Take a Picture, It Lasts Longer

Summary:

The One – a funny concept. But who is Soobin to judge? He has a pet Hedgehog AND a photography addiction.

Notes:

OH MY GOD YEONBIN-
It has been an unreal amount of time since I have written them and I missed them so so so much.
This is a scene from my ongoing work (idk when I will be getting to finishing it) and so I just thought why not drop it in? I haven't been able to get down to writing complete stories recently, just scenes because I really wanted to get a grip on how I weave characters.
I hope you don't mind me posting small things like these, sort of glimpses into the characters' lives. I enjoy doing these studies a lot so I basically ended up making a separate section for all my blurbs - basically.

tl;dr - I made a blurb section which I will be updating quite frequently since I am not having any huge ideas currently.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

“I cannot believe you have a pet hedgehog- this is ridiculous!!”

“Okay but I do though!! You need to believe me!!”

“I am not believing a word that is coming out of your mouth mister- not until I see it myself.”

“Then come over-?”

A flash takes over Yeonjun’s being as soon as the boy in front of him finishes his sentence – Soobin’s polaroid camera. He gleams wide, right before covering his eyes with the palm of his hand, but it is of no use. The mechanical drizzle signifies that the picture is already processing.

And Soobin beams a loud grin at that. His teeth and dimples are in full display – puffy eyes half-closed as he lets a chuckle die down in his throat. Giddy.

Parties suck – usually. But this one was planned and Soobin’s attendance was necessary. After all, Taehyun has found ‘The One’ for him. Or so he proclaimed – the taller doesn’t know. But as he continues to spend minutes – nay, hours with this guy in front of him, he might just start believing that.

Oh my god – Yeonjun said, his hands now fully covering his face as his body lurches against the corner of the cramped couch. Nasally chuckles bubble out of his chest in bits and pieces. Too out of breath to take in the surroundings.

A little buzzed, he has probably had a full glass of beer by now.

Or maybe two.

Soobin follows him along, scooting right next to him as he sees him hug his knees in embarrassment. He seems shy. It’s cute – the taller reckons.

“Taehyun really meant it when he said you’re off your mind-?”

Yeonjun laughs out, a cough trails as he straightens up. Sitting straight as he looks at the other who continues to gleam at him like a clown. Every-single-bit – Soobin enunciates as he clicks yet another picture of the raven-haired boy with big pouty lips and a foxy gaze.

Typically, Soobin would have assumed him to be way out of his league, too fashionable. Too popular. Too… unreal?

Yet here he was, rolling around on this stinky couch, talking about the classes that they both happen to despise. An honor student. Stupidly handsome yet goofy at the same time – how is that fucking possible?

Yeonjun feels like a dream and Soobin wants to remember him when he inevitably wakes up.

So, he clicks another picture. And another. And another until Yeonjun is full-on posing for him. Sticking his tongue out for him once, his fingers propped up in a V. He winks – badly – blinking instead.

Soobin finds himself laughing more than he ever has. The boy feels like a breath of fresh air to him. Different – like himself. Everyone thinks they are unique – like they are somehow ‘the shit’, you know? Yet, it is allowed and Soobin lets himself flow with the tide.

The ocean that is this sprightly guy named Choi Yeonjun.

And the boy stares back at him with a certain glimmer in his own orbs. A glimmer of intrigue – curiosity.

Who is Soobin? What is his story?

“Take a picture- it lasts longer.” – Soobin bites his tongue before breaking into another loud grin and Yeonjun hurls a pillow on his face. Brat – he says. No bite in his tone. None. His hands grapple at the boy’s camera, getting a hold of his in an instant. Soobin isn’t really resisting you know?

Taking his lower lip between his teeth, Yeonjun giggles like the likes of a blushing schoolgirl. Never in his lifetime did he expect himself to be slipping this way. Slipping hard. His hand combs through his hair as he snaps a shot of Soobin.

His glimmer, glassy eyes. A little hazy from the alcohol – Soobin turns out to be a fucking lightweight it seems. His button nose too, Yeonjun can see himself pressing it like a big red push button. He can also see himself pressing a lingering peck on it. Dimples as deep as the sea, Yeonjun’s thinking is turning muddy.

His lips, pillowy and soft.

Is it too early to press a smack on them?

The polaroid drizzles out of the machine, Soobin flicks it near his neck as he waits for it develop. His eyes crinkled in glory as he notices the breathless expression Yeonjun wears upon his face. He bites his tongue in amusement.

Picking out one of the few pictures and tossing it over at him. Yeonjun catches it with much disdain – alcohol-induced clumsiness is getting the best of him.

Keep it – Soobin grins.

Keep me – Yeonjun feels.
