Chapter 1: New Faces

Chapter Text

-Mom's Library-

You groaned,  tapping your fingers on the counter in a rhythmic beat in order to keep yourself from being bored.

"Do I have stay here...."

"Yes." Your mother spoke sternly before picking up her bag and kissing your cheek."I'll be back later, te amo."

"Mhm, you too." You waved, watching as she closed the door.

Having had enough, you jumped over the counter, exploring the large library. "Hm...where's the horror section again-" you were interrupted by the sound of the door opening to reveal 3 Madrigals.

"Hello?" A young woman's voice spoke. She had curly hair that was wrapped into a bun on the top of her head, earrings shaped like hearts, a red choker and sound wave designs on her dress. Two boys clung to her like lost puppies.

"I think they might be closed." The older boy looked around holding his little brother's hand.

"We're open!" You rushed back to the counter to greet the siblings, however, he caught your eye first.

The elder boy had a golden brown complexion, curly hair, green eyes and freckles. His ruana was yellow and had a chameleon design.

You zoned out for a minute before coming back to your senses.

"Welcome, how can I help you today?" A smile tugged at your lips.

"Do you have-"

"Nature books, by any chance?" The woman was cut off by her younger brother.

"Camilo!" She elbowed him in the shoulder, making him gasp dramatically.

So that's his name.

"Don't mind him. It's nice to meet you, I'm-"

"Dolores." Camilo had shifted into his sister, sticking his hand out to you.

Your eyes widened in surprise as she whacked him on the head again, making him shift back to his original appearance. "Rude."

"This is Antonio" she pointed to the youngest boy who waved before moving her hand to pinch Camilo's cheek "And Camilo."

You nodded slowly. Oh right, you forgot that most of the Madrigals had powers, or as everyone else liked to call it, gifts.

"Nice to meet you......?"

"It's Y/N, L/N."

"Love the name."

He watched as you lead his siblings to a large shelf, mumbling to himself.

"And maybe the face too."

A few minutes had passed by as Dolores helped the youngest Madrigal pick a book he liked, meanwhile you restocked as Camilo stood by.

"Tell me about yourself."

"Uh." You raised your eyebrow at him before speaking "Well....Im an artist, I love-" you were met with a reflection of.....you?

"Not bad." You chuckled as he began to check himself out.

"For some reason, I feel as though I can pull it off more than you do." He wore a smug grin on his face as you rolled your eyes.

"In your dreams."

"Only if you're in them."

You both stared at each other, processing his words.

"Im....just gonna...." You slowly distanced yourself from him as you went to see how the other siblings were doing.

Camilo stared as you walked away, a blush growing on his cheeks as he hid behind a plant, questioning his life choices.

"Everything alright?" You asked.

Dolores nodded, handing you two books with different animals on them. "We'll take these." Antonio nodded, a smile on his face.

"Alright!" You took the two books to counter to get a bag while Dolores handed you the money.

"Have a great day, oh and this is for him. Happy Early Birthday." You smiled as you handed Antonio a piece of candy.

"Thank you!" He held onto his sister's hand as she called out for her other brother who ran out of the store without even glancing at you.

"His ceremony is next week. Will you be there?" She spoke.

"Wouldn't miss it for the world. "

The siblings smiled and waved goodbye before leaving.

You collapsed onto floor, thinking about Camilo's words from earlier.

Was he...flirting...with me? You thought.

Your heart raced as you got back up, dusted off your teal dress, and changed the sign from "OPEN" to "CLOSED".

-Casita-

"We're home!" Dolores yelled as Casita used it's tiles to move the trio to the kitchen where their parents were.

Pepa grinned at her children, kissing each of their foreheads. "What did you get?"

Antonio proudly took one of his books of the bag and started gushing about it to his parents who gave him their full attention.

Dolores laid the other book on the table before heading to her room, Camilo doing the same.

When he opened his door, it revealed a large stage and a few chairs in the corner. He flopped face-first onto his bed and silently screamed before rolling over and thinking.

Who was that girl and why did it intrigue him so much?

As soon as he locked eyes with her, he felt like he needed to know more.

"Y/N...."

He jumped off the bed, shifting into a carbon copy of you.

Camilo looked at himself in the mirror and blushed, tugging at your dress.

"Pretty."

"CAMILO!" Quickly, he changed back and ran to the door.

"Yes...?" He opened the door with a curious look on his face.

"I need some measurements, get over here." Mirabel yanked him into the nursery (a.k.a) her room.

He sighed, standing like a mannequin as she held a pin in her mouth.

"OW!"

"Hold still!"

"I'm trying."

-Y/N's Home-

After you finished inhaling your soup, you washed the dishes as your mom read a bedtime story to your youngest sibling.

You heard the door open and watched as they ran towards it.

"Dad!"

Your mother watched as all three of you hugged him tightly.

"Welcome back." She grinned, kissing him on the lips and earning an "ew" from the youngest sibling.

"Shouldn't you two be getting ready for bed?"

Nika, the youngest child, spoke up "But it's the weekend..."

"Yeah, plus I'm like 13-" Sophia was silenced by you putting a finger over her mouth.

"Don't speak. I lose braincells when you do." You giggled, as she chased after you to the bedroom that all three of you shared.

It seemed like an appropriate way to end the night.
