Little things

Summary:

Kokichi and Shuichi definitely had weird things about them.

HELLO LOVELIES 💖💖

Work Text:

Kokichi stared across from himself at his boyfriend, who was nearly tucked into the other side of his bed.

The liar noticed one thing, and it's that if they weren't cuddling, Shuichi always had to have a little makeshift blanket snake to hold in his arms and set under his chin or cheek.
He remembered one time Shuichi admitted to finding that being the little spoon was more comfortable — which didn't bother Kokichi since he felt too confined when he had to be the little spoon, but Shuichi always had to have something in his arms despite. Whether it was stuffed animals, blankets or him on rare occasions, the detective just had to grip something.

He wondered if it was just because Shuichi liked having that sense of keeping something away from others. Kokichi especially liked being the big spoon because he felt that if he held Shuichi tight enough, the detective could never go away.
He sometimes wished they had their heights switched, it would make sense for him to be the taller one because he's the more dominant one – but maybe it made it more embarrassing for Shuichi to be bowing down to someone wayyy shorter than him, which made it better.

Kokichi also noticed Shuichi drooled an awful fucking lot in his sleep. While Kokichi would never tell that to Shuichi, he often had to change the covers on his pillows when Shuichi left just cause he simply didn't wanna sleep in his dried drool. Like, what the fuck, who drools at 28 years old.
He had heard somewhere, which was probably a lie, he's sure it was, that someone drools either the more asleep they are or the more comfortable they are.

Either way, Kokichi liked the idea, because a lot of the time Shuichi had troubles sleeping. If Shuichi drooling like a sleeping toddler with his stuffy in his arms meant he was getting the most jaw dropping sleep of his life, the liar would simply comply.
His boyfriend did too much for him not to comply anyway.

Letting out a yawn, Kokichi wondered what his boyfriend was dreaming about. Shuichi once told him they got married in his dreams, but for some reason spiders started eating their cake and his guests melted into sand, and Kokichi was perfectly horrified to think about it. Apparently, at least, the two simply left the venue and went to go walk their dog, because for some reason they had a dog outside waiting for them.

Kokichis eyes glanced around his boyfriends face, his mouth was the slightest but open, definitely drooling, but there wasn't a drop of anxiousness on his face. He was perfectly relaxed, his eyebrows not narrowed like they usually are, his eyes not squinting to glare at something.

Kokichi rolled over to finally flick the light off, leaving them in...plenty of light because of the moon. They forgot to close the curtains.
He sighed, simply deciding to ignore the issue and stare at the way his boyfriend glowed in the moonlight, especially since he was the one facing the window.
He loved the way he looked ethereal.

Shuichi sighed softly as the bed tossed him around and he woke up, he was always a light sleeper and perceptive even in his sleep. He heard Kokichis faint grumbling before he laid still and got curious.

Opening his eyes a tiny bit, he noticed Kokichi roll back around to look at him. He kept his eyes barely open, just enough to see Kokichi. It was dark, so he was sure Kokichi wouldn't notice if his eyes were open or not.

Kokichi was just, staring at him, Shuichi noticed after a while. His eyes moving as he assumed Kokichi looked around his face.

He held back a smile that threatened his lips. One thing he noticed about Kokichi was the fact he had this horrible problem with watching everything he did. He'd catch Kokichi staring at the way he ate, the way he watched TV, and especially he caught Kokichi staring at him while he slept.

It's not like he didn't watch Kokichi a lot, don't get him wrong, he did think the way Kokichi eats is... fascinating to say the least, but he simply did it better. It was like Kokichi wanted to be caught sometimes, he was utterly shameless about his staring.

Kokichi also had a tendency to change his expressions for some unknown reason. His eyebrows would raise or narrow, his eyes widen or squint as every thought went through his mind, his mouth would fall lax or he'd grit his teeth.

Kokichi had a horrible habit of doing weird stuff with his jaw and teeth, he had a really bad problem with biting random things. More often than not Shuichi had to complain about the sounds Kokichi made while clinking around metal folks in his mouth.

The weird things he did were strangely entrancing, mostly because the smaller boy only did it when they were alone, he only acted more strange when they were together.
You'd think Oma was made of stone when he was out in public unless he projected what he wanted people to see. When it was just him and Shuichi, you'd think he didn't seem to have a single braincell in his skull.

Jeez he loved it.

Shuichi closed his eyes again after a few more moments of admiring his boyfriend, falling back sleep quite quickly under the soft gaze he felt burning him. It was warm.

Kokichi eventually scooted over and wrapped his arms back around Shuichi when he was the sure the boy went back to sleep, smiling softly as he felt Shuichi snuggle into his chest.

Shuichi always seemed to think he was slick, a sly little boy, and he never was. Kokichi knew, he always did.

Eyes opened the next morning.

A yawn.

A smile.

A sigh.

"Why do you stare at me so much?"

"Why do you stare back?"

"Whatever."
