Chapter Text

Another day, another annoyance.

Honestly, I don't even know why I'm here. This event has nothing to do with me. Yet, once again I was roped into another annoying activity by those who follow me everyday. They're like needy flies that are constantly buzzing and ten times the size of actual flies.

The event I'm stuck at today is none other than the “body improvement event”. This event happens randomly once a year and has a handful of middle school body improvement clubs gather at our high school to learn and be motivated by their older peers and future classmates. Most sport clubs are allowed to join in on this event, and it's always majorly crowded. I avoid it every year because of this fact; the amount of excited voices filling my mind is overwhelming and annoying, and I have nothing to do with sports or body improvement anyways.

But, Hairo just had to drag me into this. I'm not entirely sure how- it was a progression of loud yelling, sweating muscles and getting dragged from our classroom all the way to the courtyard.

Only a couple of middle school groups had gathered by the time I’d been dragged there, so I wasn't overwhelmed right off the bat. Hopefully, with this fact, I'll be slowly eased into the chaos of thoughts sure to come later on.

“I'm so glad you came with me Saiki!” Hairo exclaims, jogging in place beside me. You dragged me here. “You're going to have a blast! You can even improve yourself like the rest of us!” I'm going to leave as soon as you look away. “I've been so worried about your athletic abilities since the first day we met, since you never put forth your true effort!” If I did that the world would explode. “But fear not! I will start helping you today! Until you're coughing up blood!” That's not healthy.

'He's going to have so much fun today!’ Hairo thinks, and even his eternal voice is loud and obnoxious. ‘Now where are the others I invited?’

Others? Oh no. He probably invited the rest of the swarm of pests.

Sure enough, my fears are confirmed with a shouted, “Hey!! Pal!!!” Nendo appears beside me, throwing his arm around my shoulders and leaning against me. You're going to crush me, you idiot. “You're here too?”

“Of course he is!!” Hairo says with a clenched fist, a grin plastered across his face. How are you sparkling? “Everyone wants to improve themselves!” I don't want to.

“It is too bad that I am here then,” Kaido says, his hand hovering in front of his face. “Since I am going to leave him and everyone else in the dust of my power!” What power.

“That's the spirit Kaido!” Hairo shouts, pumping his clenched fist now. I'm going to turn him into an actual spirit. All of you, actually.

Oh, good. I don't sense the rest of the annoyances. I can handle these three. Hardly.

“Come on, pal, you're not dressed for the event,” Nendo points out with a frown. That's because I'm not doing it. Nendo places a hand across his chin in thought, covering the hideous thing. “Is it that you lost your uniform?” He snaps his fingers, “I have an extra set if you want it!” I'd drown in it.

Something brushes the back of my senses. My shoulders tense, and the rest of their conversation fades from my ears. This aura, this raw power that suddenly surged forward, knocking into my back… I've never sensed another psychic right off the bat, due to the fact their powers aren't that strong or powerful.

But this? This is at a whole new level. He's never sensed anything this powerful aside from himself before, and that's really saying something.

Good grief. This is going to be a problem. Whoever this psychic could be probably senses me as well, and will eventually narrow me out in the crowd. Then, whoever they are will approach me and become yet another annoyance in my life. Or, they could be a danger to everyon- to the normal life I've been trying so hard to build.

I need to find them before they find me, and figure out what to do with them.

But the crowd around me is thick and only growing as more schools arrive, filling my mind with other people’s thoughts and auras. I can hardly sense the other psychic’s presence at all due to the sheer number of people around me, but the fact that I can at all really shows how strong their presence is. This could turn out to be really bad for me.

How have I never sensed this powerful presence before? Has this psychic been aloof from my radius for this long, even though they live nearby? Have they been hiding themself? But if so, why would they show themself now? To mock me?

No, I can't sense any malice in the other’s aura. Maybe that's because I haven't seen the actual psychic yet. I can't judge a book by its aura, after all.

Great, now I have to stay and watch the event. I'm not participating, since that would be even more annoying, but watching from beside or above could help me spot the psychic easier. Maybe I could make a disturbance in the psychic realm around us, and see who reacts? Hm, I should wait for the events to begin. That would help me spot their reaction easier. Maybe they'll stand out and be far above average with their abilities. I Don’t know how others use their psychic strengths. Just because I avoid standing out with doesn't mean whoever this is does that.

“You coming, Saiki?” I tune back in at the sound of my name and a shoulder grabbing my shoulder. I blink and return my gaze to Hairo, who's grinning at me with a thumbs up. I've already decided no. I shake my head to emphasize this, and Hairo’s shoulders deflate. You know I don't like physical activities, idiot. Don't get your hopes up. “But I wanted to help you improve and push yourself. Even Nendo and Kaido are participating.” I see them gathering at the first activity of the event; a long run race. They're both idiots. Of course they are. I shrug, and he sighs with defeat. But then, he points a finger at me with a grin, fire in his eyes, “Alright, but at the next gym class I'm pushing you further than you've ever gone before!!!” He takes off to join the lineup, jogging in place as he waits for it to start.

Good grief. That will be annoying.

I join the audience and begin to scan the lineup. Many of the students stand out in their own ways, with some smart mouthing and others silently preparing for the run. None of them look like they have psychic powers, but I'll keep my eyes on the more assured runners, since they could use their power to enhance themselves. There's really only one uninteresting person, with black eyes and hair trimmed short into a bowl cut. Who let him come out like that. Even his face is expressionless… the complete… embodiment of- of-

Average! I feel my face brighten at the thought, and I excitedly look the kid up and down. He's obviously a middle schooler, with a shorter stature than the high schoolers. He's quiet, and drawing no attention to himself. I decide to watch him instead of the others, so I can study another average person. Maybe I could approach him, offer to be his tutor, or something? Then his averageness could rub off on me!

“You ready for this Mob?” one of his peers asks- they're all dressed similarly to show which middle school they're from. This kid is large and muscular, and for a moment I can't believe he's an actual middle schooler. ‘This is a long run. He's going to have trouble. But he's determined!! I can't stop him from improving himself!’ He's like a calmer version of Hairo. More average than that crazy muscle man!

Some of the other kids in this Mob’s group nod and ask worried questions as well, but the- nearly ten times smaller and weaker than them combined- just gets a determined face and nods. “Y- yes,” he stutters. Stand strong, Mob-kun! “We've been training for a month. I- I can do this.” That's it! I'm starting to sound like Hairo. Ew.

“That's right!!” the biggest of the group shouts, nodding down at Mob. The others throw thumbs ups his way, encouraging smiles on their faces. “Of course you can do it! We're the body improvement club!!” 'I'm of course going to keep an eye on him. I'll encourage him the entire race, too! His training has led up to this, after all!’ Oh, he does pass out often, doesn't he. Thanks for the flashbacks.

“Fight! On!” one of the group chants, and pretty soon the rest of them join in. I see Mob chanting as well, a large smile on his face. I can't help but smile, too. Mob seems to be well liked, even with his averageness. Is this their chant? If so, right on, Mob-kun! Oh, wait, I still need to keep an eye out for the other psychic. Their aura is like mine, spread so far out it's hard to spot the originator. I can just see it surrounding me in the air, a brilliant cacophony of all colors, constantly shifting and changing.

I know I need to do that, but now that I've seen Mob, a completely average student… he's piqued my interest.

The race begins, and everyone takes off. I watch after Mob, of course, wanting to see how he handles the race as an average person. He starts off… okay… not the best form, but that's fine. Even Kaido passes Mob, face already pale even though it's been five minutes. Come on, Mob-kun. Don't let that idiot beat you! No, I don't feel proud of that idiot, either.

When it reaches the ten minute mark, and once they've left the courtyard, I cross my eyes to use clairvoyance to keep an eye on Mob. What I see makes me frown. Mob’s already sagging, sweat pouring like waterfalls from every area of his body in bullets, struggling to breathe… it's just like the memories I'd seen from the muscle guy earlier. Has he really improved at all?

Average people don't always make average scores. He's- he's below average, which is even better! Amazing, Mob-kun! I grin once more.

That grin falls when I watch Mob collapse onto the ground, struggling to breathe, sounding as if he was dying. Not good- has he pushed himself too far this time?

Wait. I can't hear his thoughts.

I'd been too excited earlier to even notice, but now that I have, I feel myself tense. Another Nendo? But he's so average- is his averageness so average I can't reach his thoughts? That wouldn't make sense, though.

Hm. I reach out psychically, trying to speak with him telepathically, only to find some kind of wall around his mind. I falter, growing even more confused. The only person I cant communicate with telepathically is Kosuke, but that's because of the stupid device he built. And Mob doesn't have that. So why..?

Time to test him. He may be the one.

I hope he isn't. Then he wouldn't be average anymore, if he has psychic powers.

...Unless he has mastered the ability to be average even with psychic powers. Oh, if he is, I will need to talk with him. To learn from him. Forget me being the tutor- he’ll have to be kind in being average!

I send a jolt of psychic energy through his body, which would normally be unnoticeable to non psychics. They would just feel re-energized, and they wouldn't have any idea how or why.

I closely watch Mob as the kid catches his breath, sitting up while wiping a trail of saliva from his chin. He seems to be confused, unsure. I need to test him further.

I send another jolt, and I see his whole body wince. Then, I feel the presence narrow in towards me, almost curiously. I meet it halfway, and it latches onto my mind eagerly. I nearly flinch from the eagerness, but now I can see that the owner of the powerful presence is in fact Mob.

Excitement courses through me, and I feel excitement from the other end of our link.

Not only has Mob mastered the ability to be average, his amount of power of psychic abilities rivals my own. It's like I'm brushing against an equal, someone who can completely understand me.

I… don't feel as alone in the world anymore.

Mob gets back to his feet, draws in another deep breath and then gets back to running. Or, what could be considered running. As he does so, I take the time to further study his psyche.

Looking closer at his aura, now that I know who it belongs to, I can see a dark edge to it. Black lines cut jagged lines throughout the bright colors, and something angry and hungry lurks just beneath Mob’s surface, eager to get a chance to riot.

Well, that's not good.

It swells with power, an unlimited power, just like mine, but seems a lot more jagged, and volatile. Is it because he doesn't have inhibitors like I do? Because his powers are bursting at the edges, leaking through the cracks and hungrily reaching out, only seeming to grow every time Mob makes a misstep.

The darkness isn't just angry, I now realize. It's depressed, agonized, excited, enamored, hungry, animosity.

The sheer amount of emotions clogging this… thing hiding just beneath Mob’s skin nearly suffocated me. If it's almost making it hard for me to breathe, I can't imagine how Mob-kun must be suffering. But why?

Why are these emotions bursting at the seams, clawing for dominance and control?

He's not expressing them properly.

The realization hits me like a truck through a brick wall. Mob has created this container for his strong emotions, and has stuffed every single one inside, hastily securing the lid on top and doing his best to push them to the back of his mind. I can see now that most of the darkness is writhing between each of the powerful emotions, flickering between black and white and horrible and terrifying.

This can't be healthy.

I reach out to him once more, brushing against his senses once more. He's still latched onto mine, but I want access to speak with him telepathically. He has a strong wall surrounding his mind; one he's not aware of, but one there after all.

He doesn't hesitate, letting my voice into his mind. ‘I wish to speak with you after the event, Mob-kun.’ I sense his surprise, but none of his thoughts. Those are still safeguarded, then.

‘Okay,’ he responds with no hesitation. He's curious, too. We’re curious about one another.

I'm also concerned about that darkness inside of him. How it feels like a ticking time bomb waiting to explode at any second. That could cause many, many issues for me. And… well, for him, too. And now I don't want him to have issues psychically related because he's living an average life. I don't want that ruined for him.

I watch the rest of the race, giving a half hearted thumbs up to Nendo and Kaido when they come searching for my approval. For some reason. I have no idea why they're still so interested in me. I try to look and seem as bored as possible around me. Yet they keep coming back like bees to honey. It's irritating, really.

Then, Hairo comes to collect them for the next activity: weight training. I glance at Mob standing near all of the heavy weights and equipment, and instantly frown with concern. He's small and doesn't use his powers. He's going to be crushed.

'Mob-kun,’ I call to him. He looks back at me, and smiles when he spots me. He smiles. Hm. I smile back. Huh. Strange. ‘I can help you with this.’

Mob shakes his head quickly. 'It's okay,’ he responds. His group mates are patting him on the back and congratulating him for running longer than he has before. ‘I don't like to rely on psychic powers. Please don't help me.’

My eyes widen at his rejection. Everyone else who knows of his abilities always beg him to help them with it. I've just come to… expect it. Yet Mob instantly turned me down. It's… refreshing, honestly. I nod in reply. He turns to the weights.

Thankfully, he goes with lighter weights than most of the others (Kaido has to lift even lighter weights than him, surprisingly). He still struggles near the end, but manages through it. He's doing great.

After a round of soccer ( did you run out of ideas, author? soccer? really?) the event is finally over. The school day is, as well. I duck away from the crowd before Hairo, Nendo and Kaido can find me, and make my way to the back of the school. Hopefully they won't think to look for me back here. Hopefully they'll just assume I went home. I want to be able to speak with Mob alone. I don't want to overwhelm him with their idiocy.

‘I am behind the school,’ I inform Mob. He doesn't respond at first, but I do feel his exhaustion from the whole event. Why didn't he use his abilities to keep himself from getting so exhausted? Because he doesn't want to rely on them? What does that mean? I check in on him, and find him chugging from a large waterbottle, with his group surrounding him, each checking on and consoling him in their own ways.

“You did better than you have before, Mob!” the biggest one exclaims, hands Mob another bottle. ‘Better than I'd expected.’ Be nice to him. He did his best. “You didn't even faint once!”

“Yeah!” another chimes in, wrapping a shoulder across Mob’s shoulders to help soak up his sweat. “You barely finished in last place!” ‘He got there a few minutes later than everyone, but it was two minutes less than usual!’ He sounds terrible.

Once Mob has drained three more bottles, he finally catches his breath and shakily stands. His group members worry over him, but he eventually steels himself and reassures them he’ll be fine with a clenched fist. They hesitate, but they shouldn't worry. l’ll keep an eye on Mob now. And I am very good at keeping an eye on people.

Mob rubs the back of his head and then looks back at the school he doesn't attend. I send a flash of imagery that leads to where I am, and I watch the way his shoulders tense at the abruptness of it. So he's unused to other people’s psychic abilities. Is he not around many other psychics? I only know two others minus Mob then again. He's probably been alone. That thought makes me feel a bit sad, for some reason. It shouldn't, since it makes it easier for Mob to lead an average life, after all.

He makes his way to where I am, legs still shaky the entire way. I offer to rejuvenate his energy, but he once again turns me down. That annoys me a little. Which is strange, since when people usually ask me for favors from my abilities I get annoyed. That's contradictory.

Eventually, Mob makes it to where I am, breathing heavy, his cheeks a light red. He pauses when he sees me again, his expression unreadable to me. Well, that's because it's the flat expression he's been using most of the day. He hardly expresses emotions, too.

I think I get why he stopped, though. Because now that I'm seeing him up close, I get an even closer look at his powerful presence. That darkness I've been seeing whips and coils around his otherwise bright and colorful aura, surrounding him like a shroud of evil. Which doesn't make much sense to me, since he seems to have no bad bone in his body. It seems to hiss at me when I look closer at it, tightening the circle it's made around the small boy.

I don't like that.

‘What is that?’ I end up asking, possibly against my better judgment. Mob doesn't seem to notice or care about it, but maybe that's because he simply doesn't know about it. I feel the need to inform him of it.

Mob starts, coming back to attention. He tilts his head a little, the short inky strands brushing against his cheek. ‘What is what?’ he responds to me, telepathically. Which is… nice. Even my parents only speak verbally to me, unless it's a matter between us. Having someone not speak out loud with me is appreciated, since it’s not loud.

I reach out and rest my hand on his shoulder, not missing the way he flinches underneath it. I offer my sight to him, and he gasps when he sees the shadow surrounding him. Somehow, that seems to only make the shadows stronger, angrier. I sense a strong amount of stress exuding from him.

‘O- oh,’ he says quietly in my mind, looking at the ground. He shifts, picking at his fingers.

Wait. I missed something important. I'm jumping ahead of myself. When you meet someone you're supposed to introduce yourselves! Dumb rule, but it's joe society works for some reason.

I reign myself in and draw my hand back. 'I'm sorry. I’m Saiki Kusuo. I'm a psychic,’ I inform him, and he looks back up. His mind is racing with something, and once again I find myself annoyed at not being able to read someone’s thoughts. He bites his lower lip and nods.

‘I’m Kageyama Shigeo. But everyone calls me Mob,’ he says. Then he adds rather unhappily, ‘I’m also a psychic. What were you talking about?’ His expression doesn't change, but I can feel his confusion from my earlier question. He's nervous, too. Very nervous. He may actually know what I was talking about.

'You're powerful,’ I say. He blinks at me, and looks down again. Does he not like that? I don't, so I guess I get it. Being powerful is annoying. ‘Yet you didn't use your abilities at all during the event. Why?’ I may not like my powers, but since I have them, I might as well put them to some kind of use. They're annoying, but they can be helpful. Most of the time. Though, they typically create more problems than help with.

Mob shakes his head, holding his hands in front of himself. The thing swirls beneath his aura, momentarily distracting me. I think it snarls at me. Rude of it. Is this the real Mob, hidden beneath wraps of glowing colors and large power? Or a completely different entity Mob isn't aware of? I know I keep pondering this, but it is highly interesting to me(also, the author is trying to stall for time while writing this).

‘I joined the body improvement club to stop using my powers as much,’ he explains. ‘I want to be strong and not rely on them.’

He’s almost exactly like me. I shift on my feet in front of him and glance at the sky. It's turned from the usual bright blue to a blur of oranges and yellows, creating a gold hue above us. He follows my gaze curiously, and then the shadow somehow brightens at the sight of the sky, taking pleasure at the sight of it.

How does a shadow brighten? That doesn't make much sense.

‘I suppose that makes sense,’ I say anyways, keeping most of my thoughts to myself. I'm still trying to piece this kid together, though I think I'm starting to see the clear picture: he's a kind kid that dislikes his psychic abilities and tries to rely on them as little as possible, meanwhile some thing is lurking just beneath his skin, writhing and hissing at its cage. That thing concerns me. For both my, the world’s, and his own safety. ‘But you haven't answered my first question.’ He doesn't seem to want to talk about it, but I need him to, since I can't simply read his thoughts. Probably his power unconsciously keeping me from doing so.

He shuffles, looking down at his intertwined hands. The thing roars, smashing against the wall of colors and light. He picks at his fingers. Did it grow bigger?

‘I don't know,’ he finally says guiltily. ‘Not for certain… but it's always been there. It might be because I suppress my power.’

'That's not just it,’ I say thoughtfully. Mob picks at a fingernail now, and I watch tendrils from the thing slip free between the cracks, fighting to gain control. I squint, and can just see other, dull colors swirling in the darkness inside of Mob, writhing and hissing like the thing.

That's when I notice something important; all of the emotions I've felt from Mob have been subdued and restrained our entire conversation. They've been fleeting glimpses, small and quiet compared to every other person’s he’s felt. It's as if Mob isn't letting them completely shine through, I realize. I'd thought it was just due to his mental shielding, but I'm begining to realize that the thing inside of Mob isn't just some thing.

It's him. His emotions. He suppressed them, locks them away. But why? And why are they reacting in this way? And why have they formed such a powerful entity?

I offer a hand between us, and the kid jumps with surprise, brown eyes wide with surprise. He looks back up at me curiously.

‘I want to try to see what it is,’ I explain. Mob’s eyes only widen further, and the entity roars once more. ‘But I'll need to touch you and have your permission to do so, otherwise it won't work.’

Mob steps back, as if he's been burnt, hands forming a barrier between himself and me. He waves them frantically, shaking his head repeatedly. I can finally sense what the entity is; stress. He's panicking, worried and anxious all at once. Maybe it's this new situation; maybe he has never met another psychic before. It is now most likely triggered by my offer.

I can hear his heart racing, and his face is pale. I narrow my eyes, and see what looks like a timer, with enough room for numbers. The current percentage is a deep orange 87%. It's beside Mob, glowing menacingly. I don't understand what it means, but I get the feeling that it is important, and that I should  keep an eye on it. Maybe this is Mob’s ability, whatever it may be.

“No!” Mob exclaims aloud, his real voice making me wince with surprise. “No- that's too dangerous! It's already too dangerous on its own! You can't do that.”

I'm almost amused by his worry. I'm sure I can handle whatever is plaguing him. ‘It won't affect me. I can help you,’ I try to reassure him. His face only pales further, his entire body beginning to tremble. I see his lips are shaking. The number near Mob increases to a red 90%. That can't be good. I sigh inwardly and finally relent, ‘Okay, I won't. Calm down.’

Mob swallows heavily, but he doesn't calm down. He stares back down at the ground, fingers twitching as he continues to tremble like a delicate leaf. The number beside him stays at a bright and angry 90%. The shadow gnashes its fangs.

I've decided I don't like seeing him upset.

And why would I? He's completely soft and innocent, and I can tell he'd never hurt a fly without provocation. Even then he wouldn't want to. What can I say? I'm an excellent judge of character. Somehow. I shouldn't be since most of the characters surrounding me are idiots.

I send a soothing wave through our connection, hoping to help calm him. He winces, eyes snapping up towards me. He's breathing heavily. He's on the verge of a panic attack. I continue to try and ease him calmly.

'I'm sorry for asking,’ I try to reassure him. I'm not the best at comforting people, but maybe since Mob is of similar nature to me, I could help him. ‘I won't ask again, okay?’

Mob’s shaking lips are slightly parted, and I can see small beads of sweat on his temples. Then, he's shaking his head, downcast. ‘No, I am sorry,’ he says, returning to our shared telepathy. I'm glad for that. I hate verbal words. They're loud and a pain. Besides, I can better understand emotions through telepathy. ‘I- I reacted rudely.’

‘You don't want to speak of it,’ I reassure him, watching the oranges and yellows begin to fade into dull greys and browns. The moon is starting to glow. ‘You let me know.’

‘No-’ he cuts himself off, fingers curling in on themselves like claws. He blinks, and tilts his head back. ‘Would you be able to help me? With my powers? If you did that?’

I think over the questions. Would I be able to? That seems like a heavy task, but then again, I can do nearly anything, if not everything I put my mind to. I'm sure if I put my mind to this, then I could do it, too. And I'd be happy to help him; seeing him struggling with his overpowered abilities reminds me of the time before I had my inhibitors.

‘I’ll be sure once I've looked,’ I reply. I see him tense. 92%. Ah. This must be a reading of the emotion currently overflowing from him. I can't tell what emotion it is specifically, but that has started to become apparent to me. 'Don't worry. I can take care of myself if you allow me to.’

He pauses, considering my offer. The red numbers remain 92%. Then, his shoulders relax, and the numbers drop back to an orange 85%. That seems better. He jerkily nods.

‘Okay,’ he says. ‘But if I think you're in danger I'm pushing you out.’

You can try to do that. I don't say that aloud. Every other psychic I've met hasn't been able to have their way with me. They haven't been able to overpower me. Mob has a very equal power to me, but I'm sure I could overcome it in the end. I'm more trained and experienced than him.

I nod in reply to him.

He swallows heavily once more, chewing on his lower lip. 87%. He reaches a shaking hand between us, and I take hold of it. His palms are clammy. Gross.

I follow the trail between us from his hand to his mind, delving deep inside. He allows me past his shields, and I'm instantly blinded by what I see.

Pure emotion. Glowing blindingly bright. Each of his emotions are darting through a dark void like shooting stars on crack, bouncing off the walls of their cage to try and escape. One emotion is larger than the rest; a deep, trembling blue clawing at the walls, fighting to free itself. I read this emotion as anxiety.

I was right. He is suppressing his emotions.

These suppressed emotions make up a messy ball of bright colors and a black void inside, appearing like a sphere. I recognize this, but I don't see the dark entity I've been seeing outside of his mind.

I need to go deeper.

I haven't even reached his subconscious thoughts yet, nor his memories. Perhaps this entity is hidden beyond his thoughts and consciousness, waiting to pounce.

I swim through the colored shapes of emotions, finding a tunnel of static that leads me to his thoughts. And his thoughts are a mess;

What if Master needs me?

Saiki-san is going to be hurt. I shouldn't let this happen.

Everyone gets hurt because of me.

Because of me they get hurt.

It's always because of me.

I cant control myself.

I cant control my powers.

I'm weak.

My powers are meaningless. I cant control them so how can they have meaning?

I cant feel anything.

I feel apprehensive I think.

I cant control myself.

Saiki-san is going to be hurt because of me.

Because of me, because of me, becauseof me, becauseofme, beacuseofmebecauseofmebecauseofme-

I have to fight my way through his thoughts full of pain and turmoil.

I understand how he feels.

I am just as afraid of myself and my powers as he is. Terrified of what I'm going to do to my friends( they're not my friends, author. don't refer to them that way from my point of view) , family and the world when I'm not paying attention.

Because just one tiny slip up could mean the erasure of existence. One tiny sneeze could mean a new universe’s creation after ours is erased.

Mob really does need help. I have my inhibitors, but he has nothing. He's subconsciously repressed his emotions, since he knows that his powers can stem from them. Just like the time I hurt my fellow students all the way back in grade school. But what he doesn't realize is with this repression, there will also be rebellion. He needs to realize that he can feel things, even if he doesn't express them, that he-

Blood is on my hands. Ritsu is on the ground. Blood is on the ground. The bullies are on the ground. Blood is on my hands. Blood is on Ritsu. I hurt him. I couldn't control myself. I hurt him. Blood is on Ritsu. I cant breathe, my fingers are tingling and blood is on ritsu what do i do i hurt him i hurt him why did i hurt him why can't i control myse-

Fury rushes through my veins. It fills every corner of my mind and body, and it's overflowing. I can feel it humming around my fingertips, around my presence and eyes. I cant calm down. I don't want to calm down. I want to hurt him. I want to pummel him into the ground until he turns to dust. How dare he. How dare he how dare he-?

I'm going to die. I cant breathe. He's going to kill me. His hands are cold and ruthless around my neck, choking my throat until I cant breathe. My eyes are stinging, and my chest is burning for air. He wants me to unleash my powers. I don't want to. I'll hurt him. I'll hurt everyone again. I don't want to. But I can feel it building up inside of me. Saliva turns to foam around my mouth. I don't want to. My world goes black. Until it comes back in a rush of floating debris and destruction. I did it. I did it again. I didn't want to. Sorrow fills my chest and I can't breathe again. I can only wail-

Shit. I got wrapped up in his memories. I shake myself, thoroughly disturbed by his memories. I can sense darker ones nearby, but I'm nervous to touch them, and it's not my place to. I shouldn't have even experienced the ones I'd seen, but I’d doven into them before I'd even realized my mistake.

But now I see why he's terrified to let his emotions rampant. He's afraid of exploding like the times in his memories. But the thing is, he doesn't realize that he explodes because he is repressing his feelings and thoughts and emotions. I mean, the kid hasn't had fun or done what he wanted to in years. He’s been shackled to his powers, like some kind of curse holding him down. I frown, heart uncharacteristically aching for Mob. This kid doesn't deserve this fate. He's a gentle soul that should not have been stuffed chock full of bursting powers.

I vow then that I will help him in some way no matter what.

In exchange for lessons from him on how to be average, of course.

If I can't help him control his powers and get a handle on them, then I could…. I scoff, not liking the second option…. ask Kusuke for a favor. I shiver. I don't like the thought of owing Kusuke a favor.

However, if it's to help this kid that I've quickly taken under my wing, I'll do it.
