Remus wasn't trying to eavesdrop, he really wasn't.

It wasn't his fault that he had to go to the stupid ball. He wasn't even there to sample the silly tiny food, which he loved scaring the posh people with by stuffing an ungodly amount into his face.. and pockets...

It wasn't like he would ever normally be invited to the annual Sander's Charity gala anyway. He didn't need to pay that much attention. The only reason he was here, perched on the top of the skyline roof during the mid of winter, was because Sander's was auctioning off the famous family diamond for the charity event.

Idiot, Remus had smirked, when began scaling the side of the building. That hunk of rock was worth more than Remus' manor twice over. It was known that the young, and incredibly naive head of the house, Thomas Sanders, was far too trusting for his own good. The diamond would more than likely be left in the safe, kept under the desk in one of the houses' studies.

It wasn't that Remus needed the money. In truth, he never intended for a life of crime. It sought of sprung itself onto him, promising adventure and wits, an escape from the pooling fear of boredom.

Imagine a reverse batman.

So that's how Remus found himself perched up next to a skylight window, rolling a marble between his fingers.

Bored, and terribly in the need of something to do. But it wasn't the right moment to strike yet, he needed for the party-goers to be appropriately slooshed, and the excitement of the diamond needed to be hyped up the ultimate amount before he could drop down and swipe the diamond away.

Which was exactly the moment the door slowly creaked open. A man sauntered in, wearing... honestly little to nothing, a golden dress hanging from their figure, elegantly swishing across the floor. His long golden hair was twisted effortlessly up. They were followed by a man wearing an equally as elegant, however much more plain blue suit. Sharp glasses were perched on their nose.

Well... it was always difficult to ignore a lover's quarrel during this type of event, Remus giggled to himself. Rubbing the marble quicker between his palms

"You were wonderful out there, darling-" The shorter man in the dress purred, throwing their arms around the other's neck. A shy blush warmed their cheeks.

Or not, Remus cringed, apparently, there was no lovers quarrel, there were just... lovers.

Oh well, Remus shrugged, free entertainment was entertainment, after all, he just didn't know that he was flicking through the adult channels.

"Sweetheart," the other warned, placing their large hands on the other's waist and dropping a quick kiss onto their forehead. "we're still working."

The taller one swiftly broke from the embrace and moved to the desk in the study. "You're sure it's in here?"

"No Logan," the other drawled, clearly put out, "I've arranged this entire thing, risked both of our reputations and this dress, just on a hunch."

The tall one, Logan apparently, smirked, rolling his eyes, before stretching towards the desk.

Where the diamond was- where Remus' diamond was.

"No!" Remus grunted, dropping the marble, sending it scattering across the glass window. The short one snapped their head up, eyes glistening with mild annoyance.

"Sweetheart," they stated, almost nonchalantly. They walked to the wall and pulled on a once unseen chain from the ceiling. Remus slipped against the glass, flinging his arms against the window, sending him flying...straight through the now open window. With very little grace, Remus crashed to the floor. "We appear to have company."
