Allison lay mortally wounded in Scott's arms. They were frozen in place, as was everyone around them.
Stiles looked around wildly. What was going on now?
The entity inside Stiles spoke. "He can save her but there is a cost."
"What is it?" Stiles asked cautiously. Void was a trickster demon and had nothing to lose by lying.
"He has to use his Alpha Spark," Void said.
"Huh. Like Derek did for Cora," Stile nodded, thinking fast. There was one obvious problem Stiles could see. "Will Scott believe me?"
"That I cannot predict," Void admitted. Finally. Something resembling the truth.
Stiles wanted to yell in frustration. This was not fair!
"The choice has to be his, you can only advise," Void said.
"There are no other options?" Stiles asked desperately.
"It is not her time but his sacrifice is the only way to save her," Void said dispassionately.
Then time flowed again. The Oni's sword that had run Allison through evaporated as they watched.
"Scott! You can save her!" Stiles shouted.
Scott looked up and frowned.
"Use your Spark," Stiles said firmly. "It's the only way."
"I don't know how!" Scott protested.
"Just focus your wolf on her," came a deeper voice behind Stiles. "Instead of taking pain, give health."
Stiles turned to see Chris Argent behind him. He turned back to watch Scott and Allison.
"You're out of time," Argent said urgently. "Do it now or her death is on you."
Something in that made Scott jerk in place. He closed his eyes and held Allison closer to his chest. Stiles couldn't hear anything but he could see Scott's lips moving.
Stiles saw Kira and her mother standing away from the action. Noshiko tried to keep Kira back but Kira muscled her way out from under her mother's embrace. Kira took a step closer toward Scott and Allison.
Stiles could hear Argent fiercely whispering to himself. "Come on, you can do it Allie. Fight! Come back to me. Come on, Allie."
"You have done well, young Spark," Void said, the voice growing softer. "Believe in yourself and you will do well." The last was just above a whisper. A thread of sound. "Believe." And then it was gone.
Scott and Allison were still wrapped around each other. Chris Argent kept talking, like what he was saying was a prayer.
There was a flash of red. It flowed over Scott and Allison and settled on Allison for a moment. Then Allison took a deep breath.
"I'd get her to the hospital," Stiles said to Argent. "Isaac needs help, if nothing else."
He knew Scott wouldn't think of anyone else, too busy being glad Allison was alive. He watched Argent pull out his phone and call 911.
Kira rushed over to Scott and Allison and wrapped her arms around both of them.
Noshiko took a step back. She looked Stiles in the eyes and blinked. She bowed her head in acknowledgement of... something. She turned and walked away.
The influx of police and rescue personnel let Stiles back away from the scene without comment.
As he was turning away, a flash of red caught his eye. A small red spark danced against the dark. When it knew it had his attention, it flew off into the distance. As if seeking a new home.
