Notes:

I know it's late, but not only is my computer still broken but let's be honest it takes a lot for me to be consistent on ANYTHING

Work Text:

Okay so maybe procrastinating Christmas shopping had been a little bit of a bad idea.

No okay, it was a terrible idea.

Stores were packed at this time, and usually, Leonard and Montgomery were all set for holiday shopping, but not this year. Well, it was mostly because they'd spent the last 2 weeks in Scotland with Montgomery's family. Each of his 6 sisters wanted to meet Leonard. That was just the beginning.

Montgomery had a big family and they were all excited to meet Leonard. He handled it well(he hoped) and they all seemed to like him. Mrs. Scott bonded with him over his baking skills, Mr. Scott(Montgomery's father) bonded with him over drinking(are we really surprised?) and the whole lot of them had a good time.

But most of all, Leonard learned so much about Scotty, about his home and childhood. He'd looked at baby pictures and when he was just a little tot, which was adorable. Leonard had learned so much about his partner and was so glad to spend that time learning more about him. He would spend the rest of his life learning more about him, he knew that deep in his heart.

So that's why they were behind. And now they were pushing past people in the crowded store hoping to get their hands on some Stove Top. The lines were excruciating and Leonard was trying to keep a level head as he made his way to the right aisle.

"We get in, we get out," Leonard had said before they entered the store. Now, their cart was full and they were fighting for the last Stove Top with some kooky-looking lady.

"It's ours, we saw it first," Leonard stated, his eyes narrowing.

"No you didn't, it's mine," The lady hissed, adjusting her fur coat around her. "It's MINE."

"Wanna bet?" Leonard snatched the stovetop and put it in the cart, racing in the other direction. Montgomery followed him, laughing. He had to admit, his husband was a bad bitch.

"Run, let's go," Leonard kept looking behind him to see if that lady was chasing after them with a frozen turkey(something that had happened before).

Montgomery directed him into the fastest-looking check-out line, which had at least seven people in it, carts all full.

"We're going to be stuck here forever," Leonard groaned.

"It's okay, we have the Stove Top," Montgomery grinned like they'd just won a war(which they totally did).

"And about a billion other things we needed. Do we really need small screwdrivers?"

"What?" Montgomery shrugged defensively.

"Mine are all missing."

Leonard blew a raspberry at him, but then kissed him, so the engineer imagined everything was just fine. Montgomery wrapped an arm around his waist as he kissed him back. When they finally checked out and left the store, they both felt like maybe lunch then a nap because that was exhausting. Shopping during the holidays was hell on earth and completely draining. It was a miracle anyone did it.

They got lunch, then went home and spent forever unloading groceries, then undressed and collapsed on the bed. That was the benefit of being old. Naps with an oven-like husband who cuddled you and made everything right again.
