deep purple sky and gleaming stars of the End realm, which was slightly worrying to both members.
Both members?
With a jolt, the two mobs sat upright and looked around. Fluffy white hair swinging back and forth rapidly as long black hair remained still, checking their surroundings. Spruce trees, uneven ground, cobblestone and dirt wall. And...oh. Oh no… They’re at spawn? But didn’t they die? What was happening? The taller member, dark as night, spun around for any sign of life. They jumped up to their feet when directly behind them facing the other direction, there was a boy. He had medium length white hair, and was probably panicking. He was light as day, an opposite of the former.
The taller one knelt down next to the other, and put their hand on his shoulder.
“Hey, calm down.” Their voice sounded weird, but they've talked so much before. Why would it feel weird now?
The other stopped, and turned around to look up at the taller.
They made eye contact, and suddenly it clicked.
“Rahn?” The smaller, ‘Boo’ asked. He looked confused and scared, but ‘Rahn’ helped him onto his feet. He stared at their forehead, taking care not to look directly in their eyes.
“How long has it been?” He asked, voice wavering, “since this has happened.”
‘This’ refers to Rahn and Boo. Normally they were one entity, Ranboo . But for some reason, they had split into two mobs again. The enderman and the wolf, raised entirely different, coming together as one to live life undetected.
Rahn stared at Boo, “probably around 4 or 5 years? I don’t remember.” Of course he didn’t… Neither of them did. Being one entity messed with their brains.
“You’d think having 2 brains in 1 would make us above average, but it completely fails us.” Boo sighed.
They looked around, “Hey, Rahn? We should probably get out of spawn.” Boo looked nervously around, others would realize they still had 2 lives. Although, he didn’t think their situation would be considered ‘three lives,’ maybe more like one life. Maybe they would come looking for them? Techno or Phil would realize that they didn’t spawn at
home
their house back at the arctic so maybe they-
“Hey- hey.” Rahn put his hand on Boo’s shoulder, “It’ll be ok, but we won’t get anywhere with all your panicking.” Boo could tell that the other was internally panicking, but said nothing and nodded. He grabbed Rahn’s cold hand, and they ran off into the woods. Hopefully away from L’manhole or...the prison… Oh great, how were they going to explain this to the others if they found out?
Checking their shared communicator, Boo realized it still showed them online. As Ranboo. Technically they were Ranboo, but now it was Rahn-Boo . The forest was dense, they didn’t know where to go. They were both just running. They were afraid, afraid of what the server members would do if they knew they weren’t who they said they were. What would the syndicate say about this? What would Techno say about this…? They haven’t separated in years, keeping up this front. Their actions were genuine, but would anybody still like them if they knew it was 2 people?
Gods, would Tubbo want to stay married?
Best not to think about it for now.
“Maybe we should head home to get some things? We probably have to lay low for a while…considering this whole…thing.” Rahn cut the silence between the two, “I’m sure Enderchest misses us.” They both slowed their pace from running to walking, Boo sighs and nods. They start heading towards the community portal, being careful as to not get seen by anybody else. It was weird, being out of their body for once, Their original body temperature was messing with Boo, being way warmer than Rahn. The nether was even more hellish, and I thought fur was supposed to regulate a dog’s body temperature? Rahn was doing just fine, being cold as ice. I wonder how they’d hold up in the tundra… Thought Boo as he smirked evilly. The portal was in sight now, hopefully they made it back before Techno or anybody else did.
The tundra was cold, but they ran anyway, they had to, or else Rahn would start burning themselves. Boo had gotten so used to the sensation of water or snow burning them that they thought it was going to burn them also. The wolves barked and howled at them, not recognizing the duo. Boo wanted to bark back at them, but that would be pointless, there’s no way he would be heard over the loud roar of the hounds.
Entering their house, they immediately head to the basement to look for extra armor or weapons in their vault. They both stayed relatively silent throughout the process, occasionally asking questions about what to bring and what to leave. Rahn made sure to leave a note asking for somebody to feed Enderchest and take care of their pets, should anybody come looking through their house. Yeah, important armor and other valuables suddenly going missing after they died was not suspicious at all, yes.

It was silent, only the sounds of wind and the forest could be heard through their internal conversation.
“What should our name be?” One asked, dark as night.
“Ranboo.”
“Seriously? That’s so obvious, Boo.”
“Do you have any better ideas that we’ll remember? Besides, it’s not like people will look for us soon.”
“That’s a depressing thought.”
“I’m an optimist, thank you very much.” The other, light as day sighed.
“Fine then, Ranboo it is.”
This was going to be a long few years…
