Summary:

Aziraphale lets Crowley stay up at night. It doesn't turn out well.

Chapter 1: A Little Late Night

Chapter Text

During a peaceful night, Aziraphale was reading his book in their bedroom. He felt a little lonely there since Crowley was still downstairs. The angel would prefer the demon to go to sleep but he knew that he was about to have an important meeting with Hell. It wasn't the best way of spending his time but it was inevitable.

The angel asked Crowley to finish his work at midnight so when the ginger hadn't showed up at 1 am, Aziraphale got up and went downstairs. Immediately, when he was half way, he heard quiet sobs coming from the desk that was lighted with a simple lamp. However, he couldn't see the demon anywhere near. Crowley's jacket was hanging on the back of the chair which wasn't very unusual. Aziraphale made a few steps forward and spotted a ginger head somewhere between the bookshelves. The demon was sitting with his knees close to his chest.

"Crowley, dear?" Aziraphale approached him slowly in order not to scare him and knelt in front of him, placing his hand on the demon's knee.

"Zira?" the ginger looked up a little and the angel spotted the lack of his sunglasses. His eyes were wet from the tears.

"Yes, yes, it's me, my love," the angel wrapped him with his arms and kisses his head. "Would you like to go upstairs and go to bed, Crowley?"

The demon sniffed and bit his lip, wanting to say something.

"What is it, darling?" Aziraphale asked a little concerned.

"Tony," Crowley whispered, clinging to he angel as if he was afraid of him going away.

For a little while the blonde was confused. 'Tony'? He had never heard Crowley wanting to be called that. The name was just there and nobody really used it. Of course, if the demon asked him to referred to him with that name, he would do it.

"Alright, Tony, dear," he smiled softly. "So are we going to bed?"

The ginger looked down and mumbled. "Can I have hot cocoa? With a stwaw?"

Aziraphale gaped but quickly shook his head and brushed Cro- Tony's hair. "Of course, you can, my boy." After saying this he helped the demon sit down on the sofa and went to the kitchen to prepare the drink. It took him a while until it hit him. His husband wasn't acting as always. He was more innocent and soft and... childish? The way he behaved and talked were just very unusual. But well, if that was what he needed, Aziraphale would do anything to help and comfort him.

After preparing the cocoa and taking a straw with him, he went back to the sofa. He saw Crowley, no, wait, Tony, fiddling with his necklace. However, when the demon noticed the angel's presence, he made grabby hands towards him and smiled at the mug.

"Yes, yes, my dear, it's for you," Aziraphale chuckled, being a little amused by the ginger's behaviour. He found it very adorable.

"Cocoa, plwease," Tony said and licked his lips, bouncing impatiently on the sofa.

Since he assumed that his husband really wanted to be treated in a certain way, Aziraphale wanted him to feel the best. "What a smart boy I have here," he smiled and moved the mug closer to the demon, putting the straw in and belaying it before Tony managed to catch it, starting drinking.

The more cocoa he drank, the more sleepy he got. His eyes were closing more often but he still tried to stay awake.

"Okay, buddy, I think it's time to sleep," Aziraphale claimed after placing an empty mug on the coffee table.

Tony shook his head. "Nuh uh, we play. M not tired, Ziwa," he pouted and yawned right after that.

The angel chuckled. "Are you sure you are not sleepy?"

"Maybe a tiny little bit," he said and showed the 'tiny little bit' with his fingers.

Aziraphale kissed his head. "We will be able to play the next day, okay?" he tried to convince him. Unfortunately, it was always Crowley who was able to act around kids better than him. "And now we can have cuddles." The angel was trying his best to remember what the demon had used to say to all the children they'd met on their way.

"I cuddle with you?" The boy tilted his head.

"Of course, Tony, you'll cuddle with me."

He grinned. "Okie! Up, up!" he exclaimed and clung to Aziraphale, wanting to be held and probably taken to the bedroom.

The angel obeyed and held Tony close to himself, not wanting the boy to hit something or accidentally fall down. Inside, Aziraphale was panicking a little. The last thing he wanted was to hurt his husband who was apparently more vulnerable right now.

When they entered the bedroom, the blonde sat Tony down on the bed and considered using a miracle to put him in his pyjamas.

"Look, look!" the boy said and snapped his fingers but not much happened apart from his shoes disappearing. Tony looked at the angel and his lip trembled. Aziraphale could sense that he was about to cry so he pulled him on his lap and rubbed his back.

"No, no, buddy, no crying, okay?"

"But I can't miwacle, Ziwa," he sniffed and nuzzled in the blonde's chest.

The angel thought about what to say next. "Oh, that's because you're too little, buddy." He kisses his head. "Once you're big, you'll be able to make miracles, I promise you that." Fortunately, it worked and the boy nodded. "For now, can I do a miracle and change you in your pyjamas?"

"Can I have little snakes on it, plwease?" Aziraphale smiled brightly at the question and nodded, miracling a black and orange pyjama pants and shirts that replaced the turtleneck and his tight trousers. Tony looked at his new clothes and giggled happily.

"Lots of snakies, Ziwa!" he said, pointing at the animals.

While the boy was busy with admiring the pattern, he changed himself in his tartan pyjamas.

"Are we ready to sleep now, buddy?" Aziraphale asked, kissing the boy's cheek,

Tony nodded which gave the angel a permission to lie down and cuddling the ginger close to himself. The boy rubbed his eyes with his fists and lied his head on the angel's chest. Even though, he was still taller than Aziraphale, he managed to curl up on his chest so that he fit perfectly on it. Quickly, the blond's hand found itself in the demon's hair and brushed them gently. He was sure that he would like to talk about this with Crowley tomorrow when he came back to himself. For now, he just wanted his boy to be safe.

"Goodnight, my little boy," he whispered and kissed the ginger's head.

"Nu night, dada."
