Zoey’s favorite parts about the Christmases past were the memories of their Christmas Dinner and their Christmas Eve black-and-white movie marathon. Her entire family squashed on the sofa, with a blanket and popcorn.
The dinner didn’t go at all how she wanted nor planned it to. That evening she discovered that, due to her talent at programming, her cooking talent was essentially non-existent. Regardless of that, Zoey managed to pull together a pretty good Christmas Dinner.
Then Jack smashed the snow globe; and Zoey’s sorta-okay Christmas smashed to pieces like the glass dome of the globe.
All it took was a conversation during a dream with her dad to make her pause and realize that, no, she wouldn’t be dishonoring him by doing something different for Christmas this year.
That they didn’t have to do things like the black-and-white movie marathon or have the perfect Christmas Dinner because, Mitch told her, no such a thing had ever existed.
