“One more round” Vic slammed her hands on the table as she stood
“I’ve got a baby to feed” Andy shouted back in laughter
“You don’t” Vic spoke again pointing at Maya “the breastfeeding thing is Carinas job”
“No Carina’s job is a highly decorated OBGYN although I would love to see her reaction to you calling her a baby making machine” Maya replied finishing her beer
“Ooh me too” Andy added
“Come on guys, one more drink” Vic pleaded
“Vic we have babies to go home to” Maya added laughing at the begging going on
“Babies who are already in bed, come on, one last shot before you go please” Vic reasoned with a mischievous grin on her face
“Fine, one more shot and then I’m gone” Andy agreed as Maya nodded along
“I’ll say” Maya added earning a light slap off her friend as Vic disappeared to the bar
“I’m leaving after this Andy I mean it” Maya stated
“Oh I’m with you on that one don’t you worry” Andy laughed back as Vic returned singing
“TEQUILA!” The firefighter shouted as she set the three shots out
“Victoria” Maya scolded her “…if I knew you were going for tequila I’d have left”
“Come on Bishop, what happened to the fun-loving, self care Wednesday Maya we all knew and loved” Vic pouted
“She grew up” Maya smiled back “…and it’s self care everyday, and has been for the last 5 years” Maya spoke with a grin
“Okay we get it, you get hot sexy Italian sex with your hot sexy Italian wife, all day everyday” Vic groaned passing round the salt and lime “…come on Latina Princess count us in”
“One, I’m Puerto Rican, tequila is Mexican and 2. Never call me princess again” Andy giggled
“Fine Maya can count us in Italian” Vic smiled
“No she can’t” Maya laughed back
“Asi, asi…” Andy started “…ready” the lieutenant asked receiving a golden retriever nod off Vic and an eye roll off Maya
“Arriba” all three women raised that glass “abajo” the glasses came back down again “al centro” the three women giggled as Andy nodded a ‘ready’ at the two
“Y pa’dentro” the three shot back the tequila each making their own face of disgust
“Okay, home time!” Maya shouted as soon as her glass hit the the table “…Hughes are you coming or staying?”
“I’m gonna… come.. No stay ahhh!”
“Okay I think it’s home time for you too, come on you can crash at mine” Andy laughed seeing the conflict on the other woman’s face
“A true angel sent from above. Bless you Andrea” Vic smiled hanging off Andy’s neck
“Ubers booked, let’s go” Maya spoke as she stood feeling the full effect of the alcohol taking hold
Maya waved the Uber off as she stumbled up the driveway fumbling with her keys in the door. When she finally opened the door she noticed the entire house in silence, the only light being the desk lamp on the sideboard. Maya discarded her keys, her coat and her shoes and made her way up the stairs. She quietly opened the door to Andrea’s room creeping in to place a kiss on his forehead careful not to wake him before doing the same to Eleora.
The blonde found herself having to steady herself before she made her way to her own bedroom, slowly pushing the door open Maya saw her wife lay on her side hugging Mayas pillows. She stood there for a while just watching Carina sleep before she slowly began to make her way closer to her wife
“You’re so sexy” Maya crawled up the bed less elegantly than she’d like to
“Maya?” Carina asked her accent thick as she was shaken from her sleep
“Who else would be calling you sexy in our bed, or have you got another wife I don’t know about” Maya spoke playfully as she lent over her wife’s face
“Maya” Carina tried to scold her wife but couldn’t contain the smile on her face
“You’re very pretty” Maya spoke with a serious look on her face
“Am I?” Carina contorted her face in denial
“You’re insanely pretty, and sexy, and hot, and beautiful, and-“ Maya spoke between kisses she insisted on placing on Carinas face
“And you’re drunk” Carina laughed back as she placed her own kiss on Mayas lips
“Me? Drunk? Noo-oo” Maya smiled back
“Maya come sleep” Carina pat the space in the bed next to her encouraging Maya to lay down
“I don’t want to sleep” Maya grinned back kissing Carina again
“What do you want to do?” Carina smiled back running her hands up and down Mayas arms
“I want to make love to my hot sexy Italian God, all night long” Maya laughed out
“Well your hot sexy Italian God is 8 months pregnant and not feeling very hot or sexy” Carina replied trying to push Maya to lay down next to her
“Have I ever told you how much I love you?” Maya asked
“Not in the last 24hrs no” Carina replied
“Oh, well maybe I should do something about that” Maya grinned knowingly as she disappeared out of her wife’s sight and slid back down the bed
“Maya, what are you-“ Carina laughed as Maya threw herself under the covers before placing kisses up the inside of Carinas thighs
“Ma-ya” Carina breathed out
“Shall I stop?” The blondes face reappeared just above Carinas bump before using her fingers to draw circles over the places she’d just kissed
“N-oh don’t stop” Carina breathed out heavily as Maya got back to work
The next morning Carina found herself watching Maya as she slept it was a rarity that Carina would wake before Maya but between the pregnancy and the amount of alcohol she predicts her wife drank the previous night she’s not surprised
“Buongiorno bella” Carina leaned over to kiss her wife awake
“Too loud” Maya mumbled
“I only whispered” Carina laughed back
“Too shhh loud” Maya lifted her hand to place it over Carinas mouth as she felt her wife smile against her palm
The two of them fell into a comfortable silence, Maya somehow managing to twist her body comfortably around Carina as the brunette ran her fingers through her wife’s hair coaxing her back to sleep whilst she glanced through the latest figures of the research she was supporting.
The serene scene was soon interrupted when Carina noticed the door handle begin to jiggle. She looked down at Maya and saw she was still asleep a protective arm strewn over her ever growing belly, before she looked back up to see two faces looking back at her
“Mommy, you’re home” Andrea shouted as he catapulted himself onto the bed shortly followed by his sister
“Oh man, shhh too loud” Mayas eyes flew open at the intrusion as Carina giggled at the comment she’d heard twice this morning already
“What’s too loud?” Eleora asked confused
“You are” Maya smiled “..mommy has a headache, so I need you to be nice and quiet” the blondes face contorted back into a frown as she settled into Carinas arms again
“What’s wrong mommy” Andrea asked patting Mayas more forcefully than he realised
“My head hurts and I’m tired that’s all” Maya added
“Have you got a baby growing too?” Eleora spoke excitedly placing a hand in Mayas stomach as both women laughed
“No, no definitely not” Maya laughed opening her eyes fully and sitting up
“Then why does your head hurt?” Andrea asked
“I err I had a long night with Tia Andy and Auntie Vic” Maya laughed
“At work?” Eleora spoke as she moved to the other side of Carina and placed a kiss on her belly, an action that warmed both womens hearts
“Buongiorno bambina”Eleora whispered
“No, not quite” Maya sighed wincing as she felt an intense throbbing in her head
“Mommy?” Andrea crawled into Mayas lap and cuddled against her chest
“Yes, Andrea”
“Do you have a hand under?” the boy asked confused as to why Maya was laughing so much at his words
“It’s hangover bubs, and yes, I do” the blonde admitted
The whole morning Maya spent in bed feeling sorry for herself, it was early evening by the time she managed to feel half human again but even then she only lived herself from wallowing in her bed to wallowing on the sofa in the living room instead
“Mommy?” Eleora stood infront of Maya where she lay on the couch half asleep
“Yeah” Maya replied
“Are you feeling better?” Eleora stroked Mayas nose making the blonde smile
“Yes, I am”
“Can we watch beauty and the beast? Per favore” Eleora smiled wanting to cuddle up with her mom and make her feel better
“Sure come here” Maya picked up Eleora and settled her on her chest cuddling and holding her tight
“Where’s Mama Els?” Maya asked
“She’s with Drea in the yard, they’re reading. I don’t want to read” Eleora informed her mom
“I missed you last night mommy” Eleora admitted as she made her self comfortable in Mayas embrace as the film started
“You did?”
“Yeah there was a monster under my bed and you weren’t here to scare it away” Eleora sighed loudly making the older blonde smile at the dramatics
“What about mama?” Maya asked
“Mama scared it for now but what if it comes back” Eleora whispered
“Well if it comes back, which I don’t think it will because your Mama can be pretty scary when she wants to be, I’ll be there. I promise” Maya added
“I love you mommy” Eleora spoke lifting up Mayas arm to cuddle her
“I love you too princess”
“I never want to never see you again” Eleora whispered as her eyes stayed fixed on the TV
“Hmm, what do you mean” Maya was confused by the statement thinking it may have just had something to do with her miissing bedtime last night
“Belle thinks she’ll never see her papa again, and I don’t want to feel like that” Eleora justified her statement looking up at her mom and giving her a kiss
“I don’t want you to feel like that either, I’ll always come home to you, and Andrea and Mama” Maya replied as she stroked her daughters hair
“And the nuovo bambina” Eleora added
“Yeah, and the new baby” Maya smiled
“But…” the 4 year old sighed as something else dawned on her
“But what princess?” Maya urged
“Uncle Dean didn’t… he didn’t come home”
“You’re right he didn’t…” Maya sighed “…but he did everything he could do every single day to make sure he did. And when he didn’t, he didn’t because he was so good at his job and he was so caring and loving he was trying to save other people, he saved so many people that day, so so many”
“You’re always going to come home right mommy?” Eleora looked up again, identical blue eyes staring into one an other
“I’m always going to try my hardest okay” Maya affirmed
“I don’t want you to go mommy” Eleora tightened her grip on Maya and hugged her
“I’m not going anywhere, I’m right here” Maya assured her daughter as she placed a soft kiss on her forehead
Maya managed to calm her daughter down and return her focus to the film, it had been 15 minutes when she realised her daughter was crying again but this time her tears were silent
“Hey, what’s wrong? I told you I’m not going anywhere” Maya sat the two of the up so she could see her daughter properly
“No mommy, I’m not sad because of that, I’m sad because no one likes the Beast but he just needs love” Eleora replied cuddling back into Mayas chest
“He does bambina, he really does” Maya held her daughter and rocked her slightly to calm her
“Is that like Nonno? Sometimes when he gets angry and it makes Mama sad but he just needs love” Eleora lifted her head off Mayas chest to look at her
“I- yeah just like that” Maya smiled at the size of her daughters heart
“Everyone would be happy if they had someone to love” Eleora sighed as she turned her attention back to the film
“And who do you love?” Maya asked
“You mommy…” Eleora turned to look at her mom with a wide grin “…and mama and Drea”
“What about me and Mama?” Andrea asked as he joined his mom and sister on the sofa
“Ti voglio bene” Eleora leant forward and kissed her brother on the cheek as she received a smile off him
“Where’s Mama?” Eleora asked
“I’m here bambina” Carina replied as she made her way to the sofa and sat next to Maya “…Ah la Bella e la Bestia, I love this one”
“I love you Mama” Eleora pushed herself to her knees and clung onto Carinas neck
“Ti amo anchio piccolina” Carina smiled as she brought her arm around her daughters waist to hug her before she settled herself back in Mayas lap and turned her attention to the film again
“How are you feeling bella?” Carina whispered in Mayas ear
“A lot better, still regretting agreeing to that final tequila though” Maya laughed resting her head on Carinas shoulder
“Mommy shh I’m trying to focus on the movie” Andrea spoke shushing his parents
“Sorry bubs I’ll shh” Maya pretended to zip her mouth before settling back against Carinas shoulder
“Ti amo Maya” Carina whispered in the blondes ear and placed a kiss in her hair
“I love you too” Maya smiled tilting her head to kiss the crook of Carinas neck “…now stop watching me and focus on the movie”
“First, drink this and take this” Carina handed her wife some water and paracetamol
“You’re the best” Maya smiled happily accepting the medication “…being hungover was so much easier without children” Maya whispered holding back a giggle
“Si, but this is so much more fun” Carina whispered back
Maya continued to nurse her hangover for the rest of the evening as she settled down with her family to watch back to back Disney films which soon turned into the best hangover cure ever.
