Ice Skating

Summary:

Montgomery thought it was a good idea to have their first date in an ice rink.

Work Text:

"Oh my god--this was a terrible idea," Montgomery fought to stay balanced as he gingerly moved, trying to get used to the feeling of being on ice skates.

The doctor only laughed at him. "This was your idea."

"Ye're not the one falling on your ass," Montgomery said, even though he was smiling.

Yes, this had been his idea but that's because he thought they'd both be clumsy fools together, that it would be cute. Well, turns out Leonard was a natural at skating, even though he swore he'd never taken a lesson in his life. Of course he was good at it, he was good at everything.

"At least you have an ass to fall on," Leonard smirked and offered his arm to the blushing engineer. Okay, so he was a smooth talker too. Wonderful. Was there something he wasn't good at? Montgomery was starting to think he'd never find the answer.

They linked arms and skated slowly at first. Granted, Leonard was not perfect at ice skating. He wobbled a little bit and he too was a bit unsteady, but it was nowhere near as bad as Montgomery's lack of skill.

"Mah god this is embarrassing," Montgomery whispered aloud, and Leonard laughed so hard he didn't notice a slight crack in the ice, causing him to fall. Of course, he dragged Montgomery right along with him.

They landed on top of each other, laughing like idiots and it took several minutes for them to get up.

"You okay?" Leonard asked once he got his breath back.

Montgomery nodded. "Yeah, ye?"

"I'm good. Guess neither of us are pro ice skaters." Leonard laughed, brushing some ice off of Montgomery's shirt.

"Ah'll say," Montgomery grinned. "This probably wasn't the greatest place for a first date. Ah just thought it would be romantic."

Leonard's hand found his and when they touched, electricity shot up Montgomery's arm. "I think it's sweet. No one's...ever taken me out on a date."

"Ah certainly hope this won't be the last," Montgomery smirked and Leonard only scoffed.

"Me too."

Montgomery's other hand came up to brush Leonard's cheek and Leonard leaned into the touch. "Can Ah...kiss you?"

He was answered by Leonard's warm lips against his. He was wrong, this first date was a great idea.
