Notes:

TW FOR LATER CHAPTERS:
-transphobia/homophobia
-breakdowns
-generally deep topics

Basically Camilo needs a hug. So does Bruno. Actually, so does the entire family. Uh, yeah idk. Might be ooc cause I'm running on 6 hours of sleep and I'm tired.

The title for this chapter is supposed to be about how Camilo's a trouble maker, constantly getting himself in trouble (let's climb the cliff edge) and then having concequences but re-getting in trouble (and jump again). Idk, I thought it sounded cool lol

Chapter 1: Let's Climb The Cliff Edge And Jump Again

Chapter Text

Even before he had gotten in trouble, Camilo was not having a good day.

It all started when he woke up. "We need another Luisa!" They called. "One more Isabela will do." They had said. Throughout the day, as they prepared for a party Abuela Alma was setting up, they had asked, 'One more this, one more that.' Why not one more Camilo?

A tug on his ruana pulled him from his thoughts.

"¡Hola, Camilo!" Three little kids smiled up at him, the same three children Mirabel had spoken to about the family. He believes their names are Alejandra, Juancho and Cecilia.

He laughed, and dropped to their height. "¡Hola, pequeños! ¿Qué pasa?"

Juancho took a drink of his coffee (why and where did this kid get it?) and grinned. He asked, "Can you shapeshift into someone?"

"Sure!" Cracking his knuckles, he adorned a mischievous grin. "Anyone, anytime, anyplace."

The kid pondered for a moment, sipping his coffee as the other two waited impatiently, and grinned again. "How about your mamá?"

"Now that, I can do." Standing up, he transformed into his mother, feigning anger. "Clear skies, clear skies-"

He earned a firm smack on the head. "Camilo, mijo, what have I told you about impersonating me?" Pepa rolled her eyes.

He wore a sheepish grin, rubbing the back of his head. "Lo siento, mamá..." As his mother walked away, the children pulled on him again.

"Do Antonio!" they giggled. He nodded, and they cheered.

Shifting to Antonio, he picked up a nearby rat. "Oh look, animal friend! Blah blah blah insert conversation the-rats-are-invading."

As the kids laughed and giggled, Cecilia pulled him down to eye level.

"Do Bruno."

"¿Tío Bruno?" He asked, genuinely confused. "Well, okay.." Shifting into his timid uncle, he stared at the children.

"No no no, scary Bruno!" Alejandra laughed.

"Scary Bruno...?" he mumbled. "Um, I'm not sure if I should-"

"Please!!!" the children begged and pleaded, and Camilo decided he shouldn't ruin their fun.

Shifting into 'scary' Bruno, he now grew several feet in height. His eyes glowed green, and he adorned rats along his back, just like he had sung to Mirabel. He truly looked terrifying.

He stood tall and proud, facing the children, sounding much more sinister. "¡Hola, pequeños!"

The children hid behind each other, cowering in fear. "Would you like a prophecy?' Bruno (Camilo) whispered, crouching down and leaning towards the children.

Quite literally shaking in fear, Juancho leaned further away. "S-Sure..."

Camilo, doing his best Bruno impression, held out his hands in a creepy way.

"Something bad will happen. if. You. Don't." he cut himself off, jumping towards the children,

"RUN!" the children screamed and ran off, as Camilo burst out laughing. Wiping a tear from his eye, he shifted back to himself. He turned back around and was met face to face with his uncle. The one he happened to be impersonating about 3 seconds ago. Standing there, looking like a kicked puppy.

Camilo's eyes widened as the realization dawned on him.

"Tío Bruno! I was just-"

"It's alright, Camilo." His uncle just smiled painfully. "...Do you know where your mamá is...?"

"She's in the kitchen..." Camilo was suddenly interested in his shoes.

"Gracias, Camilo..." Bruno mumbled, as he made his way over to the kitchen, leaving Camilo more regretful then he had ever been.

"Mierda..."
