Work Text:
Will sets down his fork, having just finished another of Hannibal’s elaborate dinners. Will wasn’t surprised by the invitation, but he was surprised that Hannibal invited him over on Halloween. But regardless of holiday, he never wants to miss an opportunity to spend time with the older man. His attraction to Hannibal has been growing steadily and at times he feels like an addict seeking a fix. He has no idea how Hannibal feels about him, but at times he thinks Hannibal feels something to him too. He hopes.
As is their routine, Will follows Hannibal to the kitchen when he clears their plates. He knows better now than to ask if he can help. And of he’s honest with himself he enjoys watching Hannibal’s ass as he washes the dishes. God bless Hannibal’s tailor.
Will leans on the door frame and enjoys the view, wishing he and Hannibal could bridge whatever has been brewing between them lately. Normally he’s fairly confidant at reading people but for whatever reason Hannibal is his blind spot. Maybe that’s why he’s so interesting, Will is never 100% sure what is going on in his mind.
At that moment the heater kicks on and above him something sways in the door frame, catching his attention. Will looks up and sees a fun-size twizzler tied to a string. He frowns in confusion. Hannibal didn’t decorate for Halloween anywhere else in his house (unless you count the animal skulls and antler table decorations, which to be fair seem to be present year round).
“What’s this?” Will asks, flicking his eyes upward when Hannibal turns around.
Hannibal’s eyes narrow in amusement and for a second Will’s guard goes up, something making him feel like he’s being hunted. He shakes away the feeling.
Hannibal wipes his hands on a dish towel, giving Will an drool-inducing view of his muscular forearms, and then makes his way over to Will, not stopping until he’s in Will’s personal space. Wills heart rate speeds up at the proximity.
“That…” Hannibal says, smirking at his own private joke, “…is for Halloween. Trick or treat?”
The common words somehow sound elegant and dangerous in Hannibal’s velvety accented voice. Will stares at Hannibal for a beat, mind whirring, trying to figure out what the older man is up to. Will loves the games they play with each other, their verbal sparring. But this…this feels like something different. And if he’s honest with himself right now Will doesn’t want a trick from Hannibal. He swallows and says, “Treat.”
Will half expects Hannibal to pluck the candy down and give it to him, but in retrospect he should have known it wouldn’t be that simple. Instead Will sees Hannibal’s grin widen before his large hands cradle Will’s face and pull him into a kiss.
Will gasps in surprise and Hannibal takes advantage, slipping his hot tongue into his mouth. After a beat of surprise Will finds his composure and return the kiss fervently, gripping Hannibal’s waist as their lips and tongues side intimately against one another’s.
Will isn’t sure how long they have been kissing when they finally break for air, both panting into the shared space between them. Demurely he looks up at Hannibal from below his lashes and Hannibal whispers, “Happy Halloween Will.”
Will can’t help but laugh, he has no idea what’s going on. What was this - Halloween mistletoe? Regardless he’s the happiest he can remember being so he smiles and replies, Happy Halloween Hannibal.”
Hannibal smiles at him in return, caressing Will’s cheek as he brushes his lips across Will’s once more before plucking the candy down and putting it in his pocket.
As he starts to walk away Will grabs his arm and asks, curious, “What would you have done if I had said trick?”
Hannibal smiles, retrieving the twizzler from his pocket, and says matter of factly, “I would have pulled off a twizzler, tied it in a knot with my tongue, and then fed it to you as I kissed you.”
Will stares dumbstruck which apparently Hannibal is amused by. Hannibal turns again to return to the dishes but Will catches him by the hand, the twizzler trapped between their palms.
“Is it to late to choose trick?” Will asks, voice huskier than he intended.
Hannibal grins as he says, “Tricks are best when the other person is unaware of what will happen.” Will frowns in disappointment but then watches as Hannibal twines their fingers together. “But…”
Will looks up, now hopeful. Their eyes lock and they lean in, lips millimeters apart, so close Will can feel Hannibal’s breath on his lips as he speaks. Once again Will feels like prey being hunted but he feels no fear, only anticipation. “…luckily for you I know many tricks…”
“Show me,” Will whispers.
And with that Hannibal closes the distance, fiercely kissing Will as he pulls him out of the kitchen and towards the stairs, twizzler left forgotten on the floor.
The end.
