“…What are you doing?” Logan asked, coming to a stop and staring down at where Janus and Virgil lay on the floor, Virgil on his back with his head on Janus’s stomach and the rest of Janus curled protectively around him.
Virgil opened his eyes and blinked up at Logan, feeling warm and sleepy. “Cat,” he said in explanation, pointing to the window.
Logan looked back and forth between the window and his boyfriends several times. “…I beg your pardon?”
“Sun,” Virgil added by way of clarification.
Logan blinked several times, still seeming mystified. “I…”
“There’s sunlight here from the window and it’s warm,” Janus said, not opening his eyes. “Is what he means. Like how cats like it. You should come cuddle too.”
“Oh,” Logan said, seeming to understand at last. “…Would you like me to bring some throw pillows over, or anything? The floor can’t be all that comfortable, even if it is warm.”
“It can if you’re not a coward,” Virgil challenged.
Janus swatted vaguely at Virgil. “Nooo, I want pillows.”
Logan smiled down at Janus. “I will bring pillows, then.” He walked away and returned a moment later with his arms stacked full of throw pillows off the couch.
Janus sat up, dislodging Virgil, and reached for the pillows at once with grabby hands. “Gimme.” He happily seized the pillow Logan offered him.
“Love you too,” grumbled Virgil, rubbing the back of his head where it had landed on the floor.
Janus, holding his prize in both hands, looked down at him with a smirk. “Thank you, darling,” he said sweetly.
“Logannnn.” Virgil whined, reaching up at Logan, who was still standing. “Jan is being mean.”
“I see,” Logan said, sounding amused, carefully lowering himself to the ground in the middle of the sunny spot beneath the window. He crossed his legs and gave his attention to Virgil. “How might I tend to your emotional wounds?”
“Oh, playing favorites now, are we?” Janus teased.
“Certainly not.” Logan opened one arm, offering it to Janus, who draped himself on Logan’s shoulder.
“I want kisses,” Virgil demanded. “Or play with my hair.”
“Hm,” Logan said very seriously. “I hear your offer, and I raise you a counteroffer: both?”
Virgil grinned and let Logan take his hand and help him sit up. “Both sounds good.” He leaned forward and let Logan press their lips together, eyes fluttering shut, the kiss staying sweet and gentle and warm.
“My turn,” Janus said the moment they parted, hooking a finger in the collar of Virgil’s shirt and tugging him in, then turning to kiss Logan.
Virgil laid down again, curling up against both Janus and Logan this time, with his head on Logan’s knee to receive the promised hair-pets. “This is nice,” he announced.
“It is indeed,” Logan agreed, wrapping an arm more securely around Janus’s shoulders and running his fingers through Virgil’s hair. “You were right, the sun is pleasantly warm here by the window.”
“Told you,” Virgil said, yawning. “Cat.”
“Yes, well. That did not make a lot of sense. My explanation was much more clear,” Logan said.
“Shut up. Cat,” Virgil insisted as Janus smothered a giggle.
Logan sighed. “Very well. Yes. Cat.”
“Mmhm,” Virgil said, very pleased.
The trio was silent for a moment, cuddling in the sleepy warm sunlight. Virgil felt himself half drifting off.
“He looks so cute like this, doesn’t he?” he heard Logan whisper, still caressing his hair.
“He does,” Janus agreed in a quiet hum of a voice, sounding fond and almost as sleepy as Virgil felt.
Virgil groaned, opening one eye. “Oh, my god, you can’t both say compliments at once, that’s not fair,” he mumbled. “I’m gonna die of gay.”
“What a tragedy that would be,” Janus said, yawning. “Well. That does it. I suppose from now on I can never flirt with one of my boyfriends again. Too dangerous for his health. I can’t risk it.”
“Wait, no—”
“Oh, you’ve changed your mind? Excellent. ” Janus grinned in that sharp way he had that always made Virgil’s stomach flip and fill with butterflies. “Have I mentioned how your makeup brings out your eyes? I could spend so long looking at them. I often do.”
“Jan!” Face flaming, Virgil hid it in his hands.
Peeking through his fingers, he could see Janus smirk, looking very pleased with himself.
“You are both incorrigible,” Logan said, sounding amused. “And terribly handsome. And gay.”
“Thank you for pointing out that last bit, I had no idea,” Janus teased.
Logan turned his head and shut him up with a gentle kiss.
“Gay,” Virgil said, because what was he supposed to do, not?
Janus broke the kiss with a snicker and shoved at Virgil’s shoulder. “Shut up.”
“Make me.” Virgil grinned up at him. Janus leaned down and planted a kiss on Virgil’s lips, which was definitely a win.
“This is very nice, but I think that I would like to lay down now,” Logan announced. “The warmth is making me drowsy.”
“Cuddle pile?” Janus proposed, eyes lighting up.
“Cuddle pile,” the other two agreed.
